Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 122 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers express dissatisfaction with the product quality, citing issues like overly salty food mixes, rotten produce, and meat full of bone and fat. The service also receives criticism, with people reporting missing or expired items in deliveries, and difficulties with refunds or finding staff assistance. Delivery services are frequently problematic, with complaints about items not arriving, being left in unsuitable conditions, or being significantly delayed. However, some customers also noted positive interactions with staff members, describing them as friendly, helpful, and going above and beyond to assist. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that the company's bags were inadequate for carrying groceries, often breaking before reaching their destination.

Woolworths the worst supermarket people!

I have been a loyal Woolworths customer for most of my adult life until 2025. Every fortnight I put in my online order for either pick up or delivery - no problems, until around March this year.

For the last few months, I keep getting an error message that my order has not processed and to try again, but despite this, the money has been taken from my bank account or paypal account. I have on occasion had to call their customer service line 3 or 4 times to have the matter resolved. On one particular day over $500 was removed from my bank account and no valid order had been processed, leaving me stuck with no money to purchase anything else, right when I was dealing with the unexpected death of a loved one... It was the absolute last thing I needed. I had better things to do with 4 hours that day, than to sit on hold for nothing to be done to help me.

Nobody has ever been able to explain why this is happening and Woolworths would send me a code to get a discount on my next order.

Fast forward to today and yet again, my order fails, but Woolworths again takes the money from my bank account!!! Besides that, all of these discount codes they have sent to me as an apology to use, don't work and say that they have a zero balance despite me not having used them!!!

I've called customer assistance yet again today and received zero help and was told I don't know why this is happening. I was asked if i would consent to IT contacting me and another voucher... I said what's the point, I've accepted this 5 weeks ago and never received a thing! I've also never had IT contact me to discuss the problems.

I've tried to create a new account and the exact same problem occurs!!!! I've done everything that Woolworths has asked me to do on my end and nothing has changed.

I have wasted hours upon hours on hold to your useless customer help desk and have received zero assistance or resolution. Also, some of the staff in your call centre are extremely hard to understand and get offended and rude if you ask them to repeat themselves.

As a result, I am no longer going to use Woolworths Online, or Woolworths in general... I will take my business elsewhere, where they might actually treat me like a customer and provide good service.

I will now be cancelling my everyday extra account and my everyday rewards and avoiding Woolworths from here on.

Appalling customer service and appalling IT support.

Enough is enough... goodbye Woolworths. I'm sure the other supermarkets will enjoy my families business going forward.

Food delivered close to use by date

. I have cancer and my sister arranged bulk food delivery, delivered food had a short use by date and food cannot be used, most foods had to be consumed in 2 weeks ,the same food items in store have a 8 week shelf life, delivered foods were old, one pre made dinner had past its use by date by 4 days and it was delivered to me in which a refund was provided. Use by dates for packaged fruits in surip had 2 week expiry. Never again with on line food delivery

I shop regularly at Woolworth…

I shop regularly at Woolworth Whitehorse Road in Balwyn 3103. Recently, management has come up with a draconian policy that punishes the majority because of a few unscrupulous shoppers who take the trolleys and leave them by roadsides. They are now charging 50 cents for a token to unlock the trolley. It is inconvenient in a cashless society and carrying tokens to shop is another bit of inconvenience. I only now shop for the necessities at Woolworth and all other large shopping is done at Coles and IGA. I am 77 and carrying heavy baskets is beyond me. Why not have cameras at their entry points to catch these recalcitrants or place beepers to stop these people. Management needs to put on their thinking hats and not punish customers. Don’t look for a simple solution to a problem. I noticed that the trolleys are now always full in their bays suggesting that many like me only do small shopping at Woolworth. It is a pity, because I like Woolworth.

Customer service

I visit Woolworth Aveley North every Friday with my grandson (2yrs). The staff there are so so friendly and helpful. My grandson is always happy to visit the store because he likes to say hello to the staff and customers as we pass them. The staff always acknowledge him, greet him and some end up having a quick conversation with him. The store is always super clean inc the Fresh produce section . Big thankyou to Sylvia, Linda and Sahib.

This feedback is overdue

My review relates to staff members Rodger and Jack at the Kenmore, Woolworths store in Qld.
Fantastic service and assistance was provided to me by both customer service staff. I am very pleased with their A1 service. Thank you Rodger and Jack.
***
For Woolworths - what a fantastic idea to supply shoppers with the new green trolleys. They are not heavy and the wheels don't stop working. I have issues with my wrists and hands. The new trolleys make my shopping so easy!

