The toilets were disgusting it's a good job l had my own hand sanitizer .l had to use them because l was desperate but l can't understand when the public traffic is heavy there wasn't a cleaner on duty. Massive disappointment.😟 The rest of the service was good 👍
Scammers
I urge everyone to avoid this deceitful, theiving, scam of a company! They "employ" you and DO NOT pay you!! Twice now i have worked for Welcome Break and both times have had nothing but problems receiving my wage ! I recently started working part time in the Days Inn hotel as a room attendent on the 23rd of May 2023 on a 16 hour per week contract. I arrived for every shift on time and always ensured the rooms I had to do were completed yet despite this the company has decided to steal the little money they were due to pay me! The only money I have had from this company is a 1st payment of £88.69 on 13th June 2023 and a final payment of £235.78 on 20th of June 2023. DISGRACEFUL!!! The manager Caroline was also fairly incompetent as I was unable to clock in and out from day 1 and raised this issue multiple times with multiple staff however I know fully believe this is a tactic used by the company to allow them to under pay and scam their employees! As i previously said avoid at all costs unless you are happy supporting a company that doesnt even pay its workers correctly!
Andy and Tony; a credit to their company.
My husband and I broke down on the M74 homeward bound for Fife.
We managed to limp to the Welcome Break at Abington services, after two stints of being on the hard shoulder which was unbelievably frightening, where we spent fifteen hours until we were recovered.
Andy and Tony, the two lovely men who worked at the service station, were extremely nice, friendly and helpful. Allowing me to charge up my phone, even tried to get us a room in the hotel.
Thank you both for your concern and help.

Never a Welcome Break
BTW this review will remain until I receive an adequate resolution. Poor choice of food, high prices especially for petrol. A few months back, I parked, went for a walk then back to the restaurant for some lunch and to use the WiFi. To my great surprise, I received a £100 fine in the post for parking. I did a quick survey of customers and nearly 100% were not aware that there was parking time limit. Do yourself a favour and drive on.
What a rollercoaster
We popped in at 10:40am ish and saw Subway didn't much of a que (1 family of 3) so jumped on over for a tasty sandwich! The server was just finishing the breakfast sandwiches that they ordered. While the other two servers stood around talking to each other. No one even smiled at us or acknowledged our existence. For a moment I thought we where ghosts! Almost 5 minutes past before they even figured out how to say hi!
We placed our order which was very painful. Firstly the guy who served us did nothing but mumble which made for a painful conversation when we where simply trying to pick bread. After that ordeal the serve realised he didn't have the stock out to create my sandwich. So he mumbled something else and disappeared at the back of the shop.
My partner and I questioned weather or not he would return or if he had given up and just quit. After about 5/10mins he did actually return, bmuch to our suprise.
I had gone to the car as we realised we left my partner's wallet in there with blue light discount, by the time I'd returned my sandwich was still in process of being completed. As he had to keep popping out the back to grab more ingredients.
By the time he had finished creating my sandwich, he then restarted the painfully tedious process again with my partner, running out back and grabbing more things.
At this point we had given up on life. We honestly just wanted to go anywhere theses servers weren't. I understand how hard and stressful hospitality is as I worked in the industry for many years. However a simple, "hey guys can you give me just a mins to top up my station as I'm out of everything" and we would of been happy to wait.
We did want drinks and a cookie each but gave up as we were both just wanting to get away from this amazingly terrible experience. You’re team are not completely useless though, you can always use them as a bad example.
I feel alot of retaining is needed, basic customer service skills need addressing.

Just been to services near Derby had a Greggs sandwich and sausage roll, excellent service staff very friendly, very clean service.
AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAQUE
We stopped at the Leicester East Services as we were meeeting up with a group of about 20 other Ford Mustang Drivers for a drive to the British Motor Museum at Gaydon for the annual Mustang Day - we arrived with loads of time to spare so though we would have a Bacon roll, we got up to the food hall - where the VAST majority was shut, at 10am, SERIOUSLY ?
The queue for the GOOD BREAKFAST was not massive but it was ok, wow, how wrong were we, the staff there are just useless, sorry, but they are, I know what I am talking about too as I ran TWO restaurants before moving to another job, again in the customer services industry.
They were SLOW, well, slow was not the word, they had I believe SIX staff on, with about half doing nothing, they had a pensioner at the back doing the cooking, not that chucking sausages etc into a deep fat fryer is cooking, but he just could not keep up, there was no apologies for keeping people waiting, no PLEASE or THANK YOU, no customer service at all, when we did eventually get to the till to pay before we got our food, so you are stuffed after that, and had to wait, the time just disappeared, we were in the small queue for 30 minutes, FFS, 30 minutes for a bacon roll and a Sausage/bacon in a roll, which cost £9.00 the bacon and sausages are clearly the cheapest they could find, as they had no taste except lots of salt, and fat - by the time we had got the food, the rest of the group were leaving, so only one of us could eat the food as they were driving, so they had a cold roll on arrival at the event 55 minutes away.
The hygiene was less than acceptable too, with no gloves worn by the staff that were handling the food, food being thrown around, picking up sausages straight from the fryer, with tongs and carrying them across the walkway to the serving area, whilst dripping oil is not acceptable, and downright dangerous, food that was dropped, and there was plenty of that, was just picked up off the floor and thrown out with no hand washing after - this place is a disgrace, If I were in charge the staff would either be sacked for dangerous practices, or the place shutdown for total staff retraining - and I have done that in the past, again, I KNOW what I am talking about - we will never ever use this shower of uselessness again, and fully advise everyone against it.
NO APOLOGIES, NO THANK YOU or GREETINGS - CHEAP TASTELESS FOOD - RIP OFF PRICING - STAFF WITH NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING - BREAKING HYGIENE RULES - and so on and so on and so on - AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THEY HAVE THE PLAGUE.....
AND NO THEY WERE NOT BUSY - before the manager or anyone replies, not that it looks like they bother responding to peoples complaints, and there are more of them than anything else for this company

