Rented a self-drive from Amigo for 6 days in Mauritius (Sep 2026) - smooth throughout.
Pickup was excellent: rep met us at the airport, office 5 minutes from the terminal, paperwork and inspection done in 10. No deposit, only passport details taken.
The Perodua Bezza was in good condition and ran reliably all week. One flat tyre mid-week, spotted before setting out and sorted quickly - otherwise zero issues, and the return was quick and easy.
Overall: efficient pickup, reliable car, hassle-free return. Would rent again.

I was very pleased with the service provided by Amigo Car Rental during my stay in Mauritius. Upon arrival, a member of the Amigo team collected me from the airport and drove me to their office, which is located about 10 minutes away. The check‑in process was straightforward: I completed the usual paperwork, inspected the vehicle, and received a car with a full tank of fuel.
Driving in Mauritius is similar to the UK, but I would advise being extra cautious — some drivers tend to drive fast and change lanes without signalling.
I returned the vehicle with a full tank and paid an additional ₨500 (around £8) for a wash, as the car was white and had picked up some dust. The team then dropped me off at the airport for my return flight.
Overall, the service was smooth, reliable, and friendly. I would happily use Amigo Car Rental again on my next trip to Mauritius.

We booked a car months in advance…
We booked a car months in advance through Economy Car Rentals for 02 January 2026, subcontracted to Amigo Car Rentals in Mauritius. Clear instructions stated a representative would meet us in the arrivals hall holding a sign with my name. No one arrived.
We waited at the airport on a public holiday with no phone signal and no communication. A local individual kindly tried calling Amigo multiple times and warned us that they have a very poor local reputation. Only after accessing airport Wi-Fi and repeatedly calling and messaging Amigo via WhatsApp did someone respond — more than an hour after arrival.
When a representative eventually arrived:
No apology was offered
We were taken to their depot
Staff were rude, dismissive, and confrontational
I was told that due to my dissatisfaction, they were refusing to issue the vehicle
We were then taken back to the airport at approximately 20:30 on a Friday evening, effectively abandoning us with luggage during high season. Rental prices elsewhere were four times higher, leaving us stranded after a long international flight.
The Amigo staff member explicitly stated he did not care about negative reviews or reporting this to Economy Car Rentals.
This experience was stressful, humiliating, and entirely avoidable. I question why Economy Car Rentals partners with a provider that operates in this manner.

We thank you for your review and would like to clear few things that you've mentioned that are completely irrelevant to what happened on the 02/01/2026.
As per the rental voucher, there should be someone waiting for you in the arrival hall that's completely true but there was no one when you came out we agree; the reason being like my colleague explained to you we had several clients on the same flight, so he was driving one by one by the shuttle to the office.
'You are saying that you waited for more than one hour before we responded' – We would like to know how you calculated the waiting time as your flight (MK 852) from SA landed at 19:20 p.m on the 02/01/2026 at the Mauritius Airport and the first message you sent via whatsapp was at 20:17 p.m and just after that you called us at 20:18 p.m; I personally apologized and told you that my colleague was on the way back to the Airport and that he will meet you in less than 5 minutes.
“IF YOU HAD WAITED FOR ONE HOUR THEN IT MEANS THAT YOU CAME OUT OF THE TERMINAL EVEN BEFORE THE PLANE HAD STOPPED AND YOU DIDN'T GO THROUGH IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS”
Secondly, ' You are claiming that when you arrived at the depot with the agent , the staff were rude, dismissive and confrontational ' - Lets be clear about this part if you can recall, the agent asked you for your passport, driving licence and voucher to complete the procedures to which you replied “ Am only giving you my passport and driving licence, the voucher am not giving it” ; at the same time ' Mohamed ' arrived and apologized again but you were not taking any of it and started talking loudly, saying “ You are a shit company, you are scammers”.
After uttering all these words and trying to intimidate us with bad reviews and other ridiculous comments, our management was informed about the matter and decided to cancel the reservation since before even taking the car you are putting up a scene and did not have any trust in our service.
We did explain to you why we are not giving you the car and dropped you back at the airport so that you can make other arrangements from Car rental companies at the Airport.
Its an unfortunate situation which you created yourself and now claiming that you were humiliated. Before blaming us, have a good thought of what happened that day (whether you were sober or not) and what you really said & how you behaved towards our staffs who has been working since 6 a.m on that day attending more that 20 clients.
NB: “ WE HAVE ALL THE EVIDENCES MESSAGES, CALL LOGS, VIDEO / AUDIO FOOTAGE OF WHAT REALLY HAPPENED AT THE OFFICE” Unfortunately Trust Pilot doesn't allow us to post them, otherwise same would have been posted for others to know who is of good faith.
We end by saying this to you, we love what we do and many foreigners have enjoyed our services; we've been in the rental industry since 2009 and we know that we will be here for many more years by God's Grace.
