No returns? Uncomfortable and bulbous.
I was really excited for this product. I hate the way helmets look and feel and this seemed to be targeted for exactly that. This is literally just a helmet with a thin beanie over it. It is insanely uncomfortable and looks nothing like a beanie. Like any normal product, I assumed i could just return it only to go to their website to find out they don't accept returns. Not really surprised based on the disappointment most people must feel after getting one. The helmet even comes with a piece of paper addressing the fact that you'll find it uncomfortable, but that you should keep it anyways. Greta idea, and I have no doubts on their safety and design, but bad execution and not accepting returns says everything you need to know, especially when they DO accept exchanges for size.
Excellent product AND customer service
Besides the fact I've experienced the product to provide good climate between -5 and -25 centigrade, while fitting like a glove, I wanted to give a special shout out to the customer support team. Got very helpful responses within an hour or so. Keep rocking guys.
A too long, but truly from the heart review of the A2 non-Newtonian based safety Snow Helmet
Hi Snow lovers. Heads up, I word vomit way too much of my experienced information during reviews, but it might help someone with the same thoughts about sizing. Also, the date of experience is January 22, 2024, but Trustpilot needs it to be within 12 months.
I love the Anti-Ordinary team, and my A2. The only advice I have is to size down if you are in between sizes. I got the medium, and it fits and works, but a size small would have fit me too 😅 I would consider it wiser to size down if you are in between sizes. They have added that info to the website now anyways, as the helmet adjusts over time just like a snowboard boot. I ordered the helmet to ship to Canada, but lived in Germany already at that point. My dad brought it to me too late for an exchange, which is why I kept the medium, and it has still been keeping my head safe for the past 2 seasons. It does move about a bit though. But I am STILL very happy with my purchase!
I wanted to wear a separate beanie underneath the helmet as I get cold easily, so medium seemed like the right choice at the time… but to be honest, it gets too warm with extra layers. The merino based outer beanie does a fantastic job keeping your head the right temperature, and minimizing sweat
when on the go. I don’t mind the helmet looking a bit more obviously like a helmet in the larger (medium) size, as the safety data blows competitors out of the water. Still, I think I will buy myself a size small fairly soon, not just for the better look, but also for the better fit. I would assume that it being tighter on the head is better over it being looser. I know a few people online have complained about how the helmet can look on their head, depending on size and head shape/size. But, that’s usually the people who have not even ever held an A2. Judging it without the proper experience to do so. Complainers are the backbone of the internet, after all. Where would we be if we didn’t have people putting everyone and everything down regularly… 😂
But, just in case, if you want to make a purchase, triple check your head size. You can do this with a string and then using a measure tape to measure the straight string on a flat surface; if you don’t have a measuring band (from sewing kit). But definitely triple check your head size. And plan to receive the helmet soon to try it on so that your perfect fit guarantee stays intact. You can also send the A-O team your measurements and your concerns, and they will support the whole process.
Leading me to talk about customer support; the customer service team is awesome. Always very kind and quick in their response, and supportive of your plights. Their Newsletter is also great, and keeps us up to date. Despite being a start up, that has likely faced extreme expenses in R&D (relatable for me, so I truly need to point this fact out), they have been supporting their community as best as they can. Tip a lifty is an example of this, where some proceeds of each sale went to support mountain staff.
Do yourself a favor and read all of the safety data they have made available. There are also multiple articles available from outside sources who have ranked the helmet high up on the list of best helmets for safety. There is plenty of places to research if you have any questions left, or ask them directly. I believe there is a charge if you return a helmet fully, so keep that in mind. It might be worth asking customer service if they have any upcoming ways for you to try a helmet on locally before deciding. I hope the company has a chance to go to certain mountain resorts for demos.
Lastly, the price… the helmet is far more expensive to produce before of the complexity of the build, and yet they are in the same range as helmet companies that are “well-known”, and massively profitable. Anti-Ordinary is doing their best to keep brains unscrambled. Give them a chance 💚
Misleading return policy - European consumer rights ignored
**UPDATE (11/12/2025)**
To clarify: I never claimed to be a customer, nor did I claim to have been denied a refund. This review concerns their publicly stated return policy, not a product experience—which is entirely appropriate for a platform that helps consumers make informed decisions.
