Westgate Orlando is unsafe

Owners for less than six months and today the detective has confirmed it was a Westgate employee who broke into our villa in Orlando and who stole a purse. You are not safe at Westgate. If you are an owner, I highly recommend that you reconsider. I do have receipts and information that I will start posting once this case is closed with Orlando PD.

While on a family vacation in Orlando

While on a family vacation in Orlando, a Disney ticket seller offered us a $200 gift card in exchange for attending a tour of a Westgate resort. I was skeptical but agreed to go, believing it was a promotion for the resort. Upon arrival, we enjoyed a buffet before a salesman asked about our vacation preferences before presenting the time share offer. After the tour, the salesman claimed we could use a two-bedroom unit in any Westgate resort, not just in Orlando. He then laid out the payment plan which we said we couldn’t afford as money was tight. The salesman left and returned with his manager who also was his father and who offered a discount. I was very frustrated when it took another six or more hours to get our $200 gift card as they kept sending us to different floors. I asked if we could cancel if we changed our minds and was told we had ten days to do so. I also asked about maintenance fees, which were described as happening every two years. However, there was no mention that the maintenance costs would go up nor was there any information about the full financial implications of this purchase. Since signing the contract, we looked up Westgate’s reputation online and it was atrocious. So, we initiated several phone calls to cancel the agreement, but every phone call was unsuccessful as we’re simply told “let me transfer you to someone who can help.”  Over the past three years, we’ve realized that Westgate Resorts pushed us into a purchase that was not in alignment with our vacation needs or financial situation.

Don’t waste your time or money with…

Don’t waste your time or money with this scam of a company. They sell you something someone else doesn’t want and provide false information about all of the amenities and opportunities. I am almost done paying for it and want to give it back and they want to charge me $3k, seriously!

Do no attempt to book this hotel

Do no attempt to book this hotel. Dated rooms, persistent pungent smell, clogged up toilets, cockroaches in bathroom, poor ventilation, usd50 charge per day for hotel public WIFI, constant breach of privacy with housekeeping barging in without consent and the list goes on. Do not book, you will find several other hotels on the street and surrounding . Positive: the exterior of hotel is aesthetically beautiful but you will soon be in a state of shock once you step into the hotel and discover it gets worse once you step int the room. DO NOT BOOK

We had a terrible experience with…

We had a terrible experience with Westgate that began in 2019 when my wife and I were lured into a pressure sales pitch to purchase during an anniversary trip. We were persuaded with free cruises and a chance to generate income through timeshare rental, but after multiple rejections, the pressure escalated to an aggressive real estate pitch for a "cheap" foreclosure. The sales process was rushed and legally deficient—important documents were never disclosed. Everything was skimmed over and rushed through.

When we finally visited the Westgate Villas Resort, the unit was much smaller than promised, and the promised rental income was nonexistent. We were misled into upgrading, which only worsened the situation. During the pandemic, we couldn't cancel or use the property but were still forced to pay increasing fees. The availability of units was also restricted, making it impossible to generate the promised rental income.

The deceptive tactics, false promises, and failure to disclose important contract details have caused financial strain and emotional distress. Our advice is don’t engage with Westgate and save yourselves the trouble.

Westgate employs liars and deceitful…. I would have given 0 stars but I had to give at least 1 to submit my review

Westgate employs liars and deceitful salesmen that are very smooth talkers and exude trust, but don’t be fooled! If you talk to anyone that works at Westgate, you will fall victim like us.
In June 2017, my husband and I spent hours listening to their high-pressure sales presentation where we finally caved in and bought a Westgate timeshare at Myrtle Beach. Westgate teaches their salespeople incredible techniques to use on unsuspecting tourists like us, promising great experiences and repeatedly pushing the idea that this timeshare is an investment. They even took our driver’s license to get copies. We didn’t know why but when they returned, we were told we qualified for a Westgate credit card that we could use to conveniently pay our yearly fees. Since then, we have NEVER been able to schedule anything. Even with an upgrade, we have literally paid tens of thousands of dollars over the past 7 years, and we have never been able to use our week vacation because there is never availability. What a waste and a burden. Stay away!

