A big no for tutors if you have self-respect

They 100% keep using your info even if you no longer want to use the platform.

I opened up an account as a tutor, decided not to use it because I don't like many things, and there's no way of erasing my profile:
- On the site you literally don't have an option to delete your account.
- On the app, you can find a button for it, but it doesn't work, it just logs you out.
- I talked to someone from the team (not through the help email, they don't answer that one. You have to wait for them to want to pressure you into working more through Whatsapp, which happens pretty often) and asked them directly to delete the profile.
My listing as of now is still up.

As an encore: There are stats on my profile which are made up by them, and there are AI generated summaries of other tutor's lessons on their profile, which I'm guessing is automatic and mandatory. You can't set your available hours anywhere; if you go to my still existing profile, you could ask for a free demo class (you can't opt out from this either) on a Sunday evening, and who knows who you'll get as a teacher because it won't be me.

You can probably make some money with them, but is it worth stooping so low as an independent professional?

Good for Amateur Online Tutors

As an amateur in online tutor, this platform is of great help. Everything is understandable and easy to comprehend. It is also very inclusive to both tutors and students. I'm glad to have my first student who continued their enrollment with me. Thanks so much! Can't wait for my commission hehe.

Update! (09-12-25) Just got my first pay last Wednesday, Sept 10. It was actually higher than the amount that I was anticipating. Since I started mid-August and just had 1 student, it is not that big yet. But I cannot wait for the next month as I now have 4 students, yey! To more students and lessons with Wiingy, Manifesting 🙏💖✨ Good luck and God bless to all aspiring tutors out there🤗

It's great

It's great. She understood exactly what was concerned and fixed it quickly. Because of these issues, I was not getting demo requests, so thanks again.

I applied as a Guitar tutor for Wiingy

I applied as a Guitar tutor for Wiingy. I have been tutoring for 9 years now, and understand what it takes to be a successful tutor. Given my consistent 5 star reviews on Tutorful, and my high client retention rate I am disappointed in the service provided by Wiingy. I would go as far to deem them as unprofessional at times, and lacking in compassion/ empathy as a service toward tutors.

It started fairly shaky. I was receiving demo requests regularly, and managed to get 3 demo lessons in total. They did not advise me first there is a protocol where they run in how the platform works. I accepted a demo request during the day for the following morning, and then was sent an invitation to do the protocol whilst I was asleep (10.30pm the previous night). 2 hours before the lesson was due to start (8.30am), they cancelled. It was the first thing I was going to do when I had woken up. They then said that 'because they received no response. Guys.. Take the fact we are on different time zones into account here. So I lost a demo as a result of this incompetence.

The next demo I got taken away I was not advised of the protocol that they check in around 15 mins before lesson. As I was expecting to just sign on, they removed the demo with 5 mins to spare. Seeing this incensed me, because I am always on time. Again, 'we did not receive a response from you'. Often the text messages when I didn't respond instantly (as quickly as 2-3 mins) would follow up with childish messages such as '?????'.

The three demos I received went well to my ability. And their feedback proves it as well. They wouldn't tell me why the first one in America, didn't decide to carry on (even though she said he liked me, and wanted to carry on), the second one decided not to follow up for whatever reason (when they said in the lesson that they would), and the third one left half way through a lesson because he wasn't happy with the service that the lesson was being introduced rather than linking to the tutor straight away (also he was not happy that I had an electric guitar, rather than a classical even though I could play the piece asked for). Given my situations, and slight bit of bad luck, had this had persevered we would have had a successful relationship.

After, I constantly tried to text them to ask why I wasn't receiving demo requests, but they chose not to respond to me. I text around 7 of their team, and was met with the same attitude each time. They eventually after about a week of trying, one of them finally responded and said file 'a help ticket' asking why I wasn't receiving anymore demo requests. They took around 3/4 days, and finally got back to me saying 'my demo to client conversion rate was low so they are going to give demo priorities to other tutors. I had 3 demos in total.

The business model that you have here in all honesty isn't a bad idea. Your patience, and lacking of service to not only clients but tutors as well is quite poor. You are missing truly talented tutors for allowing their services to shine to a global audience which is what this is about.

There is too much panic from their end, lack of patience, and understanding as to why some demos did not follow up with on board clients which isn't anyone's fault. I am disappointed in your service, as you did not give me a fair shot. I would have brought you more business had I been given more than just 3 demo requests to try. Given I am one of the top tutors on tutorful, and have taught in several countries online before, as well as in schools - This was not a fair reflection, and I would say to potential tutors to be aware of this before applying. It seems they care only about money/ conversion rates, which is a terrible way to run a tutoring business. It is okay though, formats will move away from this the more we move from survival to safety territory aligned with our evolution.

Solid Company - Tutor perspective

I work for Wiingy regularly, and they are generally quick to support me, offer plenty of student opportunities, and have a system that works. I get paid on time and through an easy system.

I have a few small critiques. For one, there is no cancellation fee, so if a student doesn't show up or cancels last minute, I don't get paid. This happens often. The trial lessons are a good feature, but I find students rarely sign on, despite a successful lesson, but that isn't necessarily Wiingy's fault. And finally, the app is a bit glitchy, but overall works.

So there is room for improvement, but it is not a scam like some have claimed.

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. Thinks company is a scam, both for the tutor and the student. Wiingy is currently using my information, including my likeness and biography on their platform. I have asked that this company cease and desist. I have also filed a complaint with BBB, to which they have not responded. That alone should tell you something. Next I will be filing a report with the Attorney General of California.

Singing Tutor Sofia Giraldo Juliao, wiingy.com

I found wiingy.com very useful in finding my vocal tutor, Sofia Giraldo Juliao.
I had the pleasure to study singing with Sofia and found the lessons with her very stimulating, informative and helpful for opening my voice. The set of different exercises for breathing control, singing techniques and methodology and articulation along with the musical theory created the perfect base for my progress in singing. I am extremely grateful to Sofia for every single lesson which was also both relaxing and recharging! All the lesson were done punctually and accurately and I am very happy for sticking to her teaching plan and professional suggestions. In my current dynamic life I was also pleased to observe that Sofia was flexible enough to adjust the lessons around my convenient time. So, from all aspects of our work, I can highly recommend Sofia as a reliable tutor in your singing journey.

Extremely poor issue (ticket) resolution

Excellent onboarding and demo allocation and all that. But extremely poor ticket/issue resolution afterwards. Poor instructions/tutor training for using the interface. Need to work upon these. Irresponsible staff.

No student, no support

It has been around three months since I subscribed as a tutor.
First, I received a WhatsApp call from some Indian guys claiming to be from Wiingy. They said they wanted to check if I was suitable for the position. Later, I realized it was a scam that seemed to target tutors on this platform.
Second, after two months, I only received reminders to complete my profile—no students or sessions ever came through. When I contacted support, they told me they would follow up soon.
It has now been about a month since I requested to close my account, and I still haven't received any response.

If you're considering signing up as a tutor or a student, be aware: there is no real support!

Wiingy 2 scammy

They got me to purchase all the equipment gave me some slow starting trail lessons by slow starting I mean it was like week between them after my first 2 trails didn't go through. every student I had seemed to be using the free trials as much as possible to gain free lessons and none of them signed on for reasons unknown. the 45 minute trial is a joke enough to begin with it. just another very badly run organisation for so many different reasons it would take me all day to go through them. and now they've just ghosted me after 3 trials after I invested both time and money. avoid at all costs for both teaching and learning.