Following this review, Antiordinary did contact me, stating they "discourage reliance on change of mind returns due to environmental harm." I appreciate the environmental concern, but this doesn't address the legal issue.
As of today, their FAQ page still states: "We do not offer 'change of mind' refunds."
EU Directive 2011/83/EU is unambiguous: consumers have the right to cancel online purchases within 14 days "without providing any justification"—this is explicitly called the "cooling-off period." The law doesn't permit sellers to discourage, condition, or exclude this right based on environmental philosophy or purchase intent.
The company claims their policies "comply with global legislation" and go "over and above what is required by EU law." These two statements cannot both be true while their website simultaneously states they don't offer change-of-mind refunds—which is precisely what EU law guarantees.
I'm glad to hear they honour returns in practice. However, publishing a policy that contradicts consumer protection law—regardless of actual enforcement—is misleading to European customers who may not know their statutory rights.
My original concern stands: the publicly stated policy contradicts EU law. European consumers should be aware of their rights.
**ORIGINAL REVIEW**
I attempted to contact Antiordinary multiple times regarding their return policy, specifically asking whether they comply with European consumer protection laws that guarantee the right to return goods within 14 days of purchase with full refund. Despite several attempts to reach out, they have never responded to this legitimate question.
Their stated policy of "We do not offer 'change of mind' refunds" directly contradicts EU consumer rights legislation, which mandates that consumers have the right to cancel online purchases within 14 days without having to justify their decision. This is not a "change of mind" policy - it's a legal requirement across the European Union.
It's concerning that a company continues to market and sell products to European customers while apparently refusing to honor basic consumer protection rights that are legally required. The lack of response to direct inquiries about legal compliance is unprofessional and raises serious questions about their business practices.
For European customers: be aware that this company may not honor your statutory right to return goods as required by EU law.

Only helmet I've ever worn
I've skiing for 50 yrs, never worn a helmet, didn't believe they offered effective protection. Saw the research from AntiOrdinary & ordered 1 then next day. Wore it last season, so comfortable but the best thing was coming in & people saying " is that a beanie helmet?" & being able to show & explain how good they are. Looking forward to seeing more on the snow this season
Lifetime fan and supporter of Anti Ordinary
I have been following and supporting this brand since they were a Kickstarter before the pandemic. I am impressed by their mission to improve helmet safety, as well as their commitment to the customers. While they face growing pains as any innovative company navigating product development and global distribution, Rob and team make sure to always do right by the customer while promising to guarantee the safest helmet you'll find on the mountain. The design improvements from the A1 to A2 are amazing, and I can't wait to continue this journey with them, with the A3 and beyond!
The A2 is great
The A2 is great! Have had a hard time finding a headprotection that i feel confident in. Always felt a little bit silly and uncomfortable in my previus helmets! After wearing the A2 a few days to let it set i dont even think about it anymore. Its awesome!
Great feedback/help from customer servic aswell.
Thank you Rod and crew for inventing the beaniehelmet!
Legit Helmet, Easy Size Exchanges
Pros:
* I'm confident the helmet is legit, as it's ranked #2 in the 2025 snow sports helmet ratings in VirginiaTech's helmet lab
* If you get the wrong size, the team will do a free exchange. I got an L, but it was a bit too big (there's a big enough gap in the back where I can fit my fingers through). Alycia responded and did a free exchange to an M!
Cons:
* It does look a bit silly at first, especially if you don't have goggles on. But with goggles, the helmet's shape isn't as noticeable. I do still like the vibes of having a beanie on top.
* Adjustment isn't as easy as traditional helmets (the ones where you tighten with the dial). You need to take off the beanie and adjust a strap, then put it back on.
* They don't do returns, but they make that very clear when you're about to buy the helmet. Make sure you want it, and make sure your head size is not outside all of their size offerings

Overall, I'm liking it so far. I'm always happy to see it when a small business genuinely tries something new in the field.
Amazing helmet, responsive company
I've had nothing but great experiences with this company. I bought the helmet in January 2024 and the updated outer in October of 2024. Both times the company was amazing with communication. The helmet is comfortable, customizable, and insanely safe, rating in the top two helmets out of all helmets tested by Virginia Tech. Any time I had questions, they got back to me relatively quickly and answered every time. I had one issue with an extra outer missing from my order and they not only replaced the missing outer but doubled it so I got two instead of just the one they missed. Top notch customer service and an amazing product!