Beware of the self service scales

Beware of the self service scales, just days ago
I went in to buy some bananas. Normally I wouldn’t be buying so few items and that’s probably the reason why this was so visible. The bananas were $4.90 per kg, but I paid double that. Thinking about it on the way home I thought that isn’t correct, I’d been charged for 1.9kg of Bananas. It was 4 bananas. I weighed them on the scale at home and it was 1.2kg. While I’m here complaining I’ll also take the opportunity to complain about the pathetic ready meals, recently bought two of these butter chicken ready meals, it was 2 for $15. There is no way those meals are meeting the protein on the nutritional label, in both cases they had two tiny pieces of chicken in a sea of sauce, probably about 20g of chicken at most. Really disgraceful stuff. Also given the prices being charged for food in these stores, is it too much to ask for the shopping baskets to be cleaned once in a while. The baskets in my store look like they haven’t been cleaned since Covid restrictions were abandoned, looks like we went from one extreme to the next. The self service kiosks are also another level of disgusting would it be too much to ask to get someone to clean them every couple of hours

Marketplace - Avoid

Marketplace. A scam. Grey imports disguised as Australian domestic market products. Virtually zero customer service, little Australia consumer law protection and crappy communications. I’ve wasted $300 on Apple AirPod Pro 2nd generation. They do not work. Apple will not honour the warranty and Woolies are deaf to my complaints.

Out of touch over paid Corporate Snobs

I like to be able to give Woolworths a zero. I complained back in 2022 and thought I would give them another go but again they have failed as a companyagain. They don't work for the people it's all about the money. The computer system failed but waited an hour before my delivery to send me a text and let me know just before a public holiday well done Woolworths, its not rocket sciene. They are quick to take your money and then make you wait for your refund. Here is a tip stop inconveniencing people by having an outdated computer system give people an e-voucher to the value of the groceries that aren't going to be delivered so they can use it to go and buy groceries. I am sure as a company who are supposed to work for for families you understand that most people budget and having wait for 3 to 5 days for that money to buy groceries means that another bill will have to wait until you get around to refunding money have to get as muxh interest as you can off people. So please get your heads out of the sky and think about the people and the struggles that people are going through and work it out. I don't care I will not use Woolworths again I'm done being inconvenient by overpay corporate snobs who just don't care

Woolworths Mowbray Senior Staff Members Appalling Customer Service

Woolworths Mowbray had Easter bunnies choc and boxed hollow choc eggs on the same display with a big yellow ticket of $6.00, took 6 boxes of eggs to self service and they priced up as $10 so asked for a price check. It took a fair few minutes for a senior staff member to come. She asked my husband to explain the problem, my husband took the staff member over to the display and showed her the pricing in return the staff member asked if my husband could read and voices were raised between staff member and husband. The situation was handled so poorly by this “senior staff member,” and in asking if my husband could read was a very rude and poor response as it was there sign, pricing that started the whole matter and as consumers should we have to be duped into purchases by poor and misleading signage that seems to be Woolworths are renowned for in the hope by the time we as a consumer have gotten to self serve check out we just purchase the product anyway. Poor form, poor service and Senior staff member I hope your not in charge of any training of staff for customer service.

Refusing to refund missing goods

We've used Woolworths online for a very long time. They always f___ something up, whether it's missing items, missing bags, melted frozen goods, someone else's groceries, or on a few occasions - entire deliveries that never showed up.

We've always taken it with a grain of salt because they've always refunded us when they haven't delivered. However, they've recently made a policy change where they "audit" before refunding - in their words a "check was performed by the store before this order was packed and handed over."

Except... we didn't receive $80 worth of groceries. Presumably because the delivery driver left it in the truck, gave it to the wrong person, etc. like they always do. We're out $80 unless I raise a fair trading claim, so we're done with this lot.

If anyone out there still is getting Woolies deliveries, insist that the delivery driver check off every single item in the order before you accept it. If they want to be unreasonable d___heads, then make sure they're held to account.

Height of Incompetence!

I have never in my life expericenced such incompetence! I organized a delivery of Easter chocolates for my niece. I specifically asked that it be left at the downstairs office for her between 9-5. The driver couldn't be bothered to go to the office and gave it to someone in unit 7B out the back. $90 worth of chocolates have been stolen thanks to the driver's incompetence. I called Wollworths to alert them of this, and they said they would resend the order, today I checked the packing list and there is only a quarter of what I ordered, because they say they do not have stock! Whose fault is that??? You stuffed up in the first place so you should ensure that the whole order is delivered not four things!!! Really disgusted and definitely will not be using them again.

Woolworths Like Coles are abusers

Like Coles, Woolworths is on a mission to eradicate employment and replace with tech, they have record profits in a time of financial hardship; they poison us with various methods like bleaching chicken breasts to be more white and wrapping in packaging that secretes harmful chemicals , amongst more:

They rip farmers off and are anti society: time we showed them we can collapse them and go to independent stores.

It’s not convenient when choice is eradicated , help the family businesses not the giant corporations manipulating and abusing us
