Kenya Airtel network quality ispathetic

Kenya Airtel network quality is absolutely pathetic. The internet speed is extremely slow, unstable, and unreliable, even in areas where network coverage is supposed to be good. Calls drop frequently, data disconnects without reason, and basic online tasks become frustratingly difficult.
Despite charging for data and services, Airtel fails to deliver consistent performance. Customer support rarely provides real solutions, and network issues seem to be ongoing with no proper improvement.
Overall, Airtel Kenya offers poor value for money. Until there is a serious upgrade in infrastructure and service reliability, it is hard to recommend this network to anyone

Apriciation

I don't know if anyone writes reveiws here but I really appreciate the Internet speed airtel has been providing lately.Airtel truly deserves to be the leading ISP in Kenya.I have been getting smooth 1.2mbps download speed from a remote area in the country and the network is not even 4G here. The fact that its faster than 4G safaricom serrvice just buggles my mind.I definitely recommend Airtel Kenya to anyone looking for a smooth ISP in Kenya. Thanks Airtel and keep o with the good work.

This is my second time I've lost money…

This is my second time I've lost money through aitel money. The first time I used airtelmoney by choice to pay for transport fee. Transaction messages never appeared so I ended paying twice, called the customer care service for reversal but it was all in vain, today I did the same transaction but this time, it was the only option I had. I called the customer service, I was promised the transaction will be completed, it's been more than 12 hours and there is no hopes at all, after talking to one of them, I've not managed to go through a customer care agent again, I'm wondering how they managed to block my call from speaking to them. Yet they have not send the transaction text and still i can't get through... I felt harassed and frustrated by a taut.... Would this be a kind of fraud?

What is all this nonsense of Airtel…

What is all this nonsense of Airtel sending this message every time since 2023. It is very annoying.

"We noticed that your SIM card is not giving you the best performance. Visit an Airtel shop with your ORIGINAL ID to replace it. Dial *100# to find a shop".

I have been their post paid customer…

I have been their post paid customer for 20 plus years. They are extremely inefficient and incompetent. I have been disabled from making calls and buying bundles for the past week as my limit is depleted apparently. However my bill shows a credit of Kshs 32. Their customer service is a joke and they aren’t offering any solution. I am just planning to port to Safaricom as Airtel is absolutely useless!

Airtel Inability to inform you when…

Airtel Inability to inform you when minutes are over and you end up using your credit, is very Incompetent. Network problems and airtel money shut downs frequently. Higly suggest a better options than airtel.

Drain of credit

This happened twice.
On February of 2024 I bought KSH 200 of credit and used KSH 50 for Internet bundles, after a week went by of not using my credit at all, meaning never texted anyone, never turned on my data and never made any outgoing calls. I lost KSH 94 and I never made a big deal about it because it never happened again. On the 28th of May when I reloaded a total of KSH 460, used KSH 43 for calling and texting and KSH 70 for bundles. Left it until the 31st of May when I wanted to check my balance which only read KSH 97. I was very much confused because a chunk of KSH 250 was clearly missing, I immediately decided to call the 100 number and spoke to a representative, he bogged it down to me having the active data manager switched off resulting in the draining of my credit. I explained how I never turned on my data or used the credit for anything, he never believed me and just hang up. I then when to check the status on my active data manager which Airtel themselves sent a message saying that my active data manager is already active. I called back the 100 number and got another person(female this time round) She claimed that I had turned on my active data manager by talking to the previous person. Despite me not asking him to do that at all or me doing that, she then said that her end shows that I clearly drained my own credit, she hung up and was nicer than the last person. I went to my data usage history on my phone to check if what they say is true, fortunately for me the phone showed that 0 MB was used from the SIM card between the 28th of May and 31st of May. I downloaded two separate third party apps which showed the same results, the only source of Internet between those dates was Wi-Fi based on the usage not the SIM card. I first emailed them on the 1st of June with screenshots of my settings between the 28th of May and 31st of May and the data usage also explaining that I'djust want a refund of the credit drained between those the 28th of May and 31st of May. I got a call back from their +254733100000 number which lasted 7 minutes long. The call was essentially them accusing me for making up screenshots and their side is the only empirically valid option that says I drained all my credit by myself. I asked if a screen recording or a video recording of my phone settings and data usage itself would suffice but he declined and blocked and when I tried to plea with him to simply look at what my phone says, he just hang up mid conversation. I sent the phone recordings and screen recordings and after trying to call the 100 number and the +254733100000 number I just get a invalid number, meaning I was blocked. I have around KSH 49 left on my Airtel, I plan on using all of it in a few minutes then just destroying my Airtel SIM card. As much as Safaricom is expensive, atleast they don't do such things. I would rather take an expensive, reliable and cooperative customer experience than ones that are cheap/affordable, unreliable and a customer care system that is only there to tell you how to give them more money

I am really shocked how Airtel steals!!

I am really shocked, how Airtel Kenya operates. These are the illegal practices that Airtel Kenya did in the past 2.5 months since I bought the lines:

- I inquired switching off promotional messages that pops up up to 4 times and hour and interrupt my calls, internet etc... I have called over 20 times, inquired switching it off for what I have right. Airtel created several tickets and never acted.

- I bought a bundles package, but the internet did not work. Airtel told me that they can not revert, because I used 1 MB, the rest it simply didnt work.

- I bought bundle one times, airtel deduted 3 times. When I called to revert, they did. Soon I have received message that the ticket has been solved (but of course money were not comming). Airtel told me that I used a bit of all the package so they couldn´t have been reverted.

- Airtel offers 25% airtime when buying airtine using mobile money. I have so far not receive anything. Operator are only creating tickets.

- Airtel offers 50% of all purchased bundles. I have bought maybe a 100GB so far. Received 0GB on the offer...

- if I measure data usage with my phone, it seems that Airtel is double speeding... Sometimes, I use 500 MBs but Airtel deducts 1 GB....

This is crazy. Airtel should be hold responsible for their behavior. Customers should be aware of them. Better use Safaricom. Their service is more expensive, but with all these tricks and stealing, Airtel anyways steals the difference from you!

You want your customers to be honest…

You want your customers to be honest but for Airtel to be dishonest is fine. This is what I mean: if my monthly plan expires on the 17th you cut off my service at end of the 16th day of the month, which means on the 17th day my service is already expired. And when I renew my services on the 17th my services expires on the 16th which means my service will again be cut off at the end of the day of 15th. And if renew my services on the 15th, my service will end at the 14th day and so and so on. Each month my service plan is being cut short 24 hrs. So for example if Airtel is stealing data and airtime to its 1 million customers in kenya each month how much is Airtel making extra in this respect. If this is not dishonest and cheating what else would you call it. They think people are not intelligent enough to know their tricks.
