Extremely disappointing – cancelled my appointment 24 hours before my wedding anniversary
I booked and paid a £70 deposit on 2 June 2026, more than two months in advance, for a home makeup appointment on Sunday 9 August 2026 at 12pm. This was not an ordinary appointment — it was specifically for my 30th wedding anniversary, an important occasion that I had been planning for a long time.
Then, on 8 August — just 24 hours before my appointment and on the eve of my anniversary — I was informed that they could “no longer do that time.” No meaningful explanation was provided and, despite having had my booking and deposit for over two months, I was left scrambling at the very last minute to find another makeup artist.
I find this completely unacceptable and incredibly unprofessional. If a customer had cancelled at such short notice, I imagine the business would have expected its cancellation policy to be followed. Yet when the business cancels on the customer with less than 24 hours' notice, what protection does the customer receive?
The timing made this particularly distressing. I was already under considerable pressure preparing for such an important milestone, and instead of being able to look forward to my anniversary, I was left worrying about whether I could find someone to do my makeup at such short notice.
My £70 deposit was taken two months beforehand, my appointment was confirmed, and I relied on that booking being honoured. Cancelling the day before, after having had months to manage your diary, is simply not good enough.
I am writing this review because I believe potential customers should know about my experience before paying a deposit and placing their trust in this business for an important occasion. If your appointment is for a wedding, anniversary, birthday or other significant event, I would think very carefully about relying on this business unless you are confident that your booking will actually be honoured.
For me, the issue isn't simply that they couldn't provide the appointment. It is the extremely short notice, the lack of a proper explanation, and the complete disregard for the fact that I had booked and paid two months in advance for an important occasion.
A booking is a commitment on both sides. Unfortunately, on this occasion, I don't feel that commitment was respected
