Great gadget (when it works)

I really like this device but I don't find myself using it much,

I bought two of these devices via the kickstarter campaign.

I only ever bothered to set one up because it wasn't hugely successful and I tend to reach for the regular remote control, knowing that it will work every time.

I find this product very erratic. Some days all of the commands will work but most days its about 60-70%.

I spent ages creating my own set of remotes only to find some of them disappeared when they updated the app.

Unfortunately, rather than working to get the product right, they have discontinued the hardware and now focus on software for phones that have in built infrared diodes (sorry folks, that does not include the iPhone). A bizarre and seemingly short-sighted step, effectively reducing their potential market drastically and leaving all of their current customers completely high and dry.

Sadly this is what happens when very clever hobbyists try to run a business.

What a waste of time and money! I p …

What a waste of time and money! I purchased from the website with free shipping to the UK. I assumed that the price in pounds included VAT. Big mistake as it cost me another £23 in customs charges.

Nevertheless after waiting nearly a month for delivery, I was anxious to try it out. The Android smart remote app is buggy and next to useless. There was no support for my Humax box, or my Sony sound system. My TV wasn't listed but a general Samsung worked but no smart button or apps etc. Still undeterred, I tried the Virgin Tivo and it sort of works but no back button. Try to re-assign a back button and you have two listed and neither works .

By comparison my Logitech Harmony is a dream. Even my HTC phone outperformed this badly programmed software using the Universal remote app.

In short buy something else. I wanted this to use with Amazon Echo but it easier to go without than put up with rubbish software. I will find an alternative that doesn't require a permanent Bluetooth connection and software that works.
