Poor handling, extensive damage, and a runaround on claims
We Are The Best Moving Company was the carrier for my cross-country move from California to Savannah, contracted through the broker Safe Ship. The crew that wrapped and loaded my furniture at pickup did a great job with that part.
Everything after that was a problem. My belongings were handled poorly in transit, and a lot of it arrived damaged. When I tried to file a claim, I was given the wrong information on who to contact, which delayed things significantly. It took three and a half months to finally get the claim settled.
I also raised a billing discrepancy directly with them: I was charged for 681 cubic feet, but after measuring everything myself post-move, the actual volume came out to 324 cubic feet, less than half. Even allowing extra room for moving blankets and wrapping, it's still well under what I paid for. I emailed them about it and never got a response. It was pushed back onto the broker instead.
There was also a strange moment during delivery: the driver told me his truck was a semi and couldn't get into downtown Savannah, so I scrambled to rent a storage unit to have the shipment unloaded there instead. It turned out the truck was only an 8-wheeler, which would have made the delivery directly with no issue. The storage unit was completely unnecessary and cost me additional time and money.
Between the damage, the claims runaround, and the unresolved billing discrepancy, this was one of the worst moving experiences I've had. If you use this company, document everything and be prepared to push hard for any resolution.
