Adverts.ie - A Haven for Scammers
It's disheartening to witness how Adverts.ie, once a reliable online marketplace, has fallen victim to a plague of scammers. Recently, I have come across a deeply concerning trend that has left me questioning the integrity of the platform.
Multiple sellers, allegedly operating under the guise of private sellers, have flooded Adverts.ie with an astonishing number of ads, each boasting an inventory of nearly 4,000 listings. This sheer volume of listings immediately raises suspicions as it goes beyond the realm of private selling and treads into the territory of commercial selling. Such rampant activity should necessitate proper registration and compliance with tax and VAT regulations.
Shockingly, these sellers have chosen to evade their fiscal obligations, refusing to provide any VAT or tax information upon request. Instead of cooperating, they opt to block any inquiries about their financial transparency. This blatant disregard for tax regulations is a matter of grave concern, especially with DAC7 obligations on the horizon.
What's even more alarming is the apparent complicity of Adverts.ie in these dubious activities. Two of my friends, who attempted to expose one of these questionable accounts by leaving negative feedback, had 3 of their reviews mysteriously deleted. This not only points to a lack of transparency but also suggests that Adverts.ie might be concealing the extent of this issue from its users.
In response to this troubling situation, my friends and I have reached out to other reputable sellers on Adverts and diligently collected evidence in the form of screenshots, which we intend to provide to the relevant authorities, including Revenue, to shed light on these unscrupulous sellers and their activities.
In conclusion, Adverts.ie's current state is a far cry from the trustworthy platform it once was. The rampant presence of scammers, along with the platform's apparent unwillingness to address the issue transparently, has severely tarnished its reputation. Until Adverts.ie takes decisive action against these scammers and restores trust within its community, I can only urge potential buyers to exercise extreme caution when using this platform and request VAT ID from Shops and check it aligns with VIES.
Worst customs..blocking you…
Worst customer service!! Will block you anytime!!!! No respect for customers, no solving issues. Random adverts member with 0 feedbacks whatsoever can report you and adverts will block you having 100 good reviews and 0 bad ones.
my account is blocked without reason
annoyed and confused
My account is blocked today and i dont know why it happened to me. I have more than 20 good feedbacks, no bad comments and follow every advert rules.
It happened all of a sudden
kelvin
Originally good but worrying lack of support
Adverts started as a half decent site but despite being helpful and having a good standing account, not only do Adverts staff refuse to support with an issue but they don’t even reply. This has been going on for over a year.
Please heed the warnings on here and stay away. You are much more likely to be scammed and discriminated against in recent times that meet a genuine person on it.
The system is so bad
The system is so bad. My partner sold a broken phone to the worst kind of buyer. He asked him a password to remove a Google account when there's other way around it. We gave the password anyway because the buyer insisted, then he didn't respond for 4 days although my partner asked if everything was done. 4 days later, he came back and said he still needs the sensitive information. My partner didn't respond to this then he blocked my partner and left him negative feedback. My partner can't leave the buyer negative feedback because he already blocked my partner. Really terrible system, my partner doesn't deserve the negative feedback when the buyer isn't responsive at all and leave you in a limbo fearing the personal details might be compromised.
This platform supports scammers
Tried to buy a phone over Adverts.ie for €255 last week, give my address and eircode to seller and send him money on his PayPal acc. two days after seller rejected my offer that he previously accepted, made that phone available for saleagn, he blocked me so i can't contact him or leave a feedback, changed his name and profile pic on adverts acc,and deleted his PayPal acc. I contacted Adverts.ie support team explained situation. They suspended him for less than 24h. After that i saw him online again. this time i was able to leave feedback and pm him. Seller told me that if i don't get phone by Friday(all happened this week) he will send another one. But mostly he gave me treats if i don't remove negative feedback. Friday came, phone didn't. Tried to contact seller again. but i was blocked by him once again. Tried to contact Adverts.ie again to ask why is this person still operating when my dispute against him is not sorted out. They didn't answered me. Seller is now this moment selling same made of the phone on this platform (probably one that i payed for already). Adverts allowed him to got me blocked again so he doesn't get distracted while scanning someone else potentially.I just wanna know why is that seller not permanently banned, the name of seller acc is "thelonerager" just for a record to be aware. This platform support scammers. I'm sorry that i didn't checked their status on trust pilot first. Now they gonna probably give me some pity answer o this like "Hi there, if you can contact us on support@adverts in relation to comments been left on your ads, then we can look into this further for you. Thanks" which i did but with no result

