A JOKE
If I could give Whirlpool zero stars, I would. I received a dryer and on the first day it already stopped working after about 10 minutes. I tried using it two more times, and each time it shut down again after 10–15 minutes (I was using Bulky and Heavy Duty modes).
I reviewed the return policy, which states that the product is returnable as long as it’s within the initial wash. However, when I spoke with a service coordinator, I was told that once the unit is installed, it is non-returnable.
On top of that, the online chat service never works, and calling customer service means being put on hold for at least an hour. I scheduled a service repair online and saw Saturday availability, but later received a call saying they don’t service on Saturdays. When I called again on the day the repair was supposedly scheduled, they put me on a 2 hours hold and had no record of the appointment at all.
Whirlpool has been an absolute disaster. I spent $600 on a broken machine and bunch of troubles.
Early Life Failure - NO HELP from Whirlpool.
From the beginning my Whirlpool refrigerator would not register that the water filter was in place. 2 calls to get a new water filter, another call to get a service call scheduled. A text was sent to me after Septemberly (agent) scheduled my service call expeditiously since this was an early life failure of my new refrigerator. Waited 4 hours for service person - at the end of the 4 hour wait, I got a call from Goodman Appliances saying they would not be able to see me until 15 days later. Hours wasted looking for how to get service, on hold to customer service, removing and replacing the water filter, again on hold to customer service and waiting for a service call that Whirlpool Customer Experience Center scheduled and then sent confirmation to me in an SMS text, where the service person had not actually been scheduled. AVOID buying from Whirlpool.com. You are
on your own if you need service. BY THE WAY: this same Customer Service Experience is also servicing: JENN-AIR, KitchenAid, Amana, Maytag, Gladiator, and Whirlpool. AVOID THEM ALL!!
The Whirlpool company is terrible
The Whirlpool company is terrible. They are unprofessional and don't do their job. More than 20 days ago, I reported that my new refrigerator was broken, and they told me it might be replaced in four weeks. They scheduled an inspector to examine the appliance, but the inspector missed the appointment. The Whirlpool team is extremely irresponsible and doesn't fulfill its obligations.
Whirlpool warranty failure. UPDATED 3.5 months later
EDIT - UPDATE.
I wrote this review in January. In late April, Whirlpool eventually contacted me and sent me a replacement part. I appreciate them following through on their warranty. I am changing my review from one star to 3 stars.
Original review:
I am extremely disappointed with Whirlpool’s customer service.
My Whirlpool refrigerator is still under the manufacturer’s one-year warranty. A crisper drawer broke and should have been a simple warranty replacement. Instead, I spent over five cumulative hours on hold across multiple days.
I was repeatedly transferred between Warranty, Parts, and even the Water Filter Department. Whirlpool Warranty transferred me to Parts, and Parts attempted to charge me over $200 for a warranty-covered part. The Parts Department phone system repeatedly failed to accept menu inputs, and multiple calls were disconnected after long holds.
When I escalated in writing and provided call logs and warranty proof, Whirlpool Parts responded with a generic message stating they are “out of warranty” and told me to call Warranty — despite Warranty being the source of the transfers.
This experience reflects a broken internal process and a failure to honor a basic warranty obligation. I would not recommend Whirlpool based on this experience.
I am pretty disgusted with my washer I…
I am pretty disgusted with my washer I purchased about a year ago. It has broken down twice in less than six months, with the exact same issue. They put plastic teeth on the agitator and logic dictates that you don't make plastic teeth for an agitator or any moving part. Customer service is useless and I would NEVER recommend this product to anyone.
Zero stars
Zero stars! These appliances are trash and customer service gives zero shits. 30 day old fridge leaking everywhere.. everyday. Ruining my floors and baseboards. GARBAGE! Stay away from whirlpool.
Worst company i have ever dealt with
Washing machine failed at 9 months
Washing machine failed at 9 months. Customer service was terrible. Had to resort to contacting them via social media but they just parroted the same info from customer service. They refused to cover the breakdown under warranty claiming it was not a warranty covered failure. But the subcontractor who provided them just enough info to invalidate my warranty offered to fix it at the same cost it would be for me to purchase a new machine. Stay far away from any WP products. Terrible. Just terrible.
Worst customer service possible
Worst customer service possible. Waited on line for over an hour to schedule a service call. When they answered they told me I had two options. Both were an up sale on a warranty. I pushed back and said I just wanted to schedule a service call. They then 'connected' me to another numbers. Waited again for an hour for someone to answer. Unbelievable.
Whirlpool does not stand by their products
Don't buy Whirlpool - They don't stand by their merchandise. We purchased it in October 2023 Model number WTW4955HW. Thankfully I also purchased an extended warranty for 9.00 per month through Dan Marc Appliance in mid-2025. Since then, we have/are in the process of repairing the washer for the 3rd time in three months.
• 11/4/25 – requested service
• 11/17/25 - new control board installed
• 1/11/26 – requested service
• 1/13/26 - new control board ordered (expected installation based on November timeline would be the end of next week)
• 1/22/26 new control board replaced
• 1/29/26 – no power to the washer again and requesting service tech
I have been in touch with Whirlpool for the 3 past weeks and they continue to send me back to the company I took the extended warranty through. Keeping in mind the washer isn't 2 1/2 years old yet. It's absolute garbage.
