Stolen my bicycle

Like the reviews believe, VC has disappeared off the face of the planet. However, they have left with my bicycle. I have been trying to get hold of them for three weeks now.

I’ve tried to call, email, and visit the address on the website but with not luck. I’m devastated that they have taken my bike and stolen it. The police will not do anything as it’s not classed as serious. If anyone has information on the owners location, I would sincerely appreciate it.

Avoid these scam artists!

Awful, avoid

I'm really sorry to have to do this but something has gone badly wrong. I was a previous happy customer and used them 3 or 4 times in May-July 2021 without complaint - in fact back then I posted a positive review because they were great. It's now November 2021 and much like the 2 reviews below this one I booked a slot and paid my £10 deposit. On the day of collection there was no update on collection time which was odd so I emailed (twice) and got no response. The next morning I tried the Live Chat - no response. It seems they have simply stopped doing business and yet the website is still happily charging punters £10 (at least) per booking....

Would give zero stars if I could

I booked a service, paid a deposit and scheduled a pick up. I received confirmation by email however I never received any communication on the day and no one came to collect my bike. I've attempted to contact the company multiple times but have had no response. Do no use this service or pay them any money.

I booked a service

I booked a service, paid a deposit and scheduled a pick up. I received confirmation by email however the pick up was not made and there was no communication. I tried to call the company and have sent multiple emails but no one answers the phone and no response via email.

I can only assume that the company is not legit.

Unable to communicate. Avoid.

I booked my bike in for a service/repair as I had a voucher from the energy saving trust. I liked the idea that according to their website, they email you the day before to let you know when they’ll collect the bike the next day so you can plan your day.
They have been a joke from the beginning. I wish I’d listened to my gut instinct.
I paid my deposit and booked collection for 30th June. I got an email asking to move the date due to a workshop repair. We agreed today 7th July instead.
However, on 29th June, I received an email saying they would collect my bike the next day. The same date they said they couldn’t do and had asked me to move. No answer on the phone so I emailed to say it wasn’t possible. No response.
At 1246 on 30th June, text received saying bike to be collected 330-430pm. So much for letting me know the time the day before to allow me to plan my day.
Called them. No answer.
Sent text to courier “Circuit” saying don’t bother coming as I’d been asked to move the date so it wasn’t possible today.
425pm missed call from the collection man who was at my door to collect the bike. Seriously??!
Tried to call next day. No answer.
They hadn’t called or emailed to find out why the van had a wasted trip or if they were going to keep my deposit or ask what I wanted to do.
Emailed to ask what was going on. Would my bike get collected today as planned? Guess what….no response. No emails or calls whatsoever.
I called today. Finally someone picked up although tbh it sounded like I woke him up (it was after 10am so not that early). I asked if they had been short staffed or if there was a problem with their emails. I was told no.
Explained I wanted a refund. Was granted quickly but no explanation whatsoever.
I wish I’d read the trust pilot reviews first.
I will also inform the energy saving trust.
Avoid. They can’t communicate.

Ruined my bike and terrible service

Really bad service. They’ve screwed my new bike up. The workmanship means my bike has come back to me screeching and not riding properly and is genuinely about 70% worse condition than it went in. Please, please don’t use this service. The convenience is a complete lie as well. They have your bike for ages, and don’t respond to any communication. They’ve ruined my bike and there’s literally nothing I can do about it

Be prepared to lose your main mode of…

Be prepared to lose your main mode of transport for a month.

Remember, their website states you’ll get your bike back within 24 - 72 hours.

I wanted to get the bottom bracket replaced, a single speed crankset installed, rear wheel inner tube replaced and single speed hub installed. I had given a crankset and rear hub which were incompatible with my frame (my lockdown bike build project was a bit overambitious) so correct ones needed to be ordered. The bottom bracket replacement was the main reason I had booked the repair, as I had bought the frame from eBay and the seller had said that it would need to be replace ‘soon’.

My Trek carbon frame and rear wheel was picked up on 17th March (a Wednesday). The bike collector said that due to a backlog, it would be looked at the following Monday. This already made the website promise null and void. I spoke to a mechanic that following week and was quoted £180 for parts and labour, which seemed reasonable as the crankset alone would cost around £100. I was told that due to the pandemic, parts were arriving slowly but they should arrive the following week.

