I love Workfront

I love Workfront. We implemented it mid-2017, but then I went to LEAP 2018 and drank the Kool-Aid.

I'm the lead system admin for our instance. I find myself geeking out every day. People come to me with questions about how to do something; problems they can't figure out. I love being able to dive into Workfront and sort it out. Logging in as the user - seeing it from their eyes - is priceless. And when I can't figure it out, I go to the Help pages and to the Community to find answers. The Workfront Community is amazingly supportive, and I have been trying to devote some time to support my peers there.

Workfront Rocks!

Workfront: Project (Asset and other) Management Integrated

Workfront is a great web-based project management platform. It is well-designed, and the company continues to make updates to improve it's platform and does not just sit on their hands for one annual update.

It is very easy to link projects, manage workflows, the reporting is intuitive, and much more. In addition, asset management is streamlined with ability to house documents within projects, or as my company does for larger programs that span multiple projects, create an actual Document Repository project that can be used across multiple boards.

The community is very engaged and admins and project managers can speak together to help figure out the more advanced parts of the platform and how to help arrive at the endpoint your are searching for, wherever possible.

They have phenomenal integration with other platforms, with options to have full DAM and more, but each add on increases the price (naturally).

Even as they develop, they tend to have beta areas and accept feedback to continue to improve before they launch something that would impact the entire platform.

Great overall with a few feature limitations

Overall, Workfront is great! It is robust enough to meet the changing needs of various teams and workflows. We have queues, project workflows, and approvals all in Workfront which helps us stay in-tune with each other well.

The newest interface change is not the best. The wireframe nature of it is a little hard to consume, especially when it comes to comments and update feeds. There are some custom form limitations that I wish were solved, but feature requests are in, so we'll see what happens.

I would recommend Workfront to any organization or large department looking to get some control over the creative production process. Though complex, the platform provides automation and transparency that can make an immediate impact.

Great but let's expand!

Workfront has so many capabilities, I only wish it would expand more into the healthcare field, specifically clinical operations. There could be so much more capability in a field that requires structure. Otherwise a great tool to bring into an area where it was essentially non-existent.

Workfront - great experience

Workfront is a great company. The software is incredible and the people who support it are also great. I like the admin capabilities, the ability to create a dynamic form in minutes, create and update workflows easily, and the power reporting capabilities. I wish more thought went into their agile project management but I am sure they will get there.

Overall we are happy with how things…But...

Overall we are happy with how things are going with Workfront! I do want to point out that we have been very surprised (and beginning to grow concerned) at the amount of system glitches we are finding and having to log. Many having to be escalated to 2nd Tier development team to resolve. Although the tool has great potential and functionality, this is certainly holding it back.

Here are a couple usability concern's we've found:
- Frequent system glitches (as mentioned above)
- No timer/stopwatch solution for time tracking
- No way to make logging time on a task mandatory
- No way to create recurring tasks via templates
- Delegating approvals while on vacation is possible, but delegating task assignments is not.
- No consideration of recurring work processes, organizations that execute recurring services or subscriptions for clients. How this factors into operations and financial forecasting, etc.

With that being said, I think Workfront is well equipped to be an industry leader if it can resolve these critical concerns. Without resolving these, I feel many agencies and marketing organizations will feel hindered.

Workfront is worth considering

If you're in the market for an enterprise project management software Workfront is worth considering, it's customization capabilities are awesome.
It's also great at bridging communication between teams assigned to work on the same project and the reporting allows you to monitor work at a glance.

Workfront has had a tremendous impact…

Workfront has had a tremendous impact on our company. Overall, it has significantly increased our efficiency in terms of software releases as well as streamlined out communications internally.

We do run into communication breakdowns though not being able to include external emails (not review users) on general updates or when users cannot view or attach documents in email responses. Things end up falling back to general emails and out of the system which causes some trouble.

We also have performance issues almost daily where we get the "Working on your request" notification bar quite often. This impacts productivity and causes a level of frustration.

We would also like to control our in app/in web notifications as these create a lot of noise when users are on many teams. We rely mostly on the email notifications for assignments but now have double work to clear notifications since the email : In app notifications aren't quite the same so both need to be left on.

We have been very pleased with the types of new features and functionality that has been rolled out in the previous releases. As a software company ourselves, it's nice to see proactive type dev items being delivered. On that note, the testing of these items doesn't quite seem as thorough as it once was and simple things like having html markup in a status update for 3/4 of a business day or not being able to type out a timestamp really have a negative impact on our team. We understand big bugs, we do, but there does seem to be a little less care in testing recently.

Overall, we are happy with our move to workfront and work around these items. We have made a significant investment in the software in both time and money and would just like to see some of the above items addressed.

Thanks!

Workfront has greatly improved the communication and documentation surrounding our marketing project requests. All communication and iterations of creative are captured within the project. Onboarding our internal team and external collaborators has been fairly easy and painless.

Support is timely and knowledgeable when issues come up. There are community forums to discuss issues and stress points with other Workfront users and a forum to suggest future features to make the system work better for your needs.

It may be because of the small size of our company, or because we rolled this product out prematurely, but adoption has been very challenging since we had initially rolled the tool out to the marketing organization over 2 years ago. At this point, Corporate Marketing is the only group that is fully using it, and we are 11 people.

For other groups, like data management, the request queue is offering a great solution for funneling all requests company wide into one place, so that workers can prioritize and run reports to see the volume and severity of requests.

Since this tool is so robust, I feel like it would work really well for a very large company. But for a smaller, rapidly expanding company like mine, we realize that we needed to have processes nailed down before we brought everyone into the tool.
