1 star for jewellery quality

1 star for jewellery quality, 5 stars for their free repair service. My plume wist ring broke on the shank on the hallmark punch. It is an incredibly skinny ring, and now I've learned a bit more about jewellery production I honestly think it's irresponsible to sell rings in 18k with such a slim shank. Daily wear bent it out of shape and broke it within weeks. Anyway, sent the ring to them (they paid for a label) and luckily they judged it as not an issue on my end, repaired and sent back for free. It's beautiful but scared to wear it now!

Disapointing - mispresented jewlery close to fraud

I was really looking forward to receiving the stud earrings and accepted the rather high price. When I received them, they fell out of the box – they hadn't even been properly packaged. And the size is disappointing! The diameter is not even the stated 5 mm. The photos on the website are taken with a macro lens, which makes the earrings look bigger than they are in real life. They are 3.78mm in diameter including the sapphire setting. It looks like a flyspeck. And the expected material is about 20% less sapphire stone and gold used by the manufacturer. In addition, no photos of the stud earrings being worn were shown on the website, which made it difficult to assess the size. In real life, the socket is barely visible to the bare eye and it is not clear whether these are actually the earrings shown in the photo. Even though they are beautiful, they are not worth £700 (price including shipping and customs). I will only keep them because importing them to Germany was so complicated and expensive, and I don't have the time or inclination to go through the return process. I feel cheated and will certainly not buy expensive jewelry online again.

Beautiful jewellery and fantastic team!

Me and my fiance had our hearts set on a bespoke Alex Monroe engagement ring, but we had a limited budget. The AM team gave us lovely suggestions on how to customise their designs in order to fit our budget and achieve that bespoke element, and we are absolutely in love with the ring! The design and craftsmanship are absolutely beautiful, and the team made the experience so so special. Their pieces are truly special and I cannot wait to choose the wedding rings!

Avoid at all costs

Baby bee necklace snapped after just 8weeks. They said it’s down to wear and tear, I’ve had other necklaces for years and this has never happened. They want to charge £20 plus postage to replace it, oh and that will take 4 weeks! Necklace was expensive and thought I’d be getting brilliant quality. I was wrong! Wish I’d read the reviews on here before purchasing. Stunning jewellery but not well made for the money you pay. Avoid at all costs.

Godawful service.

Ordered a birthday gift on a next day service.

Alex Munroe couldn't be bothered to send it, and when I contact their customer service, I get a pointless twee little autoreply saying that their "Busy Little Bees" will aim to respond in 2 days.

Why bother to offer a next day service if you:

1. Have no intention of fulfilling it
2. Don't employ enough tedious little "Bees" to respond until 2 days after the "next day" delivery was due.

Pointless, crap service. Avoid.

Don't do it

My husband bought me the Beekeepers solid 18K gold bracelet for Christmas at £1,800. He saved for some time and this was going to be such a treat. I opened it on the big day only to find a flimsy little bracelet (which I found out to be Faith Hope and Charity). You can imagine my disappointment, and his. Then came the, what can only be described as a performance, of returning the item and obtaining a refund. Of course, the company was closed for some time after Christmas and we were left to worry for some time as to how or whether we would get this large amount of money back. When someone eventually did get back, there was no apology - simply a question as to whether we had had a nice Christmas. No, we did not. The whole process of returning the item and the wait for the refund required effort and more worry. We had to speak to so many different people it was ridiculous. As for whether we wished to have another sent to us, this wasn't really suggested at any time. In any case, based on the frightful quality of Faith, Hope and Charity which would break on one wearing, I wouldn't bother. Keep your hard earned money or spend it on something worthwhile would be my suggestion.

On my third bee necklace

On my third bee necklace. Glutton for punishment! All chains have broken. They are so flimsy. I would be happy if the bee could just slide off the chain and be placed on a sturdier one from elsewhere but it can’t. Also, I only had this recent one for 2 months and they received it back to replace the chain, and tried to charge me for re-plating the bee too. A standard email advising me to do it, with a link to payment. Beggars belief.

I have bought the bee necklace twice…

I have bought the bee necklace twice and each time different problems. The first one lost its coating and had to be redone. The second one the chain broke after 2 days of wearing from new. The process of return or repair is long winded and they are reluctant to refund you. The design is lovely but the quality and wearability is poor. I am giving up on what should be a very good company but ultimately sadly frustrating.

Sarah saved the day!!

Through my own fault I thought I had ruined a new pair of Flying Bee Earrings. Gutted!!! I sent the earrings to Customer Service. Sarah was really outstanding....she kept me informed, repaired the problems and sent them back to me. Alex Monroe are a considered investment, but I don't believe you can't find nicer designed jewellery, with better customer service anywhere else!!

Amazing craftmanship and design, but fragile and flimsy

I bought myself a limited edition 18k gold beekeeper garden ring with an unusual pale bright blue sapphire from Alex Monroe in Autumn 2022.

The quality of craftmanship and design are excellent, the customer service is remarkable. I get my ring resized and shipped in no time, the team helped with custom issues from UK to EU. The design is really soulful and unique, which is what I'm looking for in small independent jewellers.

The negative point is that the ring band is barely 1 mm width, making it really flimsy and fragile. For a piece of everyday jewelry that could be a huge life milestone, this ring sadly might not last a lifetime. I do wish Alex Monroe design team would put more emphasis on durability and make the ring's band wider to about 2 mm.

In the end I think Alex Monroe might worth a splurge for a whimsical piece you'll wear every now and then for a year or two that you don't expect to last. I do not recommend the brand for any piece you want to expect to last.

Purchased two pieces - warning do not buy jewellery

Purchased two pieces, lost one because chain snapped. Second piece I almost lost as yet again chain snapped . Contacted company who told me to send back (at my cost) even though only had it a few months. Advised this because they would need to examine chain to see if it was my fault ! Surely a chain should be robust enough so that even if it is stressed it won’t snap. Nice pieces of jewellery but crap chain and poor customer services, slow to dispatch and slow to respond to emails.

Great customer experience

Sent my beloved bee pendant for repair after I broke its wing. I contacted AM and was given a quote for £50 to repair with £30 to re-plate it. I agreed and was sent the mailing instructions. The repair time is 6-8 weeks as items are handmade and I guess the impact of covid but I was kept in the loop at all times. Just before the bee was sent back to me I received a call from AM stating they had accidentally overcharged me and could they refund me the £30! They also confirmed that my item had been sent and when it would be delivered. Great, quality, customer service!
