Very disappointing experience - not recommended

Very disappointing experience with the host and Airbnb.

I booked late due to a flight delay and, since I don’t read Portuguese, I did not notice there was no parking. The host later informed me and asked me to pay extra outside Airbnb platform for parking payment I immediately asked for a cancellation a few hours after booking because the city doesnt have a good public parking system and the car is a must to have, but the host refused and demanded 50%.

When I said by meaning I will leave an honest review after checkout, the host reported to Airbnb that he was uncomfortable hosting me and stayed me and my family with 5 YO kid for 4 hours on the road without any customer service and caring, yet my payment was not refunded.

I don’t recommend this apartment or this host. This kind of mentality doesnt match if you are going in Holiday
*** WING | 2 Suites | Beachfront | Sea View | BC
*** Entire rental unit in Balneário Camboriú, Brazil
4 guests2 bedrooms2 beds2.5 baths

This is the host account shows just 1 year as host and all his portfolio, he might ask for extra service to be paid outside Airbnb.

Airbnb does not proteAirbnb does not protect hosts or assume responsibility: losses always remain with the ownerct hosts nor…

Airbnb does not protect hosts nor assume responsibility for them!

Be prepared: when damage is caused by guests, the loss will be the sole responsibility of the property owner.

We have worked in the tourism and vacation rental sector for over 25 years, long before Airbnb existed, and only recently have we started using the platform, among other channels.

Recently, we faced a serious case of property damage during a stay, duly documented with:

- a signed inspection report at check-in, confirming delivery in perfect condition;

- complete photographic documentation before the guest's arrival;

- photos of the damage immediately after check-out;

- formal communication from the condominium regarding the guest's inappropriate behavior.

In other words, the property was demonstrably delivered in perfect condition and, at the end of the stay, presented evident and documented damage. The cause-and-effect relationship is logical, direct, unequivocal, and proven.

Even so, Airbnb refused the refund, claiming there is no conclusive proof that the damage was caused by the guest.

This unfounded justification and denial of clear evidence demonstrates that Airbnb is shirking responsibility, preventing refunds, and transferring all losses to the property owner.

This shows that the AirCover host protection is merely theoretical and illusory, failing to function when truly needed.

We are evaluating, together with our legal department, the appropriate measures to defend our rights and obtain compensation for the losses suffered.

We warn other hosts: do not trust the protection offered by the Airbnb platform, as in practice it proves to be without real guarantees.

The information was incorrect on…

The information was incorrect on airbnb's on listing. The washing machine listed was outside the property, round a driveway, in the owner's garage. It was dirty and hard to get to...cluttered with the owners items.
Reported straight away to airbnb, started off fine then we heard nothing & kept having to repeat stating the problem over and over again to different agents...in Toronto I think. After leaving the property after 8 days later airbnb still had no response. Eventually I was sent a message advising I would get a refund of 30% of each night stopped and the case would be closed...still have no idea who was dealing with the case. If you have a problem...be warned!

Artificial Insanity

I am a host. It's over 2 months that they hold the payments of 3 bookings. The assistance is inefficient, inadequate, frustrating: they ask for a document that I sent them several times, and every time they ask for the same thing as if I didn't send it. I think this service is managed by A.I. But beyond them there is an Artificial Insanity. I say this because don't want to think to a worse reason: holding the money you manage on behalf of someone else in my country is a crime

