It's impossible to reach anyone at this company. Been on hold for several hours

UPDATE: Now struggling to get a refund that they acknowledged in an email I am due. Over an hour on the phone, several emails later and I still haven't received confirmation that my refund has been processed. Waiting for a promised email confirmation. Not holding my breath.

Ordered a death certificate through this company. I opted for UPS as they recommend that method of delivery as safer, for which they charge $18.50. Received the document destroyed, torn in three pieces, only two of which, taped together with packing tape, were in the strangely pristine envelope. When I contacted Vitalchek their solution was that after waiting a month for the document, I should wait two weeks to see what the response was from UPS and if I didn't hear from them after two weeks I should follow up by email. VitalChek had emailed me two days before the delivery that UPS had informed them there was a problem with my delivery. So assuming UPS accepts responsibilty. I will then wait another month for the document to be processed again. If they don't, who knows. When I indicated that this was unacceptable they suggested I call the county office directly to see if they would send me a "courtesy copy." This seems highly unprofessional to me. I hired them to handle this.
Also, I would recommend if you do use them not to opt for UPS especially if you are only ordering 1 document. It doesn't speed up the process or make it more secure. The UPS fees were almost as much as the fee for the document. I would get my document faster at this point if I just ordered another one. The fees I paid to VitalChek and UPS were supposed to make this simple and secure, it has not. Save yourself the fees and just mail your own request directly. Vitalchek can't get the document any faster, they are very unhelpful if there is a problem with your order and in this case it will take significantly longer to receive my document.

VitalChek is just a scam. I ordered a birth certificate through them for a passport which I am still awaiting two months later. I ordered one myself from the state sometime afterwards and have already received that one. I would never again do business with them for anything. They are much slowwwwwerrrr than doing it yourself.

This company is full with incompetent, nasty and rude employees. They have NO CLUE what they are doing and yet will treat you poorly when you call to ask questions. AVOID this company at all costs or you will be sorry.

No customer service follow-up at all. They sent my order the cheapest UPS possible, UPS Saver, where it is not delivered to my home, but to a delivery point. UPS said they delivered it, but the delivery point has no record of receiving it. I contacted Customer Service, they asked if my bank details were still the same, and to verify my address. They said they will look into it right away. Nothing happened. I contacted them again. Nothing happened.

NEVER order from this company! I ordered a certificate from this company and they charged $45 for the certificate + $13.50 as a Vitalchek fee and another $21 as a delivery fee. Then I saw that the delivery date was in about 8 months when I needed this asap so I went down to the city myself and picked up the certificate for $10. So I called Vitalchek to cancel the order and I waited on the phone for about a half hour until someone picked up and told me that they could cancel the order (which was still pending) but their still going to charge me the Vitalchek fee. This company should be shut down. Period.

For a $32 birth certificate, you have to pay a $10.50 fee + $18.50 in shipping + $50 for a notarized document + your time and energy for something that should be provided by the government for FREE.

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE. Horrible experience. I need my birth certificate from California to update my Drivers License to an enhanced drivers license. I completed the document and uploaded a notarized document to prove I am me. The notarized document is very simple, just my name and address and a section for the notary to complete. I paid $25 for a notary and uploaded the completed document to their system. It says the document will be reviewed in 48 hours. That was several weeks ago. I keep receiving emails saying to upload the document. I've now done so 8 times. All 8 documents are on their site saying, in "review" status. I have emailed customer service 6 times, I received one response two weeks later, saying my documents were "in review". I asked what the problem was and why I keep receiving an email asking for the notarized document I sent several times. It's their document, all it has is my name and address and the section for the notary. My name and address is the same on my Drivers License, there is no reason for it to be "in review" for weeks. I also tried calling, I have been on hold now for 3 hours. This is the worst experience I've ever had with any company. Zero customer support, horrible process. Don't waste your time.

Customer Service does not respond to you and they don't update their status page. Worst experience ever. If not because the state recommend using them I would not have order thru them. Know I am not sure if I will even get my order.

