Awful experience

Called in for breakfast. 25 minutes later tea coffee arrived then a further 25 minutes one of two ordered breakfasts arrived. Ask girl serving, where my breakfast was, to receive a puzzled look. Then she went and looked through the till receipts. I could see there was a debate behind the counter. I went up to the counter and asked, has there been a mistake with my breakfast? No reply, continued looking at the till, but i did receive a grunt. I said cancel my breakfast. Nothing not a comment. A take out order the person was also at the counter complaining about the length of time it was taking. Other tables were getting theirs in Part orders at a time. Four tables were sitting with dirty dishes and no one seem to notice until, approximately an hour later a guy came with a trolley and cleared and cleaned them. Whilst the waitress had walked past them on her return to stand at the till. I noticed when they were preparing the coffee the elderly lady making the teas and coffee, rubbing the inside of my cup with her thumb, not sure what the item was she tried to remove from my cup, but coffee was not taken. Whilst I understand on occasions staff can get caught out. But no apology or empathy given. My wife's breakfast she did not enjoy. We have been here before and it was okay, but awful today and customer service is appalling. Normally food is good but we will never step through the doors again. Very bad manners. I was reluctant to leave a bad review but now at 22.49 I have decided it is worthy for a bad review on our experience today. I hope they reflect and something Positive comes out of it for the business. Not sure how you would change attitude of the front facing staff. Maybe some training would help. Hope you find this review helpful / useful. We did ask and received a refund for the breakfast that was paid for but not received.

On Business?? Stay clear!

Firstly the food here is great and priced very reasonably, the issue is with the staff and owner. I attended twice this week.
I called 2 days in advance to ensure they could accommodate our group of up to 15 people, which they accepted the booking for.

When we arrived space was limited and was told they have a large outdoor sheltered space (which they do, but in mid January with freezing temperatures outside it wasn't the best option so we managed to get our group all seated indoors). We all had a great breakfast without a single complaint, had a brief meeting, and sent the guys out to brave the day, myself and my manager stayed behind, had a few meetings online and up until we left shortly after 3pm had some drinks and snacks - we spent somewhere in the region of £150.

As it was a good location for us and we were in the area myself and my manager decided to meet there again the next day, with him arriving over an Hr before me he went ahead and ate. When he was finished, a member of staff asked him if he was staying much longer (he had his laptop out doing emails, etc. And had an online meeting, which I may add disturbed no-one as he was wearing headphones) he told the member of staff he was waiting on 1 or 2 more joining him, and I arrived 15 mins later and ordered food.
Once finished, the same member of staff approached us and asked us not to be 'making phone calls' as we're were in a cafe!!

Not happy with the situation, my manager asked for contact details for the owner, and we packed up to leave.
As we were leaving, the owner appeared and basically took the same approach as his member of staff, no apology, no explanation other than to say they had a large outside area, that was it.

We THOUGHT we had found a nice place with good food at a reasonable price that we could frequent when local and help support a local business, but the manner in which we were treated and spoken to means we will not be back.

So, of you are in the area on business looking for somewhere to grab a coffee or a bite to eat, stay clear as you'll not be welcome, and god help you if you answer your phone or pull your laptop out to do any work, you'll be made feel about as welcome as a fart in a space suit!!
