Poor service and no accountability

I would strongly advise anyone considering using Heritage Volkswagen to think very carefully before doing so.

My vehicle was booked in for what should have been a straightforward repair — replacement of an ambient temperature sensor. I was initially told the work should take approximately 2–3 days. After waiting nearly a month just to get the appointment, Heritage Volkswagen then kept my vehicle for over THREE WEEKS because, by their own admission, the job continually kept getting pushed to the bottom of their workload.

To carry out the repair, the front bumper had to be removed. The bumper had only just been professionally replaced following a minor accident and was in absolutely perfect condition prior to Heritage Volkswagen working on the car.

When the vehicle was eventually returned, the bumper had been scratched, gouged and damaged in multiple places. I will be attaching photographs to this review.

Even more disappointing has been the way the situation has been handled since. Heritage Volkswagen have refused to accept liability for the damage caused while the vehicle was in their care. The vehicle was taken back to them to rectify the damage, but instead of properly repairing it, they simply polished the bumper in an attempt to hide the scratches and used a touch-up pen on the paint chips.

To make matters worse, they refused to deal directly with me as the owner of the vehicle because the repair had originally been referred through another garage. They have also refused to reimburse the referring garage, who are now having to arrange proper repairs themselves.

The complete lack of accountability, communication and care shown throughout this process has been extremely disappointing. I am left with no option other than to make this public so that others can make an informed decision before trusting Heritage Volkswagen with their vehicle.

Poor backorder service but good technical team.

They are poor at recommending alternatives that are not on back order.

They are poor at providing updates on status of back orders.

They are slow to send items after delivery errors.

They do not seem to apply any pressure on suppliers to commit to their delivery promises.

Their technical advice section are knowledgable and helpful.

HORRENDOUS AVOID AVOID AVOID

Shocking not even worth one star do not order from this company. Outrageous shipping fees and my order wasn’t even processed for 6 days then arguing over email after requesting a refund. Brickwerks is the place to get VW parts from wish I had not tried a different company that boasts original parts.

Great service

I recently visited the workshop in Yeovil with a clutch problem on my VW Polo Driving School car. Graham Park was extremely professional throughout the process, and went out of his way to ensue rule issue was fully covered under warranty, despite what the car is used for and it having covered a lot of miles. Cheers again Graham, and indeed Chris in the workshop.

Very good selection and quality parts…

Very good selection and quality parts available for classic VWs (Beetles and Campers). I've used them for years now and it's all fine. However, I feel they should state more clearly the grade of quality (also indicated by the country of manufacture) but specifically stating whether it average, good or very good, top quality is now important as part of the buying decision. As labour costs are so expensive now at garages, then having more availability of very good or top quality parts is evermore important. Also, in the older days, VW Heritage used to bring lots of car parts to the Volksworld show. This was ideal as we could see parts in person, inspect and buy there and then.. now, they just take orders in a very commercialised environment. Go back to how it was.

Avoid buying a second hand car from them…

Bought a 3 year old Tiguan from Weston Super Mare Mon motors/Heritage and I believe like another customer further down the reviews, that the car never had a proper pre sale check. Needed new brakes and pads after 4,000 miles with the brakes making a terrible noise and surprise surprise they can’t find a copy of the pre sale check to prove the brakes were under 70% use. Appalling post sale service, sales guy pretended all my emails went into spam and now he has left. Avoid buying a second hand car from them!!!!

Excellent buying experience at VW Bristol with Sharaz Akram

We spent some time with Kadiem looking at T Roc and T Cross models. We returned after a couple of weeks and decided on a T Roc after test drives of both models with Sharaz Akram who was extremely helpful taking time to answer our questions and help us decide which particular car to buy.
We even changed our mind from one car to another but Sharaz dealt with that in a friendly and professional manner. Since completing the purchase Sharaz has made himself available to answer my questions and show me features of the infotainment system I was having difficulty with.
We were treated as valued customers.

The car was not checked over by Heritage as they had led me to believe

I bought my polo from Heritage in Dorchester but it was collected from Heritage in Bristol. It was supposed to be in perfect order. I was told by Simon that I could come back after six months if there was a problem.
I didn't use the car much in the winter until after six months was up and had never used the air conditioning. The gas was found to be completely empty..cost me £130. At the mot I had to have new brake pads and shoes and two front tyres are almost illegal. Having done a tiny Mileage this does not sound very good and I have had to spend hundreds putting things right. It seems the car was not checked before selling at all. Most annoying and unprofessional.