Expensive and don’t respond to email or phone calls. Very hard to reach them

I paid for 3 apostille birth certificates a month ago at 60 dollars, and they emailed me it was a success. Never received info about my updates nearly one month later. Went back and checked manage order from the previous email and it said they cancelled my order. I looked at my credit card that was charged November 8, and it they never returned my money or warned me of this cancellation. Which is theft. This is not normal service and I wouldn't doubt I'm the only person with this issue.

If I could rate this company zero I would. This company never does what they say it will do. It’s impossible to access their site to check order status. Their hold times to speak to a human average 1 hour and 45 minutes. Do not waste your money on this terrible company.

They got my papers to me about 2 weeks later than they said they would and a week too late for what I needed, even though I ordered well ahead of time. I've requested my money back to don't believe that will happen.

I had a name change 30 years ago. I ordered my birth certificate and they cancelled my order without telling me and then said that the name of the person ordering it had to be the same name as on the birth certificate. Also since l live in France they told me that l could not use my French notary. These affirmations are complete nonsense as l checked with vital records of my place of birth and they told me that was simply not true. I will not be doing business with them.

Started out Oct 7 sent in all info they asked for. They now have copies of my bc, my SS, my medical insurance, my license, two copies of the signed form yet they still want more three weeks into this and they deliver nothing yet they keep 15 bucks. I was trying to save 7 hours if driving to pick up a dc. But this was way way worse.

Well this company a joke long story short. I told them I lived in Canada she said to scratch out State and County and put in the province Ontario Canada. She then said to get sworn statement notarized which cost me 125.00 and when I went to continue the process I was informed I needed to get it notarized at the U S embassy... So I spent that money for nothing.. Horrible experience...

I used VitalCheck to obtain my birth certificate so I could get a passport. After 3 months I discovered that my order had been canceled and the $57 fee that I paid them refunded. They DID refund the fee, but I never received word of the cancellation or refund and no explanation was given for the cancellation.
On top of that, they contracted BirthCertificateState.com to do the actual search, for which I was billed an additional $79.95. I have NOT received any refund for that, and am still trying to get it. I have a feeling that I got ripped off by VitalCheck & their agent. NEVER AGAIN!!

I called this company to check the status of my order. I waited about 35 minutes on hold to cancel my order. When the representative came on, I could not find the information she needed. She advised me that she could only hold for a few moments and she would have to move on as calls are holding. I held for over a half hour and she threatened to end my call? They take your money, make you hold and don't even give you the same respect. Even her supervisor said calls were holding and made me feel as if it was proper protocol. Let me tell you, the calls will always be holding.

I decided to use vital chek to order my grandmothers death certificate so we went over all information seemingly complete then 2 days later I get an email stating record not found and the name displayed was not my grandmothers married name but was her maiden name. I called customer service and while waiting for a representative keep getting message how your call is important to us please continue to hold and we are experiencing very long wait times. If our calls and business is so important why dont they employ enough staff members to handle the work load? just empty words. I finally got to tell the representative about the issue and she said that they would review it and listen to the call and get back with me within 24 hrs which was 9 AM today. no call no email what a lousy operation. If you can avoid the headache with vital chec and their exorbitant fees for incompetence then do yourself a favor and avoid them and their 33.00 incompetence fee!!!

Went three weeks without them going over the application. Only when I followed up on my own they needed a copy of my signature from an email they claimed to have sent day one and tried blaming me for their problem. No email was located nor could they prove they sent one. When confronted they undisputedly processed a refund for their three week delayed service immediately. they would avoid answering questions when confronted about the issue. Called the local health department who was able to process the birth certificate same day as a walk up for $25 a copy. Not sure why they are advertised as the fastest method locally. Online fee expedited was just shy of $100 with a 4-6 week processing time after mailing the the application. Not even trying to dispute the issue and immediately refunding says it all. Call your local health department about faster and economic methods that are pro citizen versus just profit.
