I called before filing a Service Request to make sure my “Smart Toilet” was covered. AHS assured me that it was. I filed the SR. Paid $125.00 “Visit fee.”They sent F6 Plumbing LLC. There were 2 smelly stinky men that immediately needed to call AHS for a work authorization which was “denied.” One man stated that they did not repair Smart Toilets period and had NO TRAINING. So I’m out of $125.00 + $48.00 monthly fee. AVOID AHS LIKE THE PLAGUE IT IS! I’m cancelling my warranty!
Mostly OK....until you sell your home and need to cancel your home warranty (because, you know, no more home that needs the warranty protection). At this point they make it virtually impossible to actually cancel, and in the meantime continue billing for another month. I finally had to give up and just cancel the credit card that they were charging. You can sign up and request services all online, but no way to end the warranty contract. With I would have known. I would never have purchased it and I recommend staying away unless you intend to keep the warranty forever.

Horror show.
That’s been our experience with American Home Shield. Horror show.
They send contractors that need the work- so the call out fee is lower- and you (the customer of AHS) certainly get what they paid for. Their contractor broke our boiler- it can’t be repaired after what they did and I have reports from contractors WEVE sought out to prove it.
AHS delayed, lied, and ultimately stood behind the work of their terrible contractor who abandoned their work, leaving our boiler in pieces and us without heat in Chicago in March.
How is this company still allowed to operate? Run from AHS and set up a small savings account to cover repairs when you need. I wish we’d never signed up for this “warranty” which has not only been an absolute waste of money but has also allowed someone to damage the most expensive appliance in our home.
The one positive thing? I now know how important it is to vet contractors.

We had AHS send 2 appliance companies to fix our washer the first one fixed it and the second one couldn’t so AHS gave us a $800.00 voucher for Lowe’s and we got a brand new washer
Thank you for all your help.

Had American home shield for a year and I used the service for the first time and they were on time. Sent a service provider out for my AC unit. They did a full diagnostic and fixed the problem the next day. Best service for my home I could have asked for.

They are a complete ripoff. Their contrctor could not fix the problem. I ended up replacing the heat pump. They said I quailifed for a $425 reimbursement, but then had me decline it thinking they were going to let my contractor do the diagnosis because their contractor failed to identify the problem. They then told me that my contractor could not do the diagnosis. When I asked for the $425 reinbursement they said I had declined it. They continued to bill me after I thought they canelled the service. When I called them up to cancel the contract they put me on endlesss hold. They are a SCAM. I ended up stopping payment at my bank.

On 4/27 an American Home Shield plumber diagnosed my well pump as being bad over video. I put in a service request American Home Shiled took my money and now over 72 hours later i have heard nothing. When i Call they tell me they are working on finding a contractor. When I request outside authorization they tell me no. Worst customer service ever don't use.

My AC thermostat was damaged when I bought my house. AHS denied my claim to replace it after charging me $125.00. They refused to refund my money calling it a service fee. Without AHS, I could have gotten a free estimate. Trying to cancel AHS is a nightmare!! Company is a total rip off! Beware!

It was a nice experience. He addressed the problem and we think this will correct the issue.

So after 12 years. I requested service for my washing machine and person came out and said I needed a part. Now AHS is refusing to pay for the repair. Saying I broke the switch. All we did was push the button, and it broke. I have had this washer for over 14 years and with my kids and the wife and I have pushed that start button a few thousand times. I would say if finally wore out. For AHS to come up with a BS denial is ridiculous. So I have canceled my contract and my wife is going to cancel her contract on her house. So all the people who say AHS does not want to repair , it is very true. I will be posting bad reviews on all the social media sites I can find. Now I see why they have a rating on BBB of 1.36 stars out of 5. I am even considering small claims court.

The online process was customer friendly and the follow up communication was excellent. I received immediate notification as to my request and as to the contract service provider for my HVAC issues. The A-US Air Conditioning contractor was also efficient in their service and provided constant updates as to what the technician was doing to resolve the issue with our HVAC system. My only minor complaint was the additional day it required.

My 40‑inch range has been non‑functional for over 3 weeks. The technician determined the required part is discontinued and the repair could not be completed. AHS proposed a “rebuild,” which required removing the part and shipping it out, leaving me without any way to cook for an additional 1–2 weeks. What am supposed to do?? Despite the discontinued part, failed repair, and extended loss of use, AHS offered only $200–$350. This is not a reasonable for a specialty 40‑inch range. I escalated the claim and requested supervisor review, but AHS continues to rely on Section H even though the repair path is not viable. The people that I dealt with were cold and couldn’t care less! What a horrible experience and company.

