The worst...simply the worst.
I tried booking a flight to London, only to have it immediately jump to double the price. Called Westjet and they would not honour the price I had only minutes prior. Thus began a 24 hours looking for an alternate flight that would be a fun stop-over, for about the same price. Settled on Rekjavik and was about to pull the trigger when lo and behold the price went back down on the original flight. What a waste of time but at least I get to travel non-stop as planned, and hassle free...or so I thought. I try booking and...there's an error. I try again and NOW it's saying I have a booking in process, please call customer service. That process was 45 minutes because the agent could not figure out how to combine Westjet points and card payment. Even then I had to ask for them to waive their $25 booking fee for the privilege of wasting my time. Horrible horrible horrible everything with this airline, seemingly every time. It saddens me to think of how far they have fallen in 10 years. If I could give negative stars I would.
WestJet Failed to Deliver on Promises.
WestJet Failed to Deliver on Promises.
We recently flew with WestJet from Saskatoon to Paris, and our experience was extremely disappointing. Their service, policies, and procedures are far from the image they try to project.
Our flight left Saskatoon late, which caused us to miss our connection in Calgary for Paris. We were then rebooked on a flight to Reykjavik, Iceland, but once again, we received no email or clear communication, despite being told we would get information within 15 minutes. Thankfully, we had the common sense to go to a WestJet counter ourselves to find out what was happening.
Because of these last-minute changes, our luggage, stroller, and car seat were all lost. We arrived in Paris with none of our belongings—while traveling with a young child. The so-called explanation for the delay was “mechanical issues,” which WestJet claims do not qualify for compensation. This lack of accountability added an enormous amount of stress and frustration to our trip.
Overall, this was a very poor experience. The excuses given, combined with the refusal to take responsibility or provide compensation, show a lack of professionalism and competence. I will be much more cautious before ever booking with WestJet again.

Excellent service
Excellent service, I left a sentimental necklace on that couldn't pass through security, and Isaac the manager was kind enough to hold on to it so my lover could grab it and keep it safe. He waited patiently for him to arrive and I am extremely greatful for his extended effort to keep the item safe.
Was Given the last seat in the Plane instead of the Club Class Seat I Paid For
I booked Club Class tickets for my husband and me on a WestJet flight to Tulum from Toronto on Feb.22, 2025. Before we boarded the plane, I was called to the service desk and told that I would have to move to the last seat in the plane instead of in the front row seat I had booked! (They said the seat would have to be saved for a stewardess as their seats were not working.) I was told that I would be reinbursed for the cost of my upgrade, but I never received a credit and never heard a word back. When I wrote to them, they took months to reply, only to tell me I had to call a customer service number to "see if" I would be entitled to a refund! I tried calling several times but was put on hold for so long that I gave up.
Customer Service at its Best West Jet Staff Montego Bay Jamaica
Today I experienced the very best Team effort in Customer Service.
To the West Jet Staff at the Sangster International Airport Montego Bay Jamaica, I applaud your dedicated support in enabling me to board my 10:30 am Flight to Toronto .
I will never forget how courteous, helpful, respectful and resourceful you all were.
Miss Sasha and Mr Mickoy and All Staff , my sincerest appreciation to you all.
Flying Westjet in 2025!
A mish mash of confusion over their own policies and a struggle to communicate at a resolvitive level with guests, I do not see this company being around long.
Speaking to multiple employees to assist with what should be easy fixes within the Company Policy yielded the terrifying truth that many of them don't know. Baffled by what I uncovered, I went to go review policy personally and did my best to help guide the employees- only to find out it was too late to resolve. Not by my inaction, but by a lack of training for guest orientated staff.
Despite confirmation that my disposition was indeed a lack of policy knowledge by the representative, there would be no fixes, as policy seemed to differ between who you spoke with.
All in all, I will be moving forward with more competent, guest forward airlines. This was pathetic.
They will force you to pay extra for carry on
At the airport they forced me to pay $58 to bring a standard sized carry on bag, which should have been included for free. Then they lost it for several hours. Then they refused to refund the fee and refused to compensate for losing my luggage.
