Claimed to be Gaggia repair expert
If Perplexity.AI had not listed this company as the first of 3 recommended local shops to repair an automatic espresso machine I wouldn't bother to review it. But even AI needs additional information.
After AI said there could be only 2 problems with my machine I called "Victoria L'originale" whose owner claimed he had the equipment to test the motherboard which problem was suggested by AI. I had already installed a new display screen, the alternate problem cited by AI. He insisted on $125 for the first hour. I asked for just a diagnosis and we would proceed from there. After a day he said he couldn't identify the problem. I asked him to check the connection to the display board to be sure I installed it correctly. Another day later I drove back the 1/2 hr trip and just took the machine back after he said it would take much more work and cost to complete any repairs. When I got it home I rechecked the connection I asked him to check...and with a slight re-adjustment of that electric connection, taking less than 10 minutes including opening the case, the machine worked.
He had also told me he had several used Gaggias left by customers who thought the repair costs were too much compared to the product cost. He probably could sell me a part from them if I needed it.
So if this type of repair expert is what you are looking for, go for it
