We had my daughter's birthday party here on the 26th, and overall she had a lovely time and really enjoyed her special day, which is the most important thing. The reception staff were welcoming and friendly when we arrived.
Unfortunately, our experience with the kitchen staff wasn't as positive. We asked whether the hot dogs were halal due to a child's dietary requirement, and the member of staff pulled a face, walked off without saying much, then came back and simply said, "Yes, they are." She then put the doughnuts down without a smile or any interaction. It came across as quite rude and made us feel uncomfortable for asking a genuine dietary question.
The party organiser was polite enough and told me to connect to the Bluetooth to play music. However, we weren't given much warning before singing Happy Birthday, which felt a little rushed. They did cut the birthday cake for us, which I appreciated.
I understand it was a very hot day and probably the end of a long shift, and everyone has bad days. However, when you work in a children's play centre hosting birthday parties, a friendly attitude and interacting with families really makes a difference.
Despite this, my daughter had a wonderful birthday, and that's what matters most. Thank you to the reception team for making us feel welcome.