Terrible experience with WestJet
Our Maui – Vancouver flight was delayed 29 hours! and the airline refused to compensate us, using the ridiculous excuse that “the crew was sick.” The staff at the counter was extremely rude, made us wait over 30 minutes due to issues with the new tickets, and to top it off, they tried to charge us again for our carry-on luggage, which had already been paid for on the original booking. Awful service, zero accountability, and terrible customer care. Never flying WestJet again.
Flight at 10am
Flight at 10am, arrived at gate 9:52am (literally just after they called final boarding call) cause of toddler problems. Said we got there too late and wouldn’t let us on plane. No refund, no way to rebook. Nothing. Trash airlines, trash customer service, trash attitude.
WestJet with special guest flight attendant James the comedian!
We recently flew between Toronto and Edinburgh and the flight was on time, smooth flight, good food (shortbread was one of my fav plane snacks) but the best part was a flight attendant named James who was so nice, thoughtful and hilarious, he made the flight enjoyable and is the reason I’m writing this review. He joked with me about my Coke Zero requests, he was so funny we actually wondered if we were being recorded for a tv show or something. Thank you for everything James and the entire WestJet team!
Layover
Rude customer service. Had a 24 hour layover in Calgary where I waited for my luggage at baggage claim for 2 hours, only for the employee to tell me both of my suitcases are being kept by staff and put on my flight tomorrow. I didn't have basic toiletries or a change of clothes. No email detailing this policy was provided. Awful experience, and would not recommend using these airlines.
On hold for an hour etc
On hold for an hour today. No credit for the unused return portion of a missed international flight, no policing of carry on once onboard. I see people taking up two spaces overhead all the time when one is supposed to go under the seat. Luggage tags no longer provided since May at Fort Myers airport, no refunds even though WestJet is the one who cancelled the flight. Numerous cancellations of one way flights particularly in the last month even though the flight is still running. WestJet is on its way to becoming obsolete very quickly. You treat customers badly you loose business permanently.
Absolute, Total scam
Absolute Total scam. I have a valid temporary drivers licence that is valid for travel and although they accepted it previously, my flight today was cancelled on their behalf without reimbursement.
Terrible unprofessional negligent behavior
Terrible unprofessional behavior
We traveled with pet carrier into Canada - no issues. On the way back, we checked in, waited in line for an hour.
Again, no issue.
When boarding the plane, this young extremely arrogant young girl told us the carrier is not to their standards. Kicked us from the flight, escorted us by security. Refused to rebook the ticket.
I have traveled all over the world with this carrier, no issues.
After two hours trying to get luggage, waited an hour to speak to manager they rebooked us for next day.
This airline loves to make people miserable - it’s a monopoly airline, they truly don’t care.
Very sad 😔 unfortunately.
I purchased my ticket through a 3rd…
I purchased my ticket through a 3rd party. Somehow there were some changes on one of my flights.Which caused an issue when I tried to check in the day before my flight. So, when I bought my ticket through cheap o air it says I'm flying with West Jet, but its not the case I'm actually flying with Delta. So, long story short trying to precheck through Delta, but Delta said I need to contact westjet because they can't find my connecting flight. but before talking to Delta I was able to enter information up to checking baggage in fact Delta already charge me for that baggage but then when I complete check in that’s when it stop me. I talked to customer service of Delta, she told me to call Westjet instructed me what to say to Westjet. I talked to Westjet CR he start bashing Delta saying he doesn't know why Delta is saying all these when he himself is able to see my flight and there was no problem. Me on the otherline is so frustrated, I don't care whose to blame just fix it so I can go home. Then, he start to being short with me, I told him look, I fly with Delta, they’re saying they can’t make the changes so it's up to you guys to add my ticket to my flight. Then, he said stop yelling at me this is a recorded conversation I am going to submit it. Then, I got so frustrated we got into it… I am a the customer I just need for someone to get my flight corrected and get it right so I can move on but no one will take the responsibility/accountability to do that but all three of them are pointing fingers but no one will fix it! With my experience today, don't buy ticket from a 3rd party…And do not fly Westjet they are very hard to reach and your not really flying with them, you fly Delta .I was told that WestJet and Delta is working with each other but why is it that Delta CSR can't see WestJet screen and fix flight especially when a flight is involving Delta? I am a paying customer my responsibility is to pay your service not doing doing the job for them to get my flight corrected.
