Wippy enabled a massive fraud...avoid at all costs
Wippy enabled a massive fraud by accepting and issuing a secured loan to a person not on the title of the vehicle.
This constitutes a severe failure of due diligence. When the loan defaulted, they illegally seized my legally-owned vehicle using deceptive tactics (claiming they had a "warrant"). The did not use a baliff, a baliffs assistant or an employee and did not provide any identification. The seized the vehicle at 0130 in the morning.
This company's negligence, oppressive seizure, and lack of providing any documentation or notification to the owner of the vehicle forced me to file a Superior Court of Justice lawsuit.
They refused to accept service by email, only accept service to a fedex office and their negotiation method is pay us or we sell your car.
Wippy's practices demonstrate a clear disregard for the law (Repair and Storage Liens Act) and extreme risk exposure for all vehicle owners. AVOID at all costs.
I am hopeful that the filed lawsuit, the complaint to OMVI, the complaint to CBC news investigative team, and the complaint to the ministry of public and service delivery will shine a light on their blatant disregard for the law and their lack of process to verify loans prior to granting them.