Took a bet on the A2 helmet and was very happy
Decided to try the A2 helmet after seeing ads on IG about it. I was very happy with my purchase and the support from the team, which allowed me to order a different size very quickly to be able to compare the fit and confirm the correct one. What I like the most is that it is very lightweight and yet super robust: I took a few bad falls in the snowpark with it and the helmet withstood all impacts without any issue. I'm very happy to recommend it and gladly leave a positive review to help promote the brand (which I don't very often do).
Comfy, safe, great looking. Totally sick
Best looking, highest quality and safety helmet out there. Got mine with a Volcom outer and it looks totally sick. A bit expensive but what price do you put on protecting your bonce while looking so damn cool.
Great company - great customer support!
Awesome experience. I ordered my A2 helmet and had a few problems finding the correct size at first, because my head seams to be exactly in between two sizes. Customer support was very friendly, responded very fast and was super helpful. They totally worked with me to find a solution. I absolutely recommend them.
I understand why others are upset, but I totally appreciate the way Antiordinary handles returns. They are very helpful and co-operative when it comes to exchanges of damaged or non-fitting products, but they do not support returns, when helmets are just ordered to be tried on and returned because of their look. Thanks for that! There's already to much goods being shipped around the world. Let's work together on preserving the snow for our favorite sport.
I honestly love the A2 helmet
I honestly love the A2 helmet, i use it just about every session when im in the park. I used to be so anti helmet up until I tried the A2,, gives me the feeling of safety aswell as confidence when sending it..(knowing that even if I take a fall smacking my head be the least of my worries)
Awesome experience, great helmet!
I had an awesome experience, from start to finish!
The shopping experience was really nice, AO did a great job on content, education and making everything really clear.
The unboxing experience was really awesome, amazing packaging, and the welcome video was really helpful!
Customer service was super on-point when I needed help with sizing- friendly, helpful and went above-and-beyond to get me what I needed!
The helmet itself is super light, comfy, and I just love wearing it. Yes, it looks kind of strange when I tried it on inside, but with my jacket on, goggles, and the real-life context of actually boarding, it looks great, in my opinion.
Above all, the people at this company are awesome, and genuinely care about the customer, the product, and the sport! I'm glad that I pulled the trigger on making this purchase, and have been telling my friends all about it too!
Highly recommended!
Very, very good! The helmet is extremely comfortable, and it's super easy to adjust. Highly recommended!
As an oldtimer who grew up with riding…
As an oldtimer who grew up with riding snowboard without a helmet this is the perfect way to be protected and still have the feel of a beanie .
Difficult to return and no refund received
As with many reviews here, when I tried it on, it just looked silly on me. After quoting European law they agreed to let me return it, but no money received from them yet. I am an entrepreneur myself and love to support smaller companies but it is organisations like this who give small independents a bad name. Avoid.
Great service and product
Rob, Alycia, and Pip responded to my socmed dms within 24hrs and replied to my email that ended up in their junk folder within an hour of socmed correspondence, even though they were preparing to hunker down for the impending cyclone off the coast of Brisbane. They had me rewatch the utube video since I forgot how to adjust the helmet straps under the beanie. Wonderfully patient team willing to help every step of the way.
The helmet looks a little goofy under the beanie, but my amateur self thinks it works well since I tend to fall backwards more often right now. I came out with fewer signs of whiplash after my last two weekends on spring slush and hard ground (can y'all make knee guards?). Their stellar third-party testing results from Virginia Tech prompted me to get it since I was on the market for a new helmet after my hand-me-down fell apart.
I lent my helmet to two other friends on separate occasions, and they told me the helmet was super comfy and they'd consider buying it for themselves as well!
I really like the helmet
I really like the helmet. A little Strange at First, but now it is great. Fits perfectly and I feel Secure when I wear it. And great customer support at all times.
Very nice product 👌
Very nice product 👌
The helmet is perfect and it’s comfortable and it looks really nice and you feel really safe with it. The welcome package was great and the video instructions was really helpful to adjust your helmet the best way. I can’t wait until next season to put it on again.