Two weeks after receipt of my bike, I had had no updates on its progress or the parts arriving. I made 46 calls over 2 days from 10am to 5pm (the line went straight to voicemail after 5pm so I gave up). I left voicemails to call me back, messages on the webchat and emailed. The only person that did pick up the phone (on day 2) was Mark, the bike collector, whose mobile number I had from him calling to say he was on his way to pick up my bike. He said he would pass on a text message about my complaint, which I duly sent, however no one contacted me for an update. When I had told him that I had not been able to speak to any staff member, he stated "Oh 'sugar' " repeatedly, which demonstrated to me that this was a known issue. This is also borne about by poor reviews of Von Crank across various review sites.

On day 3 Kieran picked up the phone and was completely indifferent to my fury, stating “There’s only one of me”, with regard to picking up the phone. However, he had no response to why I had not been contacted despite utilising every single mode of contacting Von Crank. He claimed that I must have been calling when he was busy on another call. Considering that I spread out my 46 calls over the course of 2 days, this was clearly a lie. He also stated that they wanted to get my repair completed because it was ‘taking up space’. They only had my frame (weighing less than a kilo) and one tyre.

Kieran never confirmed the total cost, and when pressed on 16th April, he stated he would send the invoice to me by email. I was not informed of the total cost during the call. The final cost was £158 in total, which was reasonable but the bottom bracket replacement (the main task I had wanted completed was not done).

I got rid of my previous bike thinking I would be back on the road within a week.

It took another 12 unanswered calls before Kieran picked up on the 9th of April He was unable to confirm the total cost of the work, stating they would “look after me” with the price as I had been waiting so long. He stated that the bottom bracket had been ordered 2 weeks AFTER they had received the bike. This was indicative of the their attitude to their work, where the actual repair I had booked via the site in the first place was not prioritised.

I spoke to Kieran on the 16th of April. He said he had called me earlier in the week and left a message to say my bike was ready. I had not received any such message, and was astounded that having not responded to this ‘phantom’ communication, I had not been texted or emailed this news.

He informed me that the parts for the bottom bracket had not arrived. He recalled that I had said that perhaps the bearings still had some life in them, and that they had been serviced. He did not recall that his advice was to replace them completely in order to be sure of roadworthiness, so he completely contradicted his own advice. He just wanted to offload my bike back to me as soon as possible, even without the actual work requested fully complete.

My bike was returned to me on the 16th of April and although the workmanship of the repair was adequate the whole experience from start to finish was a nightmare.

I have been forced to use public transport in a global pandemic where I had been able to use my bike to circumvent this in most instances.

At times I felt like my own property had been ‘stolen’ from me as I was unable to ascertain what had happened to it. I am astounded that the majority of reviews have been pretty glowing, however I now wish I had checked more review sites as I can see that my horrific experience has been mirrored by other customers.

Lesson learned.

From now on I’ll be taking my bike to a shop where I can speak to staff face to face if I need to chase up its status. You have been warned!

Good price but very unreliable

Good price and it was picked up after some seriously odd conversations with the driver who first said he won’t be there that day and 2min arrived. However for the return the driver he will be there in 40min but then nothing. I’ve called texted and messaged on the website no response.

Rubbish

We booked an appointment for an electric bike to be repaired, that had a brake issue. The service from start to finish is devastating. The bike was taken on thursday and arrived back on wednesday following week. I had to chase up to get simple updates only to find out the bike cannot be repaired, and the bike returned with defects on the electrical wire. They said that because the bike cannot be repaired it will be returned as it was given to them for repair. The bike did not return as it was given to them. I had sent them photographs of the damage but they are denying that the damage was made by them, apparently it was like that when they got the bike. We made sure everything was switched off, the bike arrived witht the battery turned on. Utterly rubbish, no customer service at all. I would look for another repairer do not waste your time with this rubbish service. They are liars and will return your bike with further damage and blame it on the customer. I will never use their service again, have not seen such crap bike repairer in my whole life. Look elswhere.

Scratched the Paint

My bike came back with the paint scratched and after 8 months still not resolved. I would recommend taking pictures of your bike before it is taken away for repair. The manager was very helpful and apologetic but ultimately nothing has been done. Very disappointed.