Thanks Clare!

Just wanted to say thanks to Clare for her help in the Bristol office for helping me with an Electric charging Unit Replacement this week. I felt very looked after and the whole thing took much less time than I was expecting.

So I am a happy customer :)

Terrible customer service, unreliable, untrustworthy. Avoid!!

In 3 years I've had to put up with Heritage they have failed at every single opportunity to do what they promised and it feels like they go out of their way to provide the worst possible customer service. Why they offer a call back service I don't know they never and I mean never call back. Why they bother with service booking department is also a mystery, they cancel booked services at last minute. If you are lucky enough for get your car seen they don't do what was agreed. They are quick to take your money but terrible at providing any sort of service for it. You can't trust a single thing they say. When I've complained to them about their service, they asked me to email it to them, which I did, guess what, they didn't reply. I can't think of one positive interaction with them in 3 years. Just avoid!

Ordered a new T6.1 T30 October 2023

Ordered a new T6.1 T30 October 2023. Heritage updated on progress a couple of times in early 2024. I was then contacted towards the end of February saying that they had the vehicle and would issue an invoice which I should pay ready for a 1st of March collection. Received the Invoice for full amount quoted, but it had the details for a T28. I contacted them and they said it was an error they made when ordering it, when I commented that they were trying to charge me the cost of a T30 and give me a T28, they offered to re-quote, and that it was the same spec. just slightly lower load capacity(as if I didn’t know) As I need a T30, I cancelled the order and then had to chase the deposit refund. The salesman apologised and said they had some T32 vans due and would be in touch with a competitive quote, no surprise I’m still waiting for a call!!

Abs esc light on dash

We went to Heritage VW Bristol with our campervan as had abs esc light on dash, they replaced wheel sensor and when we picked up after 2 days lights still on dash, returned the same day and 3 weeks later after replacing bearing still lights on dash. We needed the camper for a booked holiday, they said would seek advice as probably electrical. Took to Audi Volks Keynsham, they resolved in 2 days, 2 broken wires and a sensor on another wheel needed replacing. Couldn’t fault Audi Volks after they resolved what Heritage couldn’t. Not impressed being a main dealer.

What a joke

What a joke!
Bought my Discovery Sport in January in Dorchester and a few months later we had a few problems. When we called I was told ‘we don’t work on land rovers’ but my warranty says to take it back to them! Confused!
Eventually My car was picked up with multiple problems, one being a fume smell in the car, it has been sat in their garage for 3 weeks and hasn’t been touched! Phone calls never returned by Graham, had to constantly call until he was available to be told lie after lie! One day there was a smell the next it had gone. It definitely hadn’t gone!! They just had no idea how to fix it!
Next day told the hold up was due to the warranty company, when I called them no claim had been made! When questioned on this, Dave let me know he didn’t know how to use the new portal so hadn’t done it!!
The chap that picked my car up and bought it back when we finally gave up waiting for our car to be fixed was lovely! Shame he had to listen to our moans about all the incompetent people he works with!
Cars sat here, same problems just minus the fuel it went with!

Passat purchase. Poor experience

Bought a passat in March at Heritage weston super-mare. Was told by the salesman the car would be serviced, undergo an MOT, and be put through a multi point inspection.
I drove the car home some 120 miles. Later, I could hear some rubbing/grinding noise which was coming from the front brake discs. My wife even commented on the noise. When I checked the DVLA site I found that it had not been issued a new MOT.
When I complained to the sales manager he took immediate action and had the car collected. I'd also complained to VW by that time.
The car was put through an MOT, and returned to me. When I again checked the MOT history, I found that the first test they conducted, was a fail due to a defective wiper blade, with the front discs wear as an advisory. It was then resubmitted and passed with no advisories. Heritage had put new discs on the car as well as a new wiper blade. So, I was sold a car that would not have passed an MOT. Not what I expect for the money I paid. Why didn't the multi point check pick up these issues? Was it conducted in the first place? I also doubt it was serviced.
I'm grateful to the sales manager for taking my complaint seriously and dealing with it in an efficient manner. I cannot say the same for the staff member who sold me the car, not impressed.
This would have been a 1 star review had it not been for the managers actions. It seems their front of house staff (the most important role) are letting them down.
Shakes ones confidence in the vehicle, I hope there are no more surprises in store for me.