Filled with professional sellers in the…
Filled with professional sellers in the phone sections. Same person has loads of accounts. They write rubbish on your ads with their other accounts and then come in with lowball offers. If you submit then your phone is up on their main account a couple of days later for the price you initially wanted. A lot of bullying going on by greedy predators. You know who you are up there in Waterford lad. Yes you with the tonnes of artificially inflated feedback. You have tonnes of repeated feedback from the same person. I also see your negatives get deleted very fast!

AVOID
AVOID. Do yourself a favour and listen to the majority of reviewers here. My experience was exactly the same. Seller starts a transaction then blocks. Been on another well known selling sites and never had such a problem.
You will read below my review here an offer to contact. I did so and there was no response.

Positive overall experience
I'm surprised about all the bad reviews. I've been using this site for 2 years or so and have had hardly any trouble. Sure there's always a few who looks for bank details and meeting in a public place is advisable but overall i find it good. My only complaint is that you have to click on your ads to see comments made. Not all comments show up in comments and offers section so I've missed a few sometimes. Also being able to private message someone without bidding would be good because sometimes you don't want everything public. And to keep up the filtering out of scam artists because like other buy and sell sites they are being used by dodgy people.

Terrible Moderators
Terrible Moderators
After I didn’t accept his offer, a rude user specifically complained on a public comment section that he couldn’t ‘say anything racist’ (against me that is) and encouraged another user to leave a rude comment on my profile after I’d blocked him.
Instead of banning this user, the moderators just said they ‘blocked him’ from further contacting me when I had already blocked him. You’d think that a user openly discriminating against another user and encouraging bullying by involving another user would end up in a permanent ban, but it didn’t.
Disgraceful.
Second hand stuff can priced over the new price
You have to bid on this buying platform before you can private message, which is a big drawback. You can ask a question but its in public and all interested parties get relayed your emails to the seller and his/her reply to you. Second had stuff can be priced far over the new price by a load of chancers. Watches, bicycles as two examples can be many years old and looking for their money back or higher. You will find a good number of ads which are non-negotiable. Always check the item or items as if you were buying them new and many times you will save a load of money if you bought them new with a warranty and no worries about misleading descriptions. Second hand stuff should always be negotiable. Remember you will have no warranty many times unless it is from a business, so paying a lesser price negates the risk somewhat.
BAD SITE!!!
Very bad site, bad sellers tries to scam and when you report seller to them they ban you!!!

Well run and useful site.
I see a lot of negative feedback on Adverts but I’ve mostly good experiences on there.
There are scammers on there (just joined, numerous full price offer and no location) that I’ve reported
Removed promptly.
And if I have trouble I find Eddie extremely helpful and understanding.
Try and deal with high positive feedback sellers and usually everything goes well.
I’ll keep dealing on there as long as it’s run like now.

Adverts were good but with no bumps, no longer..
Have used adverts successfully for quite some time but now there seem to be little to no free bumps (even though their website states you should get on every 30 days - I got 4 on 42 ads in a month!) This means your ads fall down the priority quickly and nothing sells. Moving to fb marketplace as they offer weekly bumps.

Really disappointed with Adverts
Really disappointed with Adverts. Paid for an item which I never received. Left a negative review if the seller which they were able to remove??!! How is this possible?! Also, there's no way of me getting my money back so my advice is to avoid this site
Absolutely horrible admins
Be been a regular user of adverts for a while now. Never given anyone a bad experience and never have I been given a bad feed back. But yet adverts disabled my account and refuse to respond to my emails asking them why they did it. They gave me no reason as to why and are too cowardly to respond to me. Absolutely horrible website and I recommend you avoid
