I bought a van from Walters Motor Group…

I bought a van from Walters Motor Group back in February 2026, seemed happy with it for a short period, then after I had it inspected my mechanic found all sorts of problems with it, I called Walters and spoke to a man by the name of Andrew he was very abrupt and rude, after that I decided to get my own mechanic to deal with the problems. Walters told me the cam belt was fine, my mechanic said there was no evidence that they had even checked it, then he discovered it needed replacing, I’ve had on going problems with the van, I’ve had to spend another £2000 to put things right. All I can say is think twice before buying any van from this company. And they don’t like to help on after sales if they can get out of it. Terrible company. Would never think about buying a van from this company, don’t be caught like me stay well away, that’s good honest advice.

We must challenge a number of the statements made, as they are inaccurate and do not reflect our records or the actual course of events.

At no stage during your dealings with us did you raise any concern regarding the cambelt. This has only been introduced within this review. We also hold photographic evidence confirming that the cambelt area was inspected as part of our preparation process.

Your only reported concern to us related to fluid around the gearbox, and you asked us to diagnose this over the phone. As clearly explained at the time, this is not possible without physically inspecting the vehicle. We arranged an appointment for you to bring the vehicle in so the issue could be properly assessed and resolved, however you cancelled this appointment and the vehicle was never returned to us.

You then chose to proceed with work through a third party (your friend) without giving us any opportunity to inspect or address the matter, and are now attributing those costs to us. This is not a reasonable or fair representation of events.

In relation to your comments about our staff, Andrew’s responses were simply to explain that a diagnosis could not be made without seeing the vehicle. Repeating this position when pressed does not constitute rudeness, and we do not accept that characterisation.

We take both our preparation standards and aftersales responsibilities seriously, and we always provide customers with the opportunity for issues to be investigated and resolved. In this case, that opportunity was declined.

You state that your review is “good honest advice” however, given the inaccuracies outlined above, we consider it to be misleading.

Should you wish to engage constructively, we remain willing to inspect the vehicle and discuss matters further.

Excellent.

My experience with this company was excellent, the customer service i received was above and beyond, trying to find me the right car. Would highly recommend this company and the very lovely staff. Very kind, helpful and welcoming. Definitely worth it.

Exceeded expectations... by a long way!

When it became apparent that I needed a new car, I wasn't filled with excitement. Having had multiple terrible experiences in and around Leicester it was concerning going into an experience buying a car 136 miles away from me.

Thankfully Debbie was amazing, communications were excellent and everything was taken care of, more than happy to answer any questions and gave all the information I could possibly need.

Due to days off and my availability we missed each other on the pick up day but Debbie had made sure between myself and her colleague that carried out the handover both had all we needed, meaning collection was fantastically smooth, the car was beautifully prepped and the 136 mile drive back in the new car could not be faulted!

A huge thank you to Debbie and the team at Walters!

Very happy customer

Early days yet but very happy with the whole experience. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, (thanks Damon), on hand that respond very quickly to any questions or concerns. Made the whole experience of buying a 2nd car, pretty much, stress free.

Two delighted customers

We are delighted with the car we purchased from Walters Motor Group. We can’t thank Debbie enough for her care and thoughtfulness. We gave her our budget, what kind of car we were looking for and she certainly came up with the goods! Not only was it just what we wanted but it was £500 under our budget and they gave us something for our old one!
All in all we had a first class experience and have no hesitation in recommending Walters Motor Group for your next car.

A great buying experience

We use walters for mots, but spotted a car when visiting for my father. From start to finish we were looked after by Debbie who helps us reserve, test drive and purchase a car which has been a wonderful addition to the fleet! Highly recommended, very friendly customer service and will visit again.

First time for me using a dealer.

First time for me using a dealers services.
I'm very pleased to say that dealing with Debbie was a very pleasant way to buy a vehicle.
My Ranger had a few issues to be sorted out prior to being ready for sale and after paying a deposit I was kept up to date on the works progress and the likely time frame for it being ready to pick up.
I wouldn't hesitate to use Walters Motor Group again and definitely recommend them on the experience I had.

Nothing was to much trouble for them

'agree to disagree'

Misled at point of sale, accident damage withheld, and statutory rights obstructed

My experience with Walter’s Motor Group has been extremely stressful, exhausting, and wholly unacceptable, particularly in relation to how this vehicle was sold to me.

