Dishonest

Dishonest, untrustworthy. My wife and I booked an apartment from 2ndHome in Helsinki. Did not provide correct information at the time of booking. The key collection point was a mile away from the apartment. The keys did not open the apartment. No support was available phone calls not answered . Could not get in to the apartment. Still refused to refund the deposit on false pretext. After a lot of persuasion through Booking.com and myself got the deposit back. Never ever would recommend someone to use their apartment.

Untrustworthy, got scammed by 2ndhomes Tampere / Shillinki Hosting Oy

Extremely poor experience with 2ndhomes Tampere / Shillinki Hosting Oy. We booked an apartment that was advertiset as non-smoking and allergy friendly. Instead got a dirty flat that reeked heavily of sigarette smoke. Needless to say we were not able to stay. Their response when we brought this issue up with them? Complete and utter dismissal, straight up refused to help us. At the end after many stern messages they wanted to set us up with another apartment but of course asked us for more money. Got totally scammed.

Untrustworthy and misleading – do not book with 2ndhomes

My experience with 2ndhomes Oy was extremely negative and deeply concerning. Two days before arrival, my confirmed Hotels.com booking was unilaterally changed to a different apartment without my consent, and afterwards communication came from multiple email addresses and even foreign phone numbers, which felt highly unprofessional.

The apartment we received was not clean (sticky surfaces, stained linens, dirty dishes, sofa with a sharp screw sticking out), and there was a broken glass in the dishwasher. We immediately reported this and were assured this would not affect our deposit.

After check-out, I received an email from them accusing us of smoking, drug use, and breaking the glass (which they already assured would not affect us) — none of which is true.

Despite leaving the apartment in better condition than we found it, 2ndhomes withheld the full deposit and charged an additional amount to my credit card. The company never provided any breakdown or explanation for these charges. Instead, I only received repeated copy-paste replies about “rule violations.”

This combination of unauthorized charges, lack of transparency, and contradictory communication is deeply troubling. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend avoiding this company.

The company is a scam!

We booked an apartment in Helsinki for two nights via Hotels.com, but it was cancelled two days before our stay. We were rebooked with 2ndhome, which required a 200€ sequrity deposit. The apartment was nice but not properly cleaned. Some glasses and dishes were broken, which we immediately reported and they confirmed that we wont be charged for that. We left the apartment cleaner than we found it.

After checkout, we received an email claiming violations such as smoking, drug use, and broken glass, none of which were true. 2ndhome informed us that they will be retaining the security deposit and apply additional charges (300€). They included photos without timestamps of items that we have never seen. None of us smoke or use drugs.
Despite our explanations, 2ndhome keeps sending the same automated response. This is a scam! A police report has been filed.

Cleaner lady stole my bag from The…

Cleaner lady stole my bag from The apartment. After that they cut contact with me. In The bag was my whole life savings,jewellery from decades ago. Police is now taking care of this case. Still no response from 2nd homes.
Don't ever go there!!

I definitely do not recommend this company. I will never stay at any of their properties again.

We came to Helsinki for a 4-day holiday with my family. We had rented an apartment named '2ndhomes Luxury Kamppi Center Apartment with Sauna' from this company. We arrived at the entrance gate of the complex around 5:30 PM, as previously informed to the company. We tried to open the entrance gate according to the instructions provided by the company, but the door did not open. We informed the company about the issue and requested assistance. For the next 2 hours, they stalled us with unnecessary and meaningless booking correspondence and provided no help at all. During this time, my wife, daughter, and I waited on the street. I asked for a phone number to call or communicate via WhatsApp, but they did not provide one. They sent an emergency phone number, which we called multiple times, but it was off. About 2 hours later, we were able to enter the apartment complex thanks to a kind Italian family, and fortunately, we were able to open the residence door without any issues. Since we couldn’t open the gates of the complex, we were unable to leave the apartment together in the evening and were effectively trapped. After about 10:00 pm, they stopped responding to our requests for help through booking and never wrote back. The company's representative only arrived the next day at about 10 am and provided us with a key to the complex. It turned out that the problem was caused by a device they had recently installed.
I can understand that devices can malfunction—errors can happen, and that's normal—but the company's complete indifference to their customers being stranded outside is unacceptable. I've never experienced such poor and low-quality service in my life. I still can't believe how they could fail to assist, knowing that people were left outside.

