I should have joined a long time ago

I joined WAFA because I wanted to exercise three times a week in a way that fitted around my working day, within a friendly group setting, and to improve my diet and understanding of nutrition. I got all of that and much more. The support, camaraderie, exercise sessions, socials, and webinars are second to none, and two years on I am proud to be a member.

WAFA - Brilliant strength programme for women

I think WAFA is great. The coaches explain the exercises carefully and give options ranging from beginner up to advanced. The movements are done individually and then combined. The emphasis is always on correct form. The coach demonstrates the movement but then watches closely to see that everyone is performing it correctly. There is a real sense of community and support. I know I have made great progress. Anna and the team are so supportive. This is a very well thought out structured programme, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Challenge yourself, step out of your comfort zone and go for it!

I joined WAFA in 2022. I was approaching 60 and decided I needed to integrate some strength resistance exercise for my future health. The calendar of workout sessions meant I could fit x3 sessions in around work commitments making it a sustainable routine. I enjoy being part of a ‘community’ supported by likeminded and non judgemental women of all ages who want to prioritise their well being. Three years on I am still there and I hope to continue for many years to come. Jo

A stand-out fitness club for women

Reeling from a stage 4 cancer diagnosis, I joined WAFA almost 3 years ago, looking to improve my fitness & particularly my muscle strength, to support my health.

There are so many positives about WAFA, but 3 stand-outs are:
1. The support. In class, the coaches give excellent advice on performance and safety and monitor your ‘form’ as you exercise, to avoid injury. Regular opportunities to check-in, realistic advice on healthy eating and motivational support all come as part of the package.

2. It really feels like a club. Although you are joining via Zoom, the classes are live and you get to know the names of regular classmates exercising with you. Plus live classes are so much better than just looking at a YouTube video (which I know I wouldn’t stick to).

3. Flexibility. The same classes cater for people of very different levels of fitness, without anyone needing to feel either over- or under-whelmed. I frequently have absences due to ill-health & have to build my fitness back up, which I can do at my own pace but with the encouragement of the coaches.

Oh, and I never feel patronised/sneered at/out of place. The classes always leave me smiling.

I'm not doing WAFA at the moment…

I'm not doing WAFA at the moment because I'm living with post-viral fatigue, but I can't wait to get back. During my absence I've been checked in on regularly with kind and supportive text messages. I started WAFA age 69 and have always taken it fairly slowly but the increase in my strength and general fitness has been enough to provoke comments and questions from friends - I am stronger and fitter and I look it. Can't wait to get back

Do it, I promise you won’t regret it!

I’ve been a long term WAFA member for over five years and the difference to my fitness strength and confidence has been astounding. I have a young family and ageing parents and a busy job but all the many options enable me to make WAFA part of my weekly routine. I’ve made dear friends along the way and at approaching 50 have the encouragement, belief and support around me to run a marathon in 2027. Do it, you won’t regret it!

I’M SO GLAD I FOUND WAFA

I’M SO GLAD I FOUND WAFA!
I’m relatively new to WAFA, having joined only 6 months ago but I am most definitely seeing improvement in my strength, balance and general fitness. At the age of 72, and finding recorded online fitness classes unsatisfactory, I decided to take an initial 2 week taster course with WAFA and am still here and loving it! I feel very supported by the online coaches, whose words of encouragement motivate me to keep going and strive to improve my form and fitness. The classes are really well structured and suited to all ages and levels of ability. Beyond the classes, there is a huge range of activities and developmental opportunities that support physical and mental fitness. I live in Portugal, and I’m so grateful to have found WAFA and be able to join the classes from my home here, as well as when I’m back in the UK. Thank you Anna!

I was looking for a kick up the butt last summer. Enter WAFA. Little did I know what a warm, determined community I'd found. Happy, sweaty online exercise, ideas for meals, mental well being discussions, terrific coaches in weights, yoga and pilates. No slacking! 5 stars for happy keep fitness.

Life changing

I have been a WAFA member for nearly three years now and I absolutely love it. Everything is thought about to support you on your fitness journey. Everyone is extremely friendly and the coaches are very knowledgeable. It’s just so easy. I love knowing that everything has been thought through and worked out for me. I just need to turn up at the class and join in. There are plenty of options and adjustments for each exercise and there’s lots of variety. I have not regretted joining for a minute. I am stronger, healthier and fitter. I have a better attitude towards my body, food and exercise. It’s my time for putting me first.

A fitness routine for life

This is the first fitness routine I have stuck to, it’s amazing! I can really see the difference in my posture and strength. I can’t recommend it enough, especially to stave off the inevitable wear and tear of aging. And so convenient. I just roll out of bed, put on my fitness gear, and switch on the computer. Go for it!