I would never recommend whirlpool
I would never recommend whirlpool . I have back problems and my son bought me a washer and it never worked since the first day it was delivered. I’m so upset that I have to pay for someone to wash my clothes for months and every week a tech comes to fix it and it has been months and is a waste of time .horrible horrible I would never buy a whirlpool again and told all my friends all about whirlpool
De not buy Whirlpool
De not buy Whirlpool. Their appliance services are horrendous. Last month , they took over a month to repair our dishwasher. They missed our appointment today. We have been without a frig for over a week at our vacation home. Will see to it that my large family and 5000 Facebook friends
Know that whirlpool sucks. Buy another product. They hide from the customer.
.
What a nightmare - lousy products and services
What a nightmare! My brand new Whirlpool refrigerator is useless. Whenever I shut the fridge door, the freezer door pops open, and everything inside melts because it unseals itself.
A service rep has been out 4 times and has told me the fridge is defective; however, at no time did they tell me that the service rep was supposed to call the Whirlpool online tech to troubleshoot the problem and facilitate a return.
Five months later, I'm still stuck with a defective refrigerator.
Poor customer service.
45 minutes to an hour on hold.
Bad communication.
Mediocre service.
If I had known Whirlpool had gone to s***, I definitely would not have purchased from them.
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. I was hung up on after an hour and a half wait. They make their warranty hard to parse and offer no flexibility, even after the awful experience with their support.
No user manuals with washer/dryer
We just got a new Whirlpool washer this week. So far nothing has broken, but from the reviews we've read, we are holding our breath. Our complaint is that they are more complex electronically than our previous machines (fair enough) but lacked any useful user manuals......whether out of the box or on their website. We our "learning by doing" but a few sheets of paper with photos, diagrams and explanations would have been most welcomed.
Purchased a washer and dryer
Purchased a washer and dryer, less than 6 months old. Agitator dislodged during a cycle. Three weeks later, not repaired. I emailed the CEO for assistance because their repair provider was lacking in their efforts to repair. I appreciate the CEO of Whirlpool with addressing the email, but nothing happened after that. I have made the decision to sell the appliances and take my loss to get whirlpool out of my home.
Loved the appliance but not the customer service or the Executive customer service person that was assigned. Rude and condescending.
Kitchenaid range is a lemon
I purchased a Kitchenaid oven about a Year and a half ago. I had service out about 8 times from Abt (another poor review later). They didn’t care at all. I had to buy the extended warranty and hope the manuafacturer (Whirlpool) would fix it. I was wrong. I’ve had them out twice now. The problem I have is my over overheats. Last week I set it for 400 degrees and it was at 550 a half hour later. The problem dose not happen all the time. It is intermittent. They think I’m calling for service because I have nothing better to do. Whirlpool is useless to me. I will never buy one of their products again. Don’t let yourself fall into the “KitchenAid is a good brand” trap. It’s all garbage
The service process is appalling
The service process is appalling. Once they make a decision it takes 7-10 business days for one department to speak to another. A service request was raised 1 month ago, I have had to push and ask for escalation and received no response. Until they finally sent out someone to review the issue, he told me they had closed down over the Christmas break which is why there was a delay. It was 1 week ago that he was here, he emailed them straight away that the machine had destructed itself and I would need a replacement. They emailed me to confirm a replacement, then the next day advised I would receive a store credit which was on Monday. To replace the machine is going to cost an extra $250 from what I originally paid and the cost of the laundromat washing is $120 to date. Do not buy this brand, if something goes wrong their service processing is enough to put anyone off. They do not care about the customer at all.
We purchased two Whirlpool commercial…
We purchased two Whirlpool commercial top-load washers, and unfortunately our experience has been very disappointing. In less than a year of use, the drain pump failed on one of the machines.
Trying to get warranty support was extremely frustrating. It took three days just to reach someone who could actually help. On one occasion, I was on hold for over 49 minutes, transferred twice, and then told I needed to call a completely different phone number. The lack of clear direction and long hold times made a stressful situation worse.
When I finally reached the correct department, I was told that only the part is covered under warranty—not labor—and that it would take 7–10 business days to ship the replacement part, assuming it isn’t backordered. For a commercial machine that is less than a year old, this level of downtime and limited warranty coverage is unacceptable.
Between the early equipment failure and the poor customer service experience, I would not recommend Whirlpool commercial washers to others who rely on their machines for daily use.
Good machines, but drying performance could be better
We have Whirlpool appliances in our home and overall they’ve been okay, but there are definitely some frustrations. The biggest issue has been the dryer — on the regular dry setting it often doesn’t fully dry clothes, and we end up having to run extra time or use a higher setting to get things properly dry.
The washer itself has been fine and the controls are easy to use, but the drying performance has been disappointing compared to what I expected.
It’s not a terrible brand, but it hasn’t been a standout experience either. I think there’s room for improvement, especially in how their dryers handle normal loads.
