I was initially hesitant after reading the comments on Trustpilot and even considered paying more than double for another train operator in Sweden for the same route. In the end, I decided it was worth giving it a try and I’m glad I did.

We had a really great experience with VR traveling from Alingsås to Stockholm: zero delays, very comfortable seating, and an overall smooth journey. Honestly, I’m not sure what more people expect from a train ride this was as good as it gets. I would definitely choose this train again.

I am from a non-european country and living in Sweden for few years. I have used SJ extensively and looked at VR for a journey towards Stockholm from Gothenburg as the ticket price was good. And then I saw the trust pilot reviews and was taken aback a bit.
But I am writing this review as I am reaching back Gothenburg on my journey. Both journeys, to the Stockholm and Back to Gothenburg happened flawlessly today I would say.
My review is largely anecdotal as this was my first journey with VR. But compared to SJ (which whom I travelled daily for like 600KM for work for a total year) I do not see any major problems.
Both services are quite comparable (and vastly superior compared to train services I experienced in my life) according to my personal opinion.
I specially thought of leaving this review to give some assurance to someone who will be looking at trustpilot reviews in the future before trying VR. as I saw same negative reviews for SJ as well. I think it is natural to have some problematic days where delays happen and that is just the nature of train operations and it is not fair to judge a service such as trains just using online reviews.
Hence people should try the train service in reality and then come to their own conclusions. If I saw the type of reviews on SJ I would have been alarmed as well before using them.
And more importantly what I learnt is that I should leave reviews when the outcome is positive, since I think people leave reviews when they are frustrated but never do when they are pleased with a service. I myself is reaching Gothenburg soon and on time as VR promised. Hopefully my review gives hope to someone who is feeling unsure about using VR. Wish whomever seeing this review in the future a pleasant journey!