Astonished how bad this company is at their services… after having stayed home in February between eight and five the technician did not show up. Yesterday I was home between eight and five on another confirmed appointment and another no-show. We now have two complete nine hour days where there’s no communication and technician does not show up. I’m now 2 1/2 months down the road without repairs. I’m not one to spend time on things like this, but there has to be some sort of consequences for wasting peoples time and not providing the service that people pay for. This now overtakes my worst experience as a consumer.

AHS is the worse warranty company ever... they would not replace my frig that broke down 3+ times in a year period. Kept replacing parts and sending out non qualified techs, just to send out the tech who could replaced the parts because they were pressurized. Then after the multiple parts were replaced, they would go out in like 3 mos. And start the whole all over again and having multiple techs in and out of your home is unacceptable. They never replaced my frig that was less than 5 yrs old. And when I canceled, they tried to give me a month free and tried to talk me out of it... i had to say just like this... I DO NOT WANT YOUR SERVICE OR POLICIES ANY LONGER, CANCEL MY POLICY... and yes I had to YELL because they tried to transfer me to another group to smooth things over so i could stay with them... STAY AWAY FRO THEM THEY ARE THE WORSE!!!!!!!!!

American Home Shield issues with W4 Pool Service
I submitted a ticket on January 8, 2026; Dispatch #502273378. The repair was for the pool pump and pool plumbing. He called on January 9, 2026, asking for more information on the repair. I texted photos. He said he would be there asap to fix the pool. I sent a text on January 15, 2026 asking when he was coming, again on January 17, 2026, and again on January 19, 2026. He called on that date and came out on January 20, 2026 to repair the pool, 12 days after the ticket was submitted and assigned.
I submitted a ticket on April 16, 2026; Dispatch #3589439. The repair was for the pool pump, pool filter, and pool electrical. The pool pump does not suck from the hot tub and needs to be primed almost daily in order to work properly. The filter is not filtering properly, leaving a large amount of stuff in the pool.
I sent a text to the phone number asking about getting on the list to get it repaired asap on April 17, 2026. He replied to my text message and we spoke on the phone regarding the issue. I also texted pictures of the electrical issue.
When we spoke over the phone on April 17, 2026, he said he would be out on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, to complete the repairs. He did not text or call and did not show up until 8am on Thursday, April 23, 2026. He replaced the breaker and left the cover off the main box. Then he asked about the pump. I explained that it needs to be primed regularly and that it does not pull from the hot tub at all. He replied that it is probably an air pocket. I told him that I don’t think that is the case because it pulls fine from the pool. He said he would replace the o-ring in the valve, which had already been replaced last year. Then he said he had to go because he had fifteen appointments that day. He left the electrical box open, the cover removed, the screws out on the hot tub heater, and the sun cover on the control module up. I assumed he was going to be returning to complete the repairs, but then received a notification via the ahs app that the ticket was marked as complete. When I said it was not complete, I had a missed call from him but he did not answer when I returned the call. I then texted him pictures of what he had left undone and how he did not fix anything.
I called the American Home Shield number and asked why the ticket had been closed, and they replied that the issue was fixed and that the pump and the filter were due to secondary damage. I explained that he did not even look at them and that he was lying. They explained that I would have to contact him. I tried. I sent him the following messages.
I contacted American Home Shield again on Thursday, April 23, 2026, and they offered me a second opinion, but said that I would be liable for the $100 copay if the same conclusion is drawn. I said to go ahead but I need to make sure they actually look at each of the issues. It was opened and then closed on the same date.
On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, I called American Home Shield to ask 1) how to lodge a formal complaint about W4 Companies and 2) how to get my pool repaired, as it has again been 12 days since I submitted the ticket and the pool is still not functional and my electrical box has been open to the elements since April 23, 2026. They offered me a second opinion again and I accepted again. Then they told me that they do not have any contractors available to assign the ticket to and that it has been escalated. I was finally able to speak to Emmanual when the ticket was escalated. I again asked for an email address to send the pictures of the poor repairs and he said an investigation would be completed. Now I am waiting for my pool to be repaired as it turns green due to not being able to be filtered.

This company is a scam. Their representatives barely speak english and they hire the most unqualified vendors possible- including HVAC techs that require a credit card # to be provided via phone for service. It has taken two weeks and a dozen calls to get no where. DO NOT PAY FOR THEIR WARRANTY