The worst...do not trust this company. Please do not book via them

Stayed in a dreadful apartment in Helsinki. Dirty nothing worked. Repeated contact and no response. Checked out early and paying for hotel instead. The apartment did not match the pictures at all. The toaster didn't work, didn't even try the dishwasher as it was full of food debris, definitely didn't try sauna as doubt it has ever been cleaned, 200 euros taken as damage deposit but there was literally nothing in there to damage. Oven tray left in oven covered in meat so nothing cleaned in between guests. Floor crawling with silverfish.
Literally the most revolting place I have ever stayed. Please please do not book through this company ever. I am still awaiting a reply and my damage deposit back and suspect I will have a battle but believe me I won't give up.

2homes more like 2class

To start with, check in key collection 15 min walk from the apartment with all your bags not great! Only 1 set of keys between 4 people. Filthy apartment, cigarette butt on the floor surfaces sticky and not wiped down. Mattress is disgusting no mattress protector. Smelly sheet left in the washing machine. Not 1 comfortable chair or couch in the whole place. Most unpleasant and expensive stay I’ve ever had. 2 homes! Never again!!

Not able to check in at all to the…

Not able to check in at all to the reserved property in Tampere. They don't answer the phone and did not send the promised check-in info 24h prior - or never in this case. SCAM!

Dirty, we were left on the street without access a Sunday night

Please, do not trust them. Dirty, not existing a customer service, never a phone number, the worst they cancelled the entrance code 24h before our booking ended so we were left on the street on a sunday night in Helsinki , nobody reachable, we have paid 350€ per night... The worst experience in Airbnb ever.

Watch out

Watch out. I rented a ”luxury” apartment for a week in downtown Helsinki on Fredrikinkatu. The apartment, intended for four people, lacks pillowcases, has only 1 towel (no hand towels), stained pillows, curtains falling off their rods, only one key provided, and the customer service is unresponsive—no replies to emails or calls. The service is unprofessional and nonexistent.

Never again 2ndhomes…

First and last time as a 2ndhomes customer. The apartment was not cleaned when I arrived: there were dirty sheets on the bed, the trash can was overflowing with both trash and alcohol cans, a dirty towel was on a rack in the middle of the living room, and there was a used towel in the sauna. Overall, the apartment was hot and dreadful. When I tried to figure this out right after I arrived at the apartment, the phone number for the customer service was not working and the text messages didn't go through either. In the end, I was able to notify them via Booking.com about the untidyness of the apartment. Communication in English was slow, unclear and finally, after an hour of messaging, they suggested that they would come the next day to clean and extend the check-out. As a business traveler the suggestion was completely unnecessary and did they seriously assume I would sleep on dirty sheets the first night…. For two hours I tried to figure it out and finally left the apartment when there was no certainty about the cleaning. 20 minutes after I left, they still claimed in a message that the apartment had been cleaned. If this was really the case, you can't properly clean up such a mess in that time….

Scammed!

Scammed!! Ruined my Helsinki experience. Booked two nights in an apartment that looked like a crime scene. Towels smelled of urine skid marks on toilet beds not clean. 2nd Holmes apologies but refused to refund me. I had to leave and book a hotel. Disgusting service emergency contact number doesn't work. I chapped on 2ndholmes window a man appeared claimed he didn't work for the company and ended up slamming the door on my face. I'm not sure why booking.com have them on their page I'm saddened.

I want a full refund as I did not stay in the apartments they felt unsafe I thought maybe someone died in the sauna and that's the truth.