Only did a 1 star because 0 wasn't…

Only did a 1 star because 0 wasn't available.
Saleswoman was extremely fake sweet. Until I said no. The complete shut down and dejected look. No more about her kids, husband, family winery....
If for no other reason i would not buy because of this level of fakery and deception. I wouldn't trust anything they said without a lawyer review.
For a 90 min presentation we were promised a breakfast and 150 reward.
I have been to Motel6 and seen a better Breakfast. Horribly cheap and a clue as to how their program/product likely is.
After 2.25 hrs I was going to leave and it was implied if i did there might not be any $150.
The 1 bedroom at 60,000 was reduced to 7,000 after the third NO and third salesperson. When they plan to oversell by that much how would you trust anything was not a rip off?
The model which is supposedly the top of the line had pealing formica coffee table and cheep cookie (1) in zip lock bags.
Get ready for pounding music and over hyped theatrical excitement from an army of salesppl. One kind one on our way out did point out a great food court on the next floor.
Set your 90 min alarm. Say no. Watch the mood change and the constant "just one more minute" that goes on for another 45 min.
Remember, 60000 went to 7000 with 3 NOs. I can send you the written offer he mistakenly left on our table.
If you have the time to waste and want to waste theirs it could be fun.

Westgate misleads people

Westgate misleads people, using manipulative tactics to trap them in a cycle of debt. Their marketing is designed to hide the negative aspects of their product and bury critical information in fine print—details that are nearly impossible to read or fully understand. During the contract signing, they handed me paperwork filled with small print, knowing I had no time to review it, yet expected me to trust their word without question. Don’t trust a word they tell you!

This all started in January 2021 in Florida. Upon arriving at our hotel, we were approached by a Westgate rep in the hotel lobby and was offered a "free" 4-day, 3-night vacation to attend a timeshare presentation.

He asked me about my occupation and income, and then he immediately scheduled me for the timeshare presentation. He assured me that I would receive the vacation package after the presentation.

I returned to Florida in August 2021, with my children. The kids were thrilled, but, I found myself under intense pressure to upgrade my contract. The agent showed us fancy rooms with Jacuzzis and high-end amenities. After a long day of being pressured, I caved and upgraded.

After several months of making payments, I received a call from a Westgate agent, who suggested I purchase additional points to use for vacations anywhere in the world! I paid $3,600 for 45,000 points. However, when I tried to use those points for a trip to Dubai, Westgate claimed to know nothing about the points program. When I asked about the equity I had supposedly built up in the property, they told me that timeshares don’t function like physical property and gave me the runaround.

Westgate reported me to the credit bureau, and my credit score dropped from 795 to 620. As a result, I am now unable to secure a home for myself and my children, which has severely impacted on our mental health. After researching, I discovered that the entire timeshare system was a scam! Had they been honest, I would never have agreed to any of this. 08

Ridiculous increase in Maintenance Fees

We have been owners for 20 years. Not always easy to deal with. Why are my maintenance fees over 1700.00 for odd years, we paid under 1100.00 in 2023. That’s a ridiculous amount. I WOULD NOT recommend Westgate to my worst enemy.

Westgate is a trap they sweet talk you into signing at these presentations. They will rather you lose your home just so you can keep paying them their money. Don't fall for their promises they will bleed you dry and not care. They have third party affiates that will hound you every other week promising you free vacations, cruises, and etc if you upgrade your contract.

Salespeople working in your WORST interest

Westgate is horrible and if I could give negative stars on this review, I would. Timeshare companies like them prey on vulnerable individuals, offering false promises and manipulating emotions to secure a sale. My ex-partner and I tried to explain to the representatives that we were uninterested in purchasing a timeshare, but they kept “getting us better deals” to the point where we wasted half a day of our vacation going to this worthless presentation. After several hours of significant pressure, they finally wore us down, and we agreed to sign. Then one of their representatives coached us on what we should say to the loan officer “in order to get approved.” So, looking back on it, it seems they knew that financially, this was not a good investment for us, yet they pressured us to sign it anyway. Don’t sign a timeshare contract with them unless you want to have a financially draining “liability.”

RUN dont Walk!!!

All of the negative reviews of Time Share sales are correct. They could sell a dead man shoes with their high-pressure tactics. You are locked once you may find that this was a terrible idea, but they do not care about their customer needs or complaints. The only way out is to pay their extortion fee from the mediation (non-mediation) department. I would give them a zero if could! How can this be legal?

Can’t believe the government allows corrupt corporations to take advantage of people just like that without shame. Please don’t stop until you get justice. I have retained an attorney but seems that Westgate has the luck and nothing has been accomplished to get out of this nightmare. Please write to State department
Consumer finance.gov
Federal Trade commission
FL state attorney general office-myfloridalegal.com
FL division of consumer services
Consumer protection office- the county
Department of commerce
ARDA- american resort development association and any other organization that you can think of.
Westgate needs to stop!
