I would honestly give zero stars if I…

I would honestly give zero stars if I could.

I’ve owned my Applethwaite home for almost two years and the aftercare has been extremely disappointing.

Many defects have taken months to resolve, with some issues left outstanding for over a year.

I’ve had to chase repeatedly for updates, and contractors often turn up without any notice, despite me asking several times for appointments to be confirmed.

Applethwaite frequently tell me issues are “fixed” when they aren’t, and several defects present before completion were dismissed and I was told to “go to NHBC” instead of them taking responsibility.

Some items took over 3 months to get any action, and communication has been inconsistent throughout.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend Applethwaite. Other builders like Persimmon or Taylor Wimpey have been far more reliable for friends and family. AVOID THIS DEVELOPER LIKE THE PLAGUE UNLESS YOU WANT TWO YEARS OF STRESS AND ANXIETY DEALING WITH INCOMPETENCE.

Location

I was born in my old house more than 60 years ago & lived there all my life. I hadn’t thought about moving until my family & friends mentioned it. When I started this journey it seemed a long road ahead but Edwin (site rep) was so supportive to me & my friends as have everyone on site making the process easier. The amenities are close at hand & with nice country walks from my front door.The aftercare is good with someone to take care of most of the snags. With less than 2 weeks it already feels like home & couldn’t ask for a better location to call home.

So Far, So Good with Applethwaite

A largely positive experience from start to finish. We’ve recently moved into a new build on the Meadow View development in Worsthorne. Site sales rep Louise has been friendly and helpful throughout. House was very clean on picking up the keys on moving day with only a very few issues and with surprise welcome pack. Any snagging issues or queries have been addressed quickly and in a friendly manner. Site manager Pete is a star, pleasant to deal with, good communicator and delivers great customer care as do all the contractors. We love our new home and the location.

Where do I start

Where do I start
I’m going to keep this brief
Having moved in on the hillside development in Loveclough Rossendale just before Christmas 2025 my new build was absolutely filthy no one had been bothered to try and clean the property and I mean the whole property bathroom,kitchen lounge bedrooms all left in a state water running on the new floors after turn a tap on radiator not level painting that had been done with out any care doors not closing kitchen extraction not working and 7 months later still not working induction job not been wired correctly which I only found out after Bosch came out to look at
These are only a snap shot what is wrong
Outside shoddy brick work bricks with large chips then just pointed over garden totally not level
I’ve had there new md out and apparently it’s mostly within building tolerance 😂😂
I’m I totally displeased with Applethwaite homes
I’m just one of many disappointed customers that after 7 months is still waiting to have my new home snagged
Ps if your a snagger with no work on get up here there’s a mountain of work

Where concerns have been assessed, these will have been reviewed in accordance with the NHBC Standards and the requirements of the New Homes Quality Code, which set the recognised industry standards for new-build homes.

We appreciate that there may be occasions where our assessment does not align with a customer's expectations. If you feel our decisions have not been fair or you would like an independent review, you are welcome to raise your concerns with the NHBC, who can provide impartial guidance and, where appropriate, an independent assessment.

We visited the new Lunesdale…

We visited the new Lunesdale development in Brookhouse recently.
We were greeted by Andrea the sales person for the site, whose knowledge of the development was excellent. Very helpful lady who went above and beyond to answer our questions and show us around.
The development is only at the early stages, the two show houses were very nice.
Personally we found the 2 bedroom to be too small for our needs, the 3 bedroom is much more spacious, both having lovely views at the rear of the Lune Valley.
The finishes within the properties were excellent.
The only thing we would alter in the 3 bedroom property is the third bedroom, which in our case would be much more usable by redesigning it as a large open plan kitchen/living area to the rear of the property to take in the lovely views!
Going forward this type of development would be of interest to us and we will definitely be looking at any future developments that Applethwaite Homes build in the area.

We went to visit the Lunesdale site at…

We went to visit the Lunesdale site at Brookhouse and have visited Grimsnagh too, I can say the sales team are really helpful, the show bungalows are well thought through and have a lovely flow, room sizes are generous in the 3 beds )which we are interested in), we are hoping to sell our property to proceed with a sale, we will be going back to view again soon.

Loving my new home…

Been in my new Applethwaite bungalow for almost 12 months and love it.
Any issues regarding snagging initially were addressed. Over time one or two issues have cropped up, but I'm sure they'll be dealt with adequately once I report them. Applethwaite allow 2 years from completion to report any further issues.

We purchased a new build property from…

We purchased a new build property from Applethwaite Homes and within weeks of moving in identified a significant number of serious defects, several of which constitute non-compliance with Building Regulations. These include both cosmetic and structural concerns throughout the property.
Despite raising these issues formally and in writing on multiple occasions, responses have been dismissive, issues raised verbally have been ignored and not logged, and we have received no meaningful written responses to specific questions asked.

If you are considering purchasing with this developer — get an independent snagging survey done before you complete. Do not rely on the developer’s own inspection process.

In response:
Regarding access — we work full time and have stated our available days clearly and repeatedly, yet contractors continue to be booked on days we are unavailable. We have taken considerable time off work already to accommodate visits and consider this wholly unreasonable — had the property been completed to the required standard in the first place, none of this would be necessary.

We would also note that the driveway remains incomplete and was not disclosed as such prior to exchange or completion.

We also found it interesting that during a recent visit your own team needed to look up the relevant NHBC standards online using Bing! to establish what is and is not compliant as the print out was mistakenly left behind.

We remain hopeful of a resolution.

However, we do not accept the suggestion that the property suffers from structural defects or non-compliance with Building Regulations. The home was constructed in accordance with the relevant new home warranty standards and the certificate of such approvals required for occupation were achieved.
While we appreciate that any outstanding items can be frustrating, we remain committed to resolving legitimate concerns through our customer care process. To do so, we require reasonable access to the property and will continue to work with you to arrange suitable appointments.
