Horrible experience and personal data breach
7I wrote a negative Google review using a pseudonym (i.e not my real name) after an extremely negative event at this salon after being a customer for 2 years who went into the salon every 2 weeks like clockwork. I received no apology for the mistreatment. Instead, Adeline decided to intimidate me by responding to my review on Google and disclosing my full first and last name which she retrieved from her payment and booking system at the salon.
I intentionally use a pseudonym on my Google profile in order to protect my privacy. My full name was not provided by me in that context — it was taken from the shop's payment and booking system and subsequently published in a public forum without my consent.
A message to Adeline: This is a misuse of personal data collected for one purpose (transaction processing) and disclosed for another (a public response to a review), which raises serious concerns under UK/EU GDPR, specifically regarding the unlawful processing of personal data.
I would also note that Google's platform policies explicitly prohibit business owners from disclosing users' private information, including real names, in public responses. Your reply appears to be in breach of these policies as well.
Please be advised that I have retained screenshots of the original reply as evidence, regardless of any subsequent edits or deletions.
I will be:
1) Reporting this matter to the relevant data protection authority
2) Reporting the breach of platform policy directly to Google
3) Seeking legal advice regarding this
