Overcrowded, claustrophobic, noisy, slow network. The few call booths are all busy, while the vast majority of the offices are empty and locked. Ventilation sucks, AC is running at a bare minimum.

240 Richmond Street West location in…

240 Richmond Street West location in Toronto is appallingly mismanaged.

The good: everyone with a dog is friendly. Unfortunately there aren't very many of these tenants. The location is also conveniently near Osgoode station.

The bad:
Nasty community manager. She was never around and the few times she was, would send out building wide announcements about how loud our team was at lunch when we used the kitchen. Only cares about getting positive survey responses. Other staff were never able to problem solve anything. Paper towels were constantly out in the washrooms and the coffee was terrible - and I am not above drinking regular Folgers or Maxwell House. We could never get our WiFi to work properly either and have never had any issues at our current office at Industrious or test day at Workhaus.

Very high turnover on the few competent building staff and cleaners. One of the ones I liked told me she was regularly sent around to check if tenants booked meeting rooms like a police officer. Another cleaner told me she didn't feel like she was allowed to eat in the kitchen.

They have no idea how to organize the space effectively. Low fee hot deskers used common areas throughout the entire building. Taking meetings in kitchens constantly and kitchens for office tenants weren't usable. Meeting rooms and phone booths were constantly being used so on days people came in it was difficult to find rooms.

Terrible value for money. With taxes we paid $4000 a month for a tiny tiny office that could barely fit 4 of us. We found a private office at Industrious triple the space for not very much more per month. 7 hours of free meeting credits per month for 4 people. A ridiculous fee for every 30 minutes after that. If you go over your allotment you will be surprised with a hefty addition to your bill. We currently her 30 hours a month with our lease for no additional cost.

We found the other tenants to be very unfriendly too. And rude. Feet up on upholstered couches, bare feet, calls to sound important while wandering halls, etc. It's the furthest thing from a professional work environment. No one attended the constant events they held either.

Laying down rugs and upholstery would help a ton with noise pollution.

ASK for a free test week before you commit to anything. Other much better managed co-working companies are taking over their leases.

Substandard leadership leads to toxic environment for own staff and tenants alike with substandard quality being the accepted norm

First of all, they treat members of staff very poorly by paying them a terrible wage and contributing absolutely nothing to boosting employee morale. Co-working spaces should pull people in with nice incentives and a pleasant working environment, not shove them out the door. I feel the upper echelons of management are primarily responsible for this with an extra emphasis on the C-level leadership team.

Secondly, they are absolutely not proactive with regards to servicing maintenance requests. Very substandard in terms of manner of conduct. This point I do believe should be directed at the on-site employees.

Lastly, the organization does not listen to complaints pertinent to inappropriate behavior exhibited by working professionals who make use of WeWork’s facilities. There have been numerous complaints that were ignored or swept under the rug, in some cases it escalated to such an extent that the local police authorities had to get involved on multiple occasions. This is absolutely inexcusable and must be addressed sooner rather than later.

I want to round this off by saying that the good eggs who were working at WeWork have decided to leave the company as they have been let down by poor leadership and implementation of key business practices by the upper echelons of management. The result is that substandard employees will henceforth continue to deliver substandard work and the situation will only get worse before it gets better.

All companies and remote working professionals should consider all other options (numerous times) first before settling on WeWork as their last resort. This is what WeWork unfortunately is, a last resort in case all else fails.

Absolutely terrible customer service…

Absolutely terrible customer service who is just disconnecting call 3x because they are incompetent answering any client questions. They are all half asleep without clearly having any training to be able to assist companies who are spending thousands for the office space. Awful

I used to like it

I used to really like WeWork and found some amazing things about it when I first tried it out here in Hamburg. The modern decor and good coffee created a nice environment for working. However, after using it for several months, I have become quite disappointed. While my employer paid 50 euros per visit for me to use it, which is fairly expensive, I ultimately found it was simply too noisy to concentrate properly.

Even in the common areas, people were often loudly making phone calls despite there being designated phone booths. The ambient noise levels were akin to those in a busy library, which made focusing difficult. I prefer a quieter setting to do my best work.