Complaint Regarding Missed Flight because of Poor Customer Service
Dear WestJet Team,
My name is Rita , and I recently traveled with WestJet on a round-trip from Calgary to Michigan. Our departure from Calgary on July 2, 2025, went smoothly—we were treated well and had no complaints.
However, the return leg on July 8, 2025, from Michigan to Calgary (scheduled at 4:15 PM) turned into a complete disaster due to WestJet’s failure in basic customer service.
We arrived at the airport at 2:00 PM, well ahead of time. To our shock, there was no one at the WestJet kiosk—no agents, no signage, nothing. We waited, thinking someone would arrive shortly. But by 3:00 PM, we started panicking. We asked around and approached airport staff and TSA, but no one could help.
We tried calling for assistance, but the only number we could find led to an automated system. Eventually, a Delta Airlines supervisor gave us another number, and after several attempts, we reached someone named Mike, who said he was with a WestJet call center in Calgary.
We explained the situation clearly—that no WestJet staff were present, and we were unable to check in. Mike put us on hold multiple times, saying he was talking to a supervisor. Despite the urgency, he offered no actionable help. After about 30 minutes, he simply told us, “We can’t help you. You’ll have to book a new flight.”
We were shocked. We had travel insurance, we were on time, and yet no one from WestJet was available to check us in, assist us, or even answer a phone properly. Mike was unhelpful, unprofessional, and lacked the knowledge to resolve the issue.
Due to this complete breakdown in service, I was forced to book a new flight with United Airlines for $1,500, in addition to paying for a hotel and a car rental. I was traveling with my husband and our 23-month-old daughter, whose first trip turned into a nightmare. We spent over seven hours at the airport, tired, anxious, and completely abandoned by your airline.
To make matters worse, there was no follow-up from WestJet. No call, no email, no inquiry about our missed flight—even though we reported the incident.
This experience was not only unacceptable, but also deeply upsetting. I feel it’s important to share this publicly so others are aware of what could happen when flying with WestJet. We will never fly WestJet again, and I will make sure to share this experience across social media and relevant platforms.
Please note: this message is not intended to defame WestJet, but rather to raise awareness so others can be better prepared for situations like this.
I expect a formal response and resolution for this extremely disappointing and costly experience.
Sincerely,
Rita

I would have given a -5 stars if I…
I would have given a -5 stars if I could. We booked weeks ago and were super excited for your family vacation. We were flying from Toronto to Vancouver on July 9, 2025. When time came to check in, 2 white staff (one male and one female) both walked past our asian family to help other white individuals with the check in kiosk. We finally make the long trek to gate B4 and were told the pilot is running late because air traffic control could not find a place for the pilot to park his plane. When we got to the gate, the lady scanning our ticket stopped my husband for having a 3rd bag, which was a cpap machine. She made him check in his larger carry on and in that whole process, my husband lost his favorite visor. When we got to our seat, we learned our seat do not recline. We were not made aware of this when booking our trip weeks ago. We sat on the runway for over an hour with no information, no attendant, no air. Everyone was sweating in the cabin. This was our first flight with WestJet and it was the worst travel experience ever in my 47 years of flying!!! There was one Latina flight attendant on our flight who was kind and patient with us. All the other white staff walked right past us. I believe the lady at the front desk just wanted to make things difficult for us. She did not listen, and counted my husband's durable medical equipment as another carryon item and made him check in an item. She was brash, lacked commpassion, and clearly racist as she used our family as an example, warning others they can only carryon 2 items. These microaggressions were evident from the moment we walked up to the ticketing counter to when we stepped off the plane. Upon arriving to our destination, I googled WestJet reviews, something we should have done before booking. A 1.5 star leaves room for improvement. But if you don't train your staff against discrimination, you will continue to fail in the customer satisfaction arena. Perhaps customer satisfaction is not your goal. I do not know. We will think twice about going anywhere with WestJet again. For a country that claims to be open to immigrants and diversity, WestJet certainly failed in this area.
Constant delays
Constant delays. Horrendous customer service. They never have enough staff. Took 45 minutes before they could open the doors to get off the plane always excuse after excuse for being late. I keep hoping they would get better but they just seem to be getting worse. Need better management
Do not fly westjet if you have check in…
Do not fly westjet if you have check in bags, they delayed my bag for more than three days and did not even bather to give me an update about my bag.
