I had a very unpleasant experience…

I had a very unpleasant experience bournemouth square at Wenzel’s Bakery on 16 January 2026 at around 12:55 PM. The sales executive who served me was extremely rude.

I was purchasing a sandwich and politely mentioned that I had received a discount the previous day using my bus driver’s pass. Instead of explaining the policy properly, she spoke to me in a rude and disrespectful manner.

No customer deserves to be treated like this, especially for asking a simple question. Staff should be polite and professional at all times. Please be aware of this behaviour.

If you want it shorter, stronger, or more polite, tell me and I’ll adjust it.

Long wait for just a drink

I was in your Watford store in Watford High Street.
I'd ordered a hot chocolate and the assistant vanished to the back and I was thinking he was making me my drink. After 5 minutes or more he returned and just looked at me. I asked him for my drink and said something about he'd made a coffee but now was going to make my hot chocolate like he was doing me a favour. I think he'd forgotten about my order. Didn't even apologise😕

Just back from Wenzels in Reading town…

Just back from Wenzels in Reading town centre (opposite John Lewis). Will be my last visit.

Asked for a tuna salad bagette (baguette of the day @£2.50). Picked up a Tango and a packet of crisps. Went to the counter, and was asked by the staff member "do you want the meal deal". I said yes, and they then said the total was £7.00. I asked how much for the crisps (£1.25) and the drink (£1.75), so I challenge "why is it £7.00". Was told that I had asked for the meal deal, and that is £7.00! I politely challenged and said that I wanted "the cheapest way to buy the three items". Was told again that I had asked for a meal deal. Wow. Incredible.

Best sandwich platter !

Collected a sandwich platter from the South Chingford Store this morning for my Grandsons' Birthday Party.

Met by friendly, helpful staff. I can honestly say that it was the best of its kind that I have tasted. Everyone loved the fresh generously cut mixed filling sandwiches. Also, excellent value .Well done, and I will be buying again .

Absolutely unacceptable

Absolutely unacceptable. I got a southern fried chicken baguette and it only had 3 pieces of chicken nuggets in it. I paid 4.50 for the the Chicken not the lettuce. This is unacceptable.

Wenzels Rayners Lane branch has to be the most horrific place I’ve seen let me start by saying I’m a vegetarian I went to buy croissants and the smelt like bacon because it was cooked in the same oven and the bacon was at the top tray and the croissants at the botttom so all the bacon was dripping and it went on the croissant when cooked don’t the Wenzels owner understand that food can be cross contaminated 😔

You do not pay your staff their salary on Public Holidays - You are a disgrace....

I was very upset to find out you only give your staff the minimum wage, and also only give them one days holiday a month. They are women with kids that need more support from their employer and cannot afford to take a day off when they need to. As a major food provider you should not be making the ladies, or gentlemen use their annual holiday to be paid when you should be giving them time off and paid when you are closed as a business. I will never buy a product from your company again. You are playing with innocent peoples lives and wellbeing.

Hot baguettes hard and dry

Salisbury branch. Bought 2 hot baguettes, one veg and one pepperoni. Both were very hard and dry and mostly inedible. The fillings had dried out and the bread was so hard we couldn't bite through it! It's obvious they had been sat in a warming unit for several hours. Particularly disappointed as the last time we ordered, it was lovely. I wouldn't buy from here again unless I knew it was going to be freshly made.

Wrong prepare an order.

Order online from London Rd. High Wycombe branch, 2 baguette and chose WHITE BREAD. Order with Delivero. When receive order I was shocked as it was made with seeds bread. I have to throw away as I'm alergic at seeds. Make complain on Delivero and present picture with order no and baguette. Order no.: #9753 place at 12:29, on 16-10-2025.
I make complain but after 24 hours , no answer...!!!
I try to call and all time phone is busy.
A time ago I was in shop in London Rd, H, Wycombe and get in at 17.45. On female at counter prepare something and total ignore me. Finally, with a rude attitude, she ask me what I want. I ask, and in same rude manner, she say they not have as is finish but she take care to inform me is 17.55 and in 5 minutes will close. Is absolute disgusting what bad customer service they have. Is absolute proof of ignorance and incompetence pe pay attention to orders...
I advice ppl to avoid this place and other branches as I see by other reviews in all branches have this bad attitude in front of customers.
SHAME TO YOU WENZEL....!!!!