Of course, for those who don't mind background noise, the WeWork locations do provide some nice amenities. But for me personally, I get distracted very easily by noises around me. Given how much was paid for the space, I suppose I had higher expectations that it would be calmer. In the future, I would likely opt to work from a traditional library or more secluded café.

Avoid WeWork

My team and I recently had the unfortunate experience of renting an office space from WeWork in Spinningfields. To say that our time that it was dreadful would be an understatement. Allow me to share the numerous issues we encountered, which left us disappointed and frustrated.
First and foremost, the noise levels in the office were simply unbearable. The partition walls, made entirely of glass, provided zero soundproofing. As a result, we were constantly subjected to disruptive conversations, phone calls, and even arguments from neighboring offices. It felt like working in a fishbowl, with no privacy or tranquility whatsoever. And if that wasn't enough, the constant sound of heels clattering on the hardwood floor added to the cacophony, making it nearly impossible to concentrate on our work.
Moreover, the internet service was nothing short of abysmal. We relied heavily on a stable and fast internet connection for our day-to-day operations and client meetings. However, the connection was plagued with inconsistency, and we were frequently kicked off during crucial video conferences, leading to embarrassing and unprofessional situations. It's unacceptable for a supposedly professional workspace provider like WeWork to offer such subpar internet connectivity.
To make matters worse, the most distressing aspect of our experience at WeWork in Spinningfields was the alleged lack of security measures and the reported incidents of sexual harassment within the building. I cannot emphasize enough how disgusted and disturbed we were to hear about our staff members being subjected to such despicable behavior. This not only created a hostile work environment but also demonstrated a complete disregard for the safety and well-being of the tenants.
Given the multitude of problems we encountered, I cannot recommend WeWork in Spinningfields to anyone seeking a productive and professional workspace. The noise levels, the unreliable internet, and the distressing incidents of sexual harassment created an environment that was not only unproductive but also harmful to our team's well-being. We expected better from a reputable company like WeWork, but unfortunately, our experience fell far below the standards we had hoped for.
If you value peace and quiet, a stable internet connection and a safe working environment, I strongly advise you to consider alternative office space providers in the area. WeWork in Spinningfields is simply not worth the hassle, frustration, and potential risks it presents.

My experience at WeWork Spinningfields…

My experience at WeWork Spinningfields was highly disappointing. The glass walls between offices caused excessive noise, making concentration impossible. The internet service was unreliable and slow, hindering productivity. Additionally, the security staff in the Lobby exhibited unprofessional behaviour towards one of my female employees, creating an uncomfortable environment. Moreover, the management was unresponsive to concerns and failed to address the issues adequately.
Overall, my time at WeWork Spinningfields was marred by noise issues, unreliable internet, and the distressing behaviour of the security staff. For those seeking a conducive and professional workspace, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere. WeWork Spinningfields fell short of expectations in multiple aspects, leaving me thoroughly disappointed and regretful for choosing this location.

£30 for 1 day with poor internet…

£30 for 1 day with poor internet connection, and loud place.
At 4PM the WeWork 'entertainment team turned the music so loud that everyone who was here to work had to leave, and the team took the chairs left to play poker.
Not the place to go to work, but the beer is also bad, so not either the place to party.
Simply disappointed as I couldn't do the only thing they advertise, be quiet, and do some work with a good internet connection.

240 Richmond St W (Toronto ON)

This is a review for the 240 Richmond Street West location.

If you want a private office, do not rent here. They only care about individual seats they can sell since most of the building is empty and they haven't had any luck filling the individual offices. You can expect dirty looks if you use common kitchen areas to eat lunch and socialize. There are always hot deskers taking calls.

The meeting rooms are non functional and you get nickel and dimed with a low quota of meeting credits even paying 3-6K a month.

The noise pollution is awful. No carpets or upholstery to absorb noise. No drywall either. Unfriendly staff and tenants.