Super encouraging group

I have the same experience as many reviewers here: hit 50, knew I needed to exercise but didn’t know where to start. When I read about WAFA I felt that this could be the way in for me so I tentatively gave them my details and haven’t looked back! All the coaches are super supportive and positive and the classes are well thought through in terms of variety of exercises and adaptions for each one depending on where you are at. There is a personal aspect too - you have individual contact with a set coach who checks in on you and whom you can ask questions. 7 months in and I have seen real progress in class which has had a knock on effect out of class. I ran my first 5k in August and now regularly do park run - I had wanted to do so for years but just not had the confidence. Starting exercising can be intimidating but WAFA have me the encouragement I needed.

Great training and kind community

I am doing my workouts online and from remote, living in Switzerland. It’s great to have the feeling to be in a class, having the corrections when needed and of course the encouragement of the great coaches. And all of this without having to drive somewhere in a gym. I appreciate the fact that it’s from women for women. Absolutely no judgement and all the support from a very friendly community and very competent staff. The possibility to catch up a missed class with videos on demand is great too. I really recommend this to everyone who wants to get into a good routine in your training.

Never too old to boogie

I am one of the older WAFA members and I can honestly say that at 75 WAFA has helped me to become physically strong and just as importantly has helped me to be able to remain mentally and cognitively robust. If you are thinking of joining but think you are too old to exercise -give WAFA a try and you will surprise yourself.

WAFA wonderful

I am now 53, work full time as a Headteacher and am a single mum of two older kids.
I joined WAFA during the pandemic - encouraged by a friend who had been a member for a year before me. Frankly I didn't think it would be for me but I needed something different.
WAFA helped me refocus on what I wanted. Yes it helped me lose weight. But more than that it has taught me the importance of healthy living. I am so much stronger as a result. I get up early and WAFA have live classes early enough that I can do them before work, jump in the shower and be at my desk ahead of school starting. Perfect.
And the fact classes are live is important; coaches can respond to any niggles you share and adapt exercises in real time. And you can exercise as a group even though you are stood in your kitchen.
I have used the nutrition sections on the app and the recipes are great. I am no cook and yet some of them have become staples in my family.
I have, in my time, fallen 'off the wagon' but that's life and the coaches are always there to offer a friendly check in and a no pressure approach to getting back to where I want to be. I feel I am cared for as an individual.
I am no fan of a competitive gym environment where women over 40 are made to feel somehow inferior. We are warriors in every sense of the word and the WAFA community - exclusively dedicated to us with talks, advice, adaptations and understanding of what it is to be a 40+ female - is so empowering.

Fitness, Friendship and Feeling Strong

I joined WAFA 3 years ago and it’s been an amazing experience. I feel fitter, stronger, have lost weight and made friends along the way.

The in-person classes are excellent, with supportive coaches who make sure exercises are done correctly and help you work towards your own goals. Every class is different, the workouts are varied and fun and the atmosphere is very welcoming.

All the women are supportive, there are no cliques and you feel comfortable from day one. I definitely recommend WAFA.

WAFA has made a huge difference

I joined WAFA just over a year ago and it's made such a difference to my fitness levels. I now have muscles in my legs, glutes and arms that definitely weren't there before! I didn't think I'd take to exercising online but it feels like you're part of an in-person class, it's easy to follow and everyone is very encouraging. I wouldn't be without it now.

Started Exercise for the First Time at Almost 52!

Having reached 50 without doing ANY form of exercise since school, I knew I had to start.

I'd read tons about strength training and how important it is for women but I had no idea how to go about actually doing it. The thought of the gym filled me with anxiety and although I knew I could go on YouTube and follow thousands of videos, due to my complete inexperience, how would I know if was doing it correctly and therefore, be achieving very little or even worse, cause an injury.

What I needed was something in between the two which I didn't believe existed. I found We Are Fit Attitude in the late autumn of 2024 after reading an article in the Guardian and started training 3 mornings a week. The effect this has had on my body has been completely transformative.

I don't have huge muscles - it's not about that - but activities like gardening and going for long walks are just so much easier now. I have tons more energy and I don't get worn out like I used to. The best thing is knowing that I'm doing something so positive for my body and that strength training will keep me active, flexible and strong into old age.

The classes are varied week to week, there's a time to suit everyone and the support and sense of community is amazing.

Whatever you need whether it's advice or support on progression, nutrition, mindset, diet, it's all there. I am SO glad I found WAFA, I genuinely can't imagine my life without it now.