AIRBNB EXPOSES CONSUMERS TO COVID19 VIRUS IN RIO AND DOESNT CARE ABOUT IT

I hired a stay in Rio de Janeiro for a month, I arrived there and the place had nothing to do with what was advertised, there were even terrible conditions in the facilities and structural problems inside and outside the property that was banned by civil works. I left the site immediately and tried to contact and support Airbnb from 9 in the morning and until the end of the afternoon of the same day, wait with suitcases in the street, desperate, without help, without assistance, without an answer, in place completely insecure without being able to carry mobile phone and internet access and the worst, exposed to coronavirus. I missed two professional appointments I had that day and my entire planning for the month was frustrated! airbnb didn't even contact me, on the contrary, I had to spend money on stressful calls that left me listening to music and no one answered. I went to register the occurrence of injury and fraud at a police station and I still stopped at the hospital because due to the high stress, tension and emotional upheaval caused by all this, they put me at risk for being out of the house. I reiterate that I have not had any support from Airbnb so far, and due to a doctor's recommendation to take rest and medication to monitor covid symptoms, I had to bear unforeseen expenses to return to the place of origin, which Airbnb did not refunded me and has not helped me so far. if it depended on this company, it would be until now, for more than 72 hours on the street, without support and help, because then it is said that they act with fraud and harm to consumers by advertising housing places that are totally different from reality and do not provide any kind service to customers who are unfairly placed in a state of vulnerability, exposure to covid19 contagion in the midst of a pandemic and even risk to life and physical and mental integrity!

DO NOT USE THIS SITE EVER! Their customer service is worse than any other company I have ever used! It is just as bad whether you are a guest or a host. Use VRBO instead!

Epic Fail

Listings were not up to date. They were either unavailable or not priced correctly. A host canceled my paid and confirmed reservation and Airbnb took almost a month to refund my money. I had to cancel my trip because of their incompetent customer service. Do yourself a favor. Don't use them. They need to do some serious housekeeping.

Never use Airbnb!

My husband and I paid for the unbelievably bad room for three nights. The picture shown in the website didn't really tell us that room has a yucky smell.

The bed was dented into the center, and the pillows, the comforter, and the blanket had also a yucky smell like they had never been washed.
The dishes were dirty, and the refrigerator was full of the owner's foods just like he was there!

Next early morning, we had to find a hotel and to moved there.

All money for three nights was never refunded and the customer service was never helpful. Very unreliable company.

Don't use Airbnb. Not only you lose your money, but you will be on the street with your luggage that you will wonder where you should go during the trip.

Review integrity is unique @Airbnb. All pay per booking Airbnb competitors are scam operations or inadequate. Airbnb protects guests well.

This review applies to Airbnb US and HQ. However since many international guests use Airbnb when they travel in the US, this applies to them as well and the platform is the same around the world anyway.

Review integrity is unique at Airbnb, not only in its industry but also among all internet companies. This is a huge win for guests as any intelligent person who is risk averse will select a host with many good reviews and be fairly sure that they will get a good experience. This is because on average Airbnb reviews are very accurate. Possibly only Ebay can compare with Airbnb as far as Review integriy. Many other internet companies like Yelp and Tripadvisor cannot compare with Airbnb and pose severe risks to users and guests. From my experience Yelp and Tripadvisor are corrupt and unreliable and their reviews are junk on average and/or do not have the right people and right systems to handle what they try to sell to the public.

Airbnb invests massive resources and very smart and nice people to ensure the integrity and accuracy of reviews. They keep improving although there is still room for improvement. I would like to see Airbnb add star reviews for guests too not just hosts; similarly to what Ebay does where both buyers and sellers are star rated (not just description rated). This would ensure that each Airbnb transaction is smooth for both guests and hosts and that Airbnb would succeed even more.

Airbnb has no competition; all its competitors do not have the resources, ethics, integrity, people and systems that Airbnb has. In fact some of Airbnb competitors, including well recognized names such as Tripadvisor, are essentially scam operations. I am not familiar with VBRO and other non pay per booking operations so I cannot rate them but if VBRO and other were smart they would switch to a pay per booking model so that hosts do not have to pay a huge fee upfront.

In essence many of the recent reviews of angry guests about Airbnb are either fake or the guests did not take the appropriate precautions such as choosing a host with many positive reviews so they get what they ask for.

Another area of improvement for Airbnb would be adding the ability for hosts to include special amenities such as indoor pool vs outdoor pool, private garage etc because many guests do actively look for special amenities but the current Airbnb menu does not allow for that search while many of Airbnb competitors do allow more options in search.

Airbnb has made huge improvements recently. I had an old Truspilot review of Airbnb with 2 stars