Massively over expesive, poorly structured, largely unviable work place, nice amenities

Negatives: Some locations are very poorly laid out and managed even worse. The shepherds bush location in london is particularly bad. They have a ping pong table in a health and safety contradictive location resulting in people constantly being hit with fast plastic balls and or tripping on them whilst trying to work. The noise is horrendous, you literally cannot work there. The front of desk staff simply tell you to work in the tiny quiet area if the noise bothers you, which is not only unviable when conducting meetings and discussing things with colleagues, far too small but also the contract states, as an all access member you can work where you like... but the only place that is even near to suitable for working is the small quiet area. The offices will eat your pathetic 5 monthly credits in 1 day if you need to use the meeting rooms, then the cost of more credits is more than it costs you as a tenent for the week.

On the whole it's -> WILDLY <- over expensive for what you get, very difficult to work and often very poor front of house staff. The shepherds bush office needs to be restructured, restaffed and started again.

Positives: nice mini events, decent commodities, nice coffee/beer station and kitchen utilities, nice gaming stations (pool, table tennis, etc... not all locations have this)

It's a complete SCAM

I regret joining this company. Once you register, they freeze your account and ask you to deposit more. This way , I deposited more than 15 grand. They will tell you, you can't activate your money unless you deposit additional. Please, do not invest. This is a scam. My account is currently disabled for no reason. I am told to pay R2000 to activate it but I refused this time. DO NOT REGISTER. I wish someone has reviewed them on this platform so that I would not register. I will regret this for the rest of my life! From South Africa

Horrible experience at WeWork CyberCity Gurgaon center which is apparently their biggest center and I travelled quite a distance to get here in hopes to get lesser distraction and get my work done - instead they refused to give me a dedicated workspace and instead offered me a community table with a lot of noise pollution! Pathetic and a complete waste of money!

WeDoNotWork

This is not WeWork, this is WeDoNotWorkPiecefully. This is really not a good working environment. Most of the co-working spaces and the all access have the most disruptive tennis tables and pool tables and beer taps. They actually hardly have any good working spaces. Many offices have the worst possible lighting and you will get a headache towards the middle of the day. The ones that are slightly good and well designed have been ruined by the over use or the games in the middle of the workspace. You are almost always guranteed to get a headache somehow or another. Working in a train station is less disruptive.

why let me book a desk on a day you are shut?

I am in Germany, there is a holiday on the 6th Jan. I need to work with people in the UK. I checked opening times, I used the app and I booked a desk in a Munich location. I rock up on the 6th … building shut. I cannot get in as it is closed. Now you may say .. well it is a holiday. I‘d be fine with that if the app blocked me from booking a desk, or as a regular attendee in Munich sent me an email to say it was shut. But really? This is a global company built for people who work collaboratively across the globe …

I wasted my time, the time of the people with whom I was supposed to have meetings and I wasted money getting there. I was not alone. As I was leaving in frustration another WeWorker turned up .. also denied entry to a building he had booked a desk in,.

Bad customer service, overcharged, and inconsistent policies indicating discrimination

I had purchased the WeWork All Access membership in London. It's quite expensive. A WeWork building manager in BishopsGate told me that they allow guests in after 5pm, free of charge, now and again such as once a week etc. if you have membership, and then emailed me saying that I couldn't do the same and copied their entire building into it saying I'm only allowed guests including in
the evening if I book a meeting room which is a paid for service. I pointed out that they and their staff members stated that it wasn't a problem after hours and that paying for a meeting room was not necessary for other WeWork members. I pointed out in a corresponding email that it's discrimination if they allow members to have guests free of charge but I can't. I had no further response from them. I am not continuing my membership or joining up again. It took me several days for getting something which was overcharged to me and it wasn't communicated to me before charging either, I had to see them a few times to get it sorted - that isn't good enough. It led me to wonder if they were doing it on purpose out of spite. Lack of professionalism. I don't find many older members of staff working there, I think it would help for them to be more inclusive, I found it quite a young crowd in terms of staff members. No wonder WeWork still isn't making money with the way they treat their customers. I wonder if they'll ever make that correlation.
