We ordered a custom wig for my elderly client, who lives with alopecia, specifically for her son’s wedding, a time-sensitive, emotional, and important event. We provided detailed written instructions and photos, requesting:
• A sandy, dimensional blonde (instead we received a harsh platinum blonde that was completely wrong)
• A natural-looking parting, just like an example she advertised (but got a dense, heavy cap with no parting at all)
• A soft, light fringe (instead received a thick, blunt, heavy fringe with no shape)
Despite these clear specifications, the final product didn’t even remotely resemble what was ordered. We also made clear the strict deadline for delivery before the wedding.
She missed that deadline entirely. My client was forced to attend her son’s wedding without a wig at all, left humiliated and stressed on what should have been one of the happiest days of her life.
When challenged, the seller refused any refund and repeatedly argued with my client while she was abroad trying to enjoy the wedding. She also kept referring to the Consumer Rights Act in her defence, even though, in our view, that argument is void here, since she mis-sold the product, failed to meet the agreed deadline, did not deliver any finished or usable item, and provided something entirely different from the agreed specifications.
We have full evidence of all communications, images, and instructions shared in advance to prove this.
When we pushed further for a refund, she deactivated her account, cutting off all contact and leaving my vulnerable client out of pocket.
In my opinion, this behaviour is completely unprofessional and unethical. It felt like a scam, and she took money from an elderly, vulnerable woman without providing what was promised.
Avoid at all costs. Based on our experience, you risk losing your money and being left with nothing.