I purchased a 2017 Mercedes-Benz C200 on 8 December 2025. The vehicle was sold to me by Damon Gill. Within only a few days of the sale, I experienced an issue with the parking sensors. The after care team, including Damon Gill, were fully aware that I was taking the vehicle to an independent Mercedes specialist purely to diagnose this fault.

I did not attend the specialist to inspect the vehicle’s condition or search for accident damage.

During this inspection, the specialist identified clear signs of prior accident damage to the front of the vehicle, confirmed in writing. This information was never disclosed at the point of sale.

At the time of purchase, I specifically questioned visible damage to the front bumper during the sales process. I was reassured by Damon Gill that this was simply “general wear and tear” consistent with the age of the vehicle. I relied on that explanation when deciding to proceed. At no stage during the sale was I informed that the vehicle had been involved in an accident or had sustained accident-related repairs.

Given what later came to light, it is extremely concerning that this history was not disclosed during the sale, and it strongly suggests that the dealer knew about the accident damage and chose not to mention it.

Because I live a significant distance away, the dealer attempted to shift responsibility onto me by suggesting I make a warranty claim for serious issues that came to light only days after the sale. My position was straightforward: why should I have to claim on a warranty for problems arising from information that was not disclosed during the sales process? This should have been addressed by the dealer, not passed onto the customer.

When I exercised my short-term right to reject under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, Walter’s Motor Group refused my rejection on 17 December 2025, despite the law being absolutely clear. This caused immense stress and forced me to chase the broker which also was no help (Carplus finance), then I had to escalate the matter to the finance lender due to both the dealer and the broker refusing my legal rights to reject, who ultimately had to confirm in writing that I was legally entitled to reject the vehicle.

When I raised concerns with the aftercare team about the undisclosed accident damage, Debbie Burr dismissed the matter by saying “agree to disagree”. This was an incredibly dismissive and unprofessional response, especially given that the issue stemmed from failures during the sales process.

Due to the non-disclosure of accident damage at the time of sale, I was also left seriously concerned that my insurance could be invalid, meaning I could have been unknowingly driving uninsured. The stress and anxiety caused by this situation cannot be overstated.

In my opinion, this dealer:
• Failed to disclose material information during the sale
• Misrepresented visible damage as wear and tear
• Attempted to push responsibility onto a warranty claim days after purchase
• Refused to honour a clear statutory right
• Responded dismissively when challenged

This is not how an honest or reputable motor dealer should conduct a sale.

I strongly advise against purchasing a vehicle from Walter’s Motor Group.
If you value transparency, integrity, and respect for consumer law, look elsewhere.

We are sorry to hear you remain dissatisfied, however we must respectfully dispute a number of the serious allegations made.

At no point did Walters Motor Group withhold known accident damage. Following return of the vehicle, it was inspected and diagnostically assessed at our premises and no evidence of structural or accident-related damage was identified.

The parking sensor concern raised was investigated and found not to be an inherent fault requiring repair. Diagnostic testing showed no live faults on arrival, and following routine inspection/verification (including cleaning and reseating an external connector and clearing historic stored codes) the system operated correctly, with no parts required.

The vehicle was returned having covered approximately 861 miles, and with all four alloy wheels kerbed, despite being documented as refurbished and in excellent condition prior to delivery. We hold photographic/video evidence of condition at handover and on return.

The matter was ultimately resolved commercially via the finance-linked process. We cannot comment on full details publicly due to data protection and confidentiality obligations.

We take reviews of this nature very seriously, particularly where serious allegations are made that have the potential to impact our reputation and are not supported by the evidence available. We also take our legal obligations and customer care responsibilities very seriously.

Given the seriousness of the claims in this review, we would be happy to provide Trustpilot with the full evidence pack on request, including our technician report and supporting video/photo evidence.

Car Purchase

I purchased the car without seeing it in person. I was very pleased when asking about the car to be told it would be MOTd for one year have a full inspection and replacement parts as necessary, When I picked up the car I met Damon for the first time after speaking to him only on the phone. He was very professional and showed me over the car I had purchased. I will say I am very pleased with the car and it was cleaned like new.