1. There are NO nightime facilities available to drivers. All food venues shut only thing open is a WH Smith with disgusting over priced sandwiches that you would not let a dog eat big welldone to Welcome Break for looking after the night workers not!!, petrol stations lock their doors at 10pm wont even allow a toilet visit.
2. The state of their premises is disgusting, dirty or closed with truck parks that look like Afghanistan side streets full with pot holes( Burtonwood, Hartshead Moor to name 2).
3. Staff demoralised, rude unfriendly.
This company needs a serious kick up the backside........
The Starbucks coffee is awful
The Starbucks coffee is awful , tastes just like hot water , if you need coffee go to the Costa Vending machine far superior coffee

This evening my sons car broke down on the M6 and was towed to Southbound Keele Service he has only just passed his test and was distraught. Andy Carter at WH Smith’s was so helpful and supportive which is quite unusual these days. Thank you Andy this meant a lot to me and demonstrated what a great person you are.
A BIG thank you
Don’t go there! Bishops Stortford off M11
Go there (Bishops Stortford) annually at Christmas to exchange presents with a friend.
Over the years it’s got gradually worse. To be fair it’s never been great but the breakfasts were tolerable.
Today it was cold in there and we sat in there getting colder. They now think it’s a good idea to give you breakfast in these disposable boxes and you have to eat with wooden knives and forks!
Gone are the hot plates that gave you a chance to eat a warm breakfast.
We’re ditching our annual visit there and will find somewhere a little more warm and inviting.
Good Samaritan at Welcome Break Gretna
You renew my faith in human nature, I had a slight accident that left the front valence of my car hanging off. I asked numerous drivers if they had a screw driver to remove it. In the end my passenger approached the hotel reception to ask if they had a maintenance dept. Yes the receptionist said his name is Garry they would try to find him. Anyway to cut a long story short Garry turned up and offered to help. Immediately getting on his hands and knees and to my amazement started undoing the offending screws. He suggested I drive round the block to test everything was ok before he left. I cant thank him enough he was a hero it saved me calling the insurance to get towed. Not only that he refused any recompense. Thank you Garry you’ve renewed my faith in human nature. You will get your reward in heave happy Xmas yes
WELCOME BREAK FLEECING CUSTOMERS AT CHARNOCK RICHARD
The fuel prices at charnock richard services on the M6 are astronomical, it was £1.79 a litre for petrol and £1.99 a litre for diesel. That is around 30p more than what most petrol stations charge. Blatant profiteering from welcome break and they should be ashamed of themselves. Should be renamed rip off break!
Appalling customer service
What customer service? Left 5 messages on Tel number 01279 653388. Sent email. No response. Finally got through to Peter on 01908 299700 who said he would send me an email before the end of the day. Still waiting! Website states disabled toilets are being refurbished and my question was how long is the walk to the nearest disabled toilets as the wheelchair will be packed under all the luggage. Journey is tomorrow. Tried calling again today and cannot get through and get cut off. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Most Immoral business ive ever come…
Most Immoral business ive ever come across, the sheer greed beggers belief. prices are a joke. Even subway has been banned from providing a coffee with a breakfast sub because its in this place. I hope people avoid these places like the plague and they go bust.
Don’t use these places if you want hot food at night.
Driving back from France and already some 15 hours into the journey I really needed some hot food.
Stopped at the Oxford services and, whilst the motorway signage promises a wealth of choice, not a single outlet was open. Just the typical services shop with three coffee machines, two of which were being cleaned at the same time (??). Decided to buy a coffee and drive a bit further. The coffee was disgustingly bitter and was binned at the next stop.
Unfortunately, this next stop was another Welcome Break at Warwick. Same advertising, same end result … nothing open at all.
The signage was also very bad. Having a trailer we were looking for the caravan parking area. You see the signs at the end of the slip road, follow that direction and then it’s like they forgot to add any more and you just end up parking amongst the lorries.
Unwelcome break
Unwelcome break, Warwick services.
Stopped at Warwick services at 20.30 this evening. My daughter, who is Coeliac, wanted some hot food. Only hot food available was neither suitable nor healthy. In fact only 2 choices of food available in services for her, Sushi or porridge. No hot healthy meals readily available in any format at all. Welcome break not alone here, this is a systematic problem with UK motorway services not providing what is really needed.