My rented AirBnB apartment is obviously a scam

My rented AirBnB apartment is obviously not a private apartment. These has been no maintenance or repairs, so many small thing add to the point that something should to be done. I have already spent too much time to write to AirBnB and 2ndhomes..seems that you do not reveive same information. This is sad, as Your reputation will suffer. Even TV signal does not work properly.

We received only one key and are 2 persons. Magnetig badge does not open the direct doors from Kamppi center to the elevators. Main key was not working during 2 daya, we had to wait for someone coming out. Inadecuate dishes,; few glumsy glasses, no wine glasses, everything is cheapesy and basic; TV, Micro, Coffee Maker. poorest quality or lacking of necessities like toilet and kitchen papers, not enough of towels . Obviously, the maintenance does not understand that LED lightbubs will break when installed with dimmers. No instructions for carbage. Never again.

Scammed out of 200€

All their numbers don't work. Scammed us out of the 200€ deposit claiming a strong smoke smell. Me and my partner only arrived at 3am since we couldn't locate the apartment and no one picked up the phone. We went straight to bed, nor do either of us smoke. (and one has severe asthma) While doing a double check of our items (under bed etc) when leaving, we saw everything out of sight was filthy. Dishes were also dirty. Microwave didn't work, although plugged in, which was a real pain since my partner has severe allergies and brought his own food to warm up, and was not able to do so.

Absolutely horrible experience with…

Absolutely horrible experience with 2ndhomes in Finland in Helsinki where they decided to debit my card without my knowledge and charged my card for a place I didn't even intend to rent in the first place with me and my girlfriend. I didn't check in to the place and I didn't even set foot in the apartment and they refuse to refund the amount as well. They claim that in order to get a refund you have to contact airbnb which I did, and after being in touch with airbnb and making a refund inquiry they decline the inquiry and still refuse to refund the amount I paid. Absolute scammers. The way their service has been as a customer and this little regard for customers is absolutely disgusting. The fact that they can't have any slight oversight over a customer's situation and refuse to refund the amount is unbelievable makes me not trust them to any degree. They have lost all trust in how a company should operate and behave towards customers and how they should conduct business. Absolutely disgusting customer service experience.

No access to apartment - stranded on the streets at 10:30pm

My partner, my partner's 17yo daughter and I travelled to Helsinki, Finland last week to attend an open day. For our stay, we booked an apartment with 2ndhomes, which is based in Helsinki. Our booking was for two nights.

This was easily the worst holiday rental experience of my life. The door access code we were provided with didn’t work - we tried it repeatedly. We then tried calling the “emergency” number that had been provided by 2ndhomes. However, there was no reply. The result? We were on the streets at 10:30pm with nowhere to stay. We had to search for alternative accommodation as a matter of urgency, in the end booking into a hotel.

We went to 2ndhomes’ office the next day. They claimed they’d given us the correct door access code. They also claimed that we hadn’t called their emergency number. However, we produced a video showing us entering the access code they’d given us. We also produced a screenshot showing our call to the emergency number. They said they would “need to investigate”, but that they wouldn’t be able to do so until the following Monday (three days later).

Matters remain unresolved - 2ndhomes has said that it will reimburse the first of our two nights. They refused to reimburse the second night, on grounds that we chose to stay elsewhere - by then, we had lost all trust in them. However, no payment has been received. This behaviour is consistent with other online reviews I've read.

2ndhomes refuses to pay our additional hotel costs, and continues to make illogical and nonsensical excuses. I only wish I'd read some of the many Google reviews before booking. Interestingly, on one page in particular, about half of the reviews are 1 star, and half are 5 stars. I leave the reader to draw his or her own conclusions as to where the 5 star reviews came from!

We feel deeply disappointed and saddened by our experience with 2ndhomes, particularly given the fact that the Finnish culture is generally known to be one of mutual trust and respect.
