Wippy enabled a massive fraud...avoid at all costs

Wippy enabled a massive fraud by accepting and issuing a secured loan to a person not on the title of the vehicle.

This constitutes a severe failure of due diligence. When the loan defaulted, they illegally seized my legally-owned vehicle using deceptive tactics (claiming they had a "warrant"). The did not use a baliff, a baliffs assistant or an employee and did not provide any identification. The seized the vehicle at 0130 in the morning.

This company's negligence, oppressive seizure, and lack of providing any documentation or notification to the owner of the vehicle forced me to file a Superior Court of Justice lawsuit.
They refused to accept service by email, only accept service to a fedex office and their negotiation method is pay us or we sell your car.

Wippy's practices demonstrate a clear disregard for the law (Repair and Storage Liens Act) and extreme risk exposure for all vehicle owners. AVOID at all costs.

I am hopeful that the filed lawsuit, the complaint to OMVI, the complaint to CBC news investigative team, and the complaint to the ministry of public and service delivery will shine a light on their blatant disregard for the law and their lack of process to verify loans prior to granting them.

BORROWER BEWARE: DISCRIMINATORY AND FRAUDULENT PRACTICES

My Experience with Wippy's Financing
Took out vehicle repair financing in February 2023 ($6,328 original amount). Have maintained perfect payment history, paying approximately $3,212 to date with zero missed payments.

Disability Accommodation Request Denied
Currently on medical stress leave for mental health reasons since May 28, 2025. Mental health conditions are protected disabilities under Ontario Human Rights Code Section 10(1)(d). Requested reasonable payment accommodation during this temporary hardship period. Their written response: "Unfortunately we would not be able to accommodate your request." This outright refusal contradicts Ontario Human Rights Code requirements and Financial Consumer Agency of Canada expectations for lenders to provide "tailored support and workable solutions" during customer hardship.

Insurance Fraud
Their website states customers can choose between adding them as loss payee OR paying monthly fees if "unable to add us to your policy." I selected the fee option - my portal clearly shows "Loss Payee Confirmation: File Not Uploaded Yet." After my vehicle was totaled and insurance paid the legitimate loss payee, they're now demanding claim details despite collecting penalty fees for NOT being the loss payee. This contradictory approach seems designed to collect fees while maintaining claim rights they waived.

Payment Method Concerns
Attempted to revoke Pre-Authorized Debit authorization as permitted under Payments Canada Rule H1. Company has not responded in writing to this formal request.

Overall Assessment
Despite perfect payment history and legitimate hardship situation, zero flexibility offered. Their 1.9/5 TrustScore reflects similar experiences from other customers. Would not recommend for anyone facing temporary financial difficulties or expecting reasonable customer service standards.

Recommendation
Explore alternative financing options with more customer-friendly policies.

Stay away from this company

Stay away from this company. They will repos your car after ONE small missed payment and require you to pay thousands to get your car back. If you don’t get car back within their given time frame, they sell it off to auction.

They repo’d my friends vehicle in the middle of the night without warning because of a missed $70 payment.

Save your money borrow from friends but please do not go with this company. All those who are ‘happy’ about Wippy service your day of reckoning is coming. It’s never too late. You will realize you have been hoodwinked bamboozled when that tow truck pulls up outside your driveway or wherever your car is. Stay away from them. The hassle is not worth it. TRUST ME.

Don’t go with them

Don’t go with them. If you miss a payment accidentally they don’t call or email they just send sms and expect you to see it. When they finally email you it’s a demand and pay letter. They are rude and threading if you try and talk with them. Be aware of there hiding fees. Don’t try and switch payment days they won’t do it

This is what this company can't do

This is what this company can't do. They cannot repo the car as the actual car loan has a prior license. To become first they have to pay off the first line. I have never heard of a company repossessing a car or tires already installed.
I read the agreement.. in legal terms, it is unconscionable and the rate of interest at about 40% may offend the law against charging usurious rates.. i just checked the rate to offend the CCC has to be 60% or more.
One of the things that make this agreement wrong is that you have given up any right to a defence.
Technically if they proceed they have to pay off the first lien. Then they can repossess the car and sell it to pay off the amount owing. They just take and take and take. I sent my mp an email stating what this company is doing to consumers. Do not go with them.

A complete rip-off

If you do not understand the wippy.com website, please do not try it at all!!!
Bought an ipod for £5.14 shipping inclusive and then proceeded to check out. An advert with 3 ITEMS with a total cost slashed to 59.99 was the next screen to show: it had an ipad mini and 2 other gadgets that would have costed over £200... thinking the items shown were for 59.99, i proceeded to buy the 250 bid package. In total, the following was removed from my account;
1. £60.09- for the 250 bid package that doesn't contain the items, but instead you can use as bids on their website!
2. £34. 85 for a monthly membership fee i didnt know about.
3. £5.14 for the ipod purchased.
4. £3.00 for three charges for oversees transactions
A total of £103.08 was removed from my account. On calling and asking for a refund, i was told i couldnt be refunded on the 250 package deal 59.99 because i had used 1 bid from it, and i also couldn't be refunded on the 34.85 because of the same reason. i could only be refunded on the 5.14 for the item.

Above all, please do not use your card details at all if you do not want to be charged a monthly membership fee!!!
Cheers Emma.
