Buyer Beware – Misleading Contract and Concerning Business Practices
I am writing this review to warn other authors to proceed with extreme caution when dealing with Wolcott Publishing. I paid for their “Amazon Publishing Agreement,” and after receiving the contract and reviewing the details, it became clear that the company’s practices are not aligned with legitimate publishing standards.
The contract I received contained multiple red flags, including:
No legal business entity listed (no LLC/Inc., no state registration, no tax ID)
Incorrect date on the agreement
- Unprofessional language and errors, including misgendering me in the contract
- Unrealistic promises such as “100% uniqueness guarantee,” "100% royalties,” and “unlimited revisions”
- No termination clause, no refund policy, no timelines, and no clear deliverables
- A virtual office address with no suite number, which raises questions about their physical presence
- A signature block with no titles or legal identifiers, making the agreement non‑binding
After paying, the lack of transparency became even more concerning. The contract does not resemble a legitimate publishing agreement, and the services described are not consistent with industry standards.
I have since requested a refund and initiated a dispute with my bank due to misrepresentation of services
If you are an author considering Wolcott Publishing, please do your research first. The contract and communication I received were not what I would expect from a reputable publishing company. Protect your work, your rights, and your money.
