Very disappointed with how Wagamama…

Very disappointed with how Wagamama Croydon handled a serious food safety concern.

After multiple individuals from separate households became unwell following meals at this restaurant on different occasions involving similar dishes, I raised the matter directly with the company. Rather than properly engaging with the pattern of concern, they relied on internal checks and dismissed the complaint without addressing the significance of multiple unrelated people becoming ill.

Given the seriousness of the issue and dissatisfaction with their response, the matter has now been reported to the local council’s Environmental Health team for independent review.

My main concern is not only the illness itself, but the apparent lack of willingness to meaningfully investigate or acknowledge legitimate customer concerns regarding food safety.

I would urge management to take complaints of this nature more seriously in future.

I visited the Wagamama at Serravalle, I would not recommend this location to anyone.

I visited the Wagamama at Serravalle Designer Outlet today, and it was one of the worst dining experiences I have had.

We waited approximately 30 minutes just to be seated, despite clearly seeing multiple tables inside that had not been cleared. Staff appeared disengaged and unaware of the number of customers waiting outside.

After finally being seated, we then waited a further 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order. During this time, it was obvious that several staff members were not paying attention to customers, and there was a general lack of organization.

I am diabetic, and when someone eventually came over, I had to explicitly ask for a soft drink urgently due to low glucose levels. Even then, I had to repeat myself to get the staff member’s attention.

When the food arrived, my wife’s meal came first, but mine did not arrive until around 20 minutes later. No utensils or napkins were provided, and when requested, staff simply walked away.

When my dish finally arrived (teriyaki beef noodles), it was completely unacceptable. The noodles were undercooked, and the beef was visibly undercooked and still red. When I raised this with staff, I was dismissively told that “it looks ok,” which is frankly unacceptable. As a paying customer, it is my right to refuse food that is not properly prepared.

At that point, I refused the meal and left. While the manager later agreed not to charge for my dish, this does not excuse the overall experience.

The level of service, lack of attention, poor food quality, and general disorganization made this visit extremely disappointing. This restaurant does not meet even basic standards of hospitality.

I would not recommend this location to anyone.
