Affordable service
I will try to be as unbaised as possible.
Webtropia's main advantage throughout the years was providing affordable services. Unfortunately there will be some challenges with that ride. Below is a summary of pros and cons one can experience:
* Affordable. But there are some extra costs. You as a customer end up paying the payment provider's costs and if you have a USD payment option, you will not have a proper exchange rate as the service only provides payments in EUR.
* Their offerings and servers got upgraded through the years but you will still be stuck with the old services. Your infrastructure will be the same as they will not offer any migrations to new services and to discontinue the old ones. This makes their older customers prone to more hardware errors
* Not as reliable as competitors. Servers go down, network issues and hard disk issues occur and the team will not take the initiative to monitor and fix. You need to raise a ticket. So if you are sleeping and a server goes down due to a network issue, it will remain down the entire night as the internal monitoring is unsatisfactory. Other services notify us automatically that they are checking the issue and letting us know that it got fixed without opening a ticket. This is the main reason I am leaving to a different one as production services cannot go down for hours
* once you open a ticket, the technical team is helpful and will fix it.
* One of the worst contract terms I have witnessed in the industry. You need to notify them 4 weeks in advance if you would like to discontinue a service. So if you have a monthly contract and you want discontinue it, you will end up paying 2-3 extra invoices until it expires. This is contrary to other services where you can discontinue the service an hour before the renewal without extra costs
* Not a single thing is done for customer retention. I have been a customer for more than 7 years and never got a single offer or even a 1 cent discount. Other services put effort and money to reward loyalty.
* Do your own external DRP if this is production
* Customer support is not there to help you but protect the interest of the company. I had a bad experience with their payment provider (there is a different review about that) where the customer support started to use a threatening tone even though it is their providers issue and they deactivated all of my servers. They don't try to help you at all or contact their providers to help you but you feel you are talking to a wall.
This is a summary of my experience with Webtropia. I do see potentials with the service but they need to raise their level as being affordable is just one piece of the puzzle. We had services distributed with 3 different providers and webtropia was mainly used for test services only for limited budget projects. Once a service goes to production, we migrate it to another provider
VPS sudden shutdown by Webtropia
I rent a VPS, pay for it. 5 days ago Webtropia sends an email that I use a MS-SQL-product on that server that I did not buy with them. I indeed use SQL-express, a free to use ms product. So I wrote a ticket about that (I was instructed to use the ticket system), but before I got an answer, they shutted down the server today, on a sunday, because of a license violation. Cant call them on a sunday... The server is an email server for my small company, so shutting it down is really not a good idea at all. My advice not to buy webtropia or myloc (= the same) is because of the rudeness of shutting a server down while in discussion on something, 5 days after an issue is raised. That is not customer oriented at all. Better find another VPS provider.
Update 8-2: After many emails discussing who's fault it is (most emails blame me), Webtropia concludes it is the fault of Microsoft. And they offer a one-month credit. Although I appreciate the gesture of the month credit (I added one trustpilot star rating for that), I find it still hard to understand how they can be so stuburn in blaming everyone else but themselves.
Staff deletes server, then says "not our concern"!
Definitely stay away!
As a result of the wrong action of the accounting officer, they deleted my server. Instead of apologizing, they said "your backups don't concern us".
When I wrote on the first day, they said that the problem is technical, the technical team is interested. They wrote that your presentation was deleted on the second day.
Anyone with a conscience should not take service from this company.

Uptime issues, nodes not monitored by them
Uptime is not the best, my vps server was offline more than 1 hour this month. I had downtimes each month (1-2 per month). Biggest downtimes were of 51 and 70 minutes. If you want to host critical services you should look to other providers.

Worst support I ever seen
Worst support I ever seen, people that work there don't even try to help or answer any questions. Technicians don't know they work.
This company is legit a scam
This company is legit a scam, their customer support and IT "professionals" are completely incompetent.
They try to prove to me that their connection are what they advertise, and still uses an internal ip address in their own datacenter to ping up against to prove that they are right and their connections for their servers are what they say they are. They even went so far to think it was my personal connection that had issues. Even though any legit speedtest on their hardware showed them dead wrong. Promissing 100Mbps guaranteed and getting 2Mbps thrown into your lap.
This to me shows malicious intent, they are not worth anyone's money and will even after less than 72 hours after buying their product, refuse refunding your money because of their terms of service.
Your terms of service doesn't count for anything when you can't even deliver what you are advertising with.
I do not care about the money i lost on this company, for anyone else just stay away from this company.
I'm never gonna deal with any of the companies in the MyLoc group again, they should have no right to even touch data-infrastructure of any kind.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM
I'll tell you my little story with this host. I order a storage server for 24 months, I order with my credit card, I have the security sms from the bank that I validate. I wait for my order, they ask me for an ID card for verification. I send my ID card. Then, they ask me for a proof of address, so I send a proof of address. Then they tell me to place the order with my bank account (direct debit) for security reasons, always! I refuse, I think I have already paid and I'm tired of their security which is useless. I leave.
I come back 2 weeks later, because they are the cheapest. They ask me again for an identity card (for the same server) I send my identity card. I ordered, still, for 24 months and I took care to put direct debit with my coordinates. They tell me, for security reasons, please pay by credit card. This is totally illogical for my first order.
I do it, I pay by credit card.
The service proposes an automatic installation in RAID 0 or RAID 1 for the disks, but I needed RAID 10. So I go to the support, to ask if they can switch my hard drives to RAID 10, guess what? I learn that I have to pay 35 euros more per month to switch to RAID 10.
Totally wrong service. To be avoided.

Totally nightmare experience 💩
I should ended here with their poor support.
I have purchased a vps. They deliver real quick. 1 star for that. Then no more star.
After purchase within 6 hours I got abuse report that my vps will be terminated, reply on abuse report immediately. WOW!! I even don't touch that vps. Even not a OS installation. Sucks!
I contact with them asap. They informed the mail is related due to their past client on same IP. They help me to whitelist the IP from outlook, but gmail still ban the IP and mail sent to spam delivery! All because that IP used by spammer before!!!
In 30-days they send me 12 times abuse mail report with same things for their past mistake. I almost beg them touch their feet to give me new vps or, new IP. And they finally give me reply after 30 days ans 12 abuse reports, that I need to contact with abuse reporter in behalf of them! So that will be the result if I do that? I need contact with legal authorities with my identity and reveal my name, contact email and phone to them. So these legal authorities count me as scammer. All this because of webtropia past abusers on their IP.
So beware how they are doing their business. They don't resolve their own mistake. They threaten users to terminate the VPS with each abuse report. And they inform customer to solve these bunch of abuse which actually causes by their past users. Where as true business hosting provider should resolve it by giving new IP or, server replacement or, they contact with abuse reporters and inform them to stop sending mails to new users since its no longer active. This is one kind of scam activities what a company is doing. So no more webtropia. It sucks!
