Access Loft Conversions / ALC Holdings UK Ltd are a complete misrepresentation of who they advertise to be – they are not who they say they are. Their website, brochure, contact and terms and conditions are lies. They do not do anything they say on the tin.
They advertise and inform their customers that they are members of the Federation of Master Builders – they are not members they were expelled in 2020!!! Still on website, paperwork…..
So as a customer when it goes wrong and as ours has gone wrong and we are aware of other customers who have had problems/ complaints with this company. Then you have no help, support or protection from Federation of Master Builders to get your issues resolved with this company you’re on your own.
Our loft conversion was meant to take 4-5 weeks and we are now into week 10 with no light at the end of the tunnel. They have left us with outstanding contact work, lots of errors in their workmanship, used damaged materials and they have also damaged our property.
Over the whole 10 week period we have had constant excuses from the Director with “it’s not his fault” he just blames his sub-contractors who he employees. He also does not care what damage they cause to your property. He is not bothered that the architect has done the drawings wrong and not advised you correctly on what’s included and what it will really look like. When you have faulty or wrong materials he advises the contractors to use them and bodge it. We have damage to our home which they refuse to put right and pay for. Over all the workmanship is very poor, unprofessional ways of working and non-compliance to our drawing and contract.
We requested that the director attends our property to see the issues which he point blank refused to do as he doesn’t care. They have had a formal complaint in writing stating the list of the issues left including the damage and the director has not responded to this letter all we received was an email threatened us with solicitors unless we pay him the last 15%. If we do this then he will send the contactors back to finish the few outstanding contact items he has not mentioned any of the other issues and the damage. The last 10 weeks have been mentally stressful, a complete disruption to our home & life’s and overall very upsetting for our family. We have waited 10 years to have this loft conversion done to our home with our savings and the director clearly doesn’t care how the work is completed and the poor standard and quality of finish he leaves your home in. All he does is ignores the customer and if you do manage to get hold of him your threatened and bullied to pay or take the contractors off the job and just leave you after he has taken your hard earned money, leave the scaffolding up for months and withheld your certificates.
We have been left to find our own contractors to complete the outstanding work and put their poor standard and wrong work right to a professional standard to complete our home to what we expected them to do so we can get our property back to some normality which it will be never 100% right as we have not got what we were sold. But this all comes at an extra cost to us not Access Loft Conversions / ALC Holdings UK Ltd and with the list of defects and damage we have been left with this is now into the high thousands of £ which we do not have.
I would not recommend this company to anyone please do not use them do your research and go elsewhere.
