Quote for new garage

I was looking for a quote for a new garage and submitted online to request one. Chris Sirhall responded in a few days and we went over what I was needing in size, # of doors, # windows, height etc. A little while later he called back with a quote and went over everything that it entailed then emailed it to me. He gave me time to look it over and was very good to work with. When we are ready to buy we will definitely give him a call.

deceptive sales practice

One start is too many. We contacted them in October of 2020, sent them our drawings, and got a quote. Their sales rep told us that if we sign a contract and pay a down payment of 48K dollars for the total contracted price of 119K, we would lock in the price and our cost would not go up next year due to any increases in the cost of steel. We said ok, paid the deposit, and signed the contract. They were very helpful and even gave us the name of a local builder with experience with the company and metal buildings. We began meeting with the builder, and put him in touch with Armstrong, and got our drawings approved early the following year. Then we were told that there were other projects in front of ours and they kept delaying and ghosting us. It became very hard to get any answers from anyone at the company. We kept asking for answers, but all they said was that they have other projects, and they will let us know when they were ready. Meanwhile we had to pay our contractor to stick around and not leave. We paid for engineering of the building, and put a well on the property and paid for septic design. We took out a construction loan because we wanted to be ready to move as soon as armstrong would give us our building. Now it is Nov, two or three days before Thanksgiving. We got a call from the VP of sales at Armstrong, and she told us that our project was finally ready to go to fabrication and could be ready by feb or march of 2022, but we needed to pay an extra 307K dollars on top of what our contracted price was. We were floored at this and could not believe that they had dragged us along for a full year only to hit us with this cost increase, which they blamed on the pandemic. She told us that she has had to make these calls to many other clients and it is very sad but it is unusual times and they have no choice but to pass the cost to us. Since then we have found so many victims that have gone through the exact same situation. It appears that they know there is a clause in their contract that makes it very expensive for common folks to fight them, The Arbitration Clause in Colorado, so they think they can get away by selling buildings they have not intention of delivering. So they keep taking deposits, and making people walk away from their deposits because they can't afford the price increase. If you read the reviews, they have done this since 2015. DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND READ THE REAL REVIEWS. FIND A STEEL COMPANY LOCAL TO YOUR AREA, BECAUSE WE DID AND GOT THE SAME BUILDING FOR LESS THAN WHAT THEY HAD QUOTED US IN 2020, AND HAD IT DELIVERED IN 4 MONTH FROM DESIGN APPROVAL. WE ARE NOT DONE WITH THIS COMPANY YET. CONSUMERS HAVE RIGHTS.

Amazing service from Chris Sirhall

I have been working with Chris at Armstrong Steel for a couple months now. We are just starting our process and he has been patient with me since day 1. Along with his patience he has always responded to me promptly and with all the information I inquire about and then some! We haven't even began our building process and he has earned us as a lifelong client. I am excited to see how the rest of the process unfolds for us working with Chris and Armstrong Steel.

WORSE THAN A SLEAZY USED CAR LOT

Where is the option for NO STAR? Armstrong is worse than a sleazy used car dealership. At least at that car lot you actually leave with something you could at least scrap out. My husband and I signed a contract for a 30' x 80' metal building. We put +$15k for the deposit back in March 2021. Armstrong goes MIA for NINE MONTHS until November 2021 when we receive our preliminary drawings. We were verbally told we would get our building the first of the new year. Negative. The only thing we received at the new year was an additional +$52k in miscellaneous material price increases. A building we signed for at $40k is now over $90k and still no delivery date. It's been OVER A YEAR and still no resolution.

Hi Jenica, we appreciate you taking the time to write some feedback for us.

Price increases and unpredictable lead times have been an unfortunate side effect of a few major factors, including the events of 2020 and the pandemic. Right around the time you purchased your building, the entire steel industry was about to experience an unprecedented material shortage, the likes of which has never been seen before, and due to incredible demand during a time before anyone knew it would be so bad, some tough cases like yours occurred. We always do our best to absorb price fluctuations, but this has been an incredibly difficult year to navigate for all of us. We sincerely apologize for the reality of the situation; we have since improved our communication standards and will do our best to help with your situation if we possibly can.

If you would like to discuss further, please call or email me at 1-800-345-4610 or ClientAdvocate@armstrongsteel.com to get in touch with any additional feedback or concerns. Armstrong Steel is a terrible company

Armstrong Steel is a terrible company. The first thing they did is the way they got me online. They did a Black Friday sale. So, it tells you you're almost gonna get $4,000 off. Based on that price, it comes out really cheaper than everybody else. When you do it, you don't really get the details of everything because they said, "Oh, project manager will give you the details of everything." When you sign up for it, on the bottom, it tells you, you have 30 days to figure out all the details to keep the Black Friday's pricing. So, I got that. Two weeks went by, there still was nothing. I did it on Black Friday, which was around Thanksgiving.

I've called a couple times and said, "Project manager hasn't called me. I already lost two weeks." They said, "No, no. He'll be there." I lost about two weeks out of the 30 days. Then once I started dealing with the project manager, I realized that an extra door was an added cost, the side door was an added cost, and everything was nickel-and-diming. It ended up being a lot more. I was still trying to find the details of everything, and within that four weeks, my project manager was gone one weekend because her grandkid was born. Then another time, she had a stroke. Within those 30 days, I was asking questions. Right after they sent me something, I lost a day because they had to come back the next day.

The last of my final 30-day deadline was on a Sunday. I had the email saying on Friday, "Hey, make sure that you get the correct detail. The space between the doors must be five feet. So, please have that on the final paperwork so I could sign off on it." It says if you sign off and you don't have the correct details of it, you're stuck with that. So, that was me on a Friday. Magically, Sunday came and went, and on Monday morning I went, "Oh, okay, I'll do it." They sent it to me on Tuesday. A month and a half later was when I found out, "Oh no, no. You passed your 30 days. So, this is the normal price." So, I got stiffed for another four grand there.

COVID came into play, but we passed the deadline by another five weeks. When the parts got delivered, they give you five days to tell them if there's anything missing. The way they pack this stuff is so tight. You have to take everything because everything's sandwiched on top of each other. And if you take it out, you expose everything to the elements if there's been a break. Come to find out when I finally finished everything up, four pieces are missing. I called them up and they said, "Oh, well, you pass the five days. So, now we gotta charge you." So, for four pieces of metal that are probably a double size of a toaster oven, they charged me $75 shipping from Colorado to Arizona because I didn't let them know five days when I originally got the piece.

I was pissed off. I went on Reddit, and everybody has the same thing. They give you five days, and then they charge you outright. So, everything that happened to me was exactly everything was for everybody based on the reviews. I've talked to their manager, (rhymes with Jade). The guy is worthless. I got screwed out of $200 for shipping that I had to pay in parts that they didn't put in there. I got screwed $4,000 because their project manager sat on it for a few weeks, and then she couldn't get me the information early enough, and the whole thing, going back and forth with her about pricing.

I had to order a lot of parts outside the company because their pricing was outrageous. The problem with the company is on that initial, their salesperson said, "Oh, yeah. You're gonna get 40x60 building. Yeah, this is it, $22,000." I asked, "Well what about the door?" "No, no. You'll talk about that with the project manager." There was no mention that those things are gonna cost extra. They make it sound like, "This is the price. You just gotta tell the project manager where the door is gonna be."

Too bad they don’t respond to this review.

Excellent Customer Service

The representative, Chris Sirhall at Armstrong Steel has been very responsive the several times I have talked to him. He has given me answers to my many questions, several quotes on some options I am working out, and has a thorough explanation of the process and products. No other metal building company has been this responsive, helpful, and purely willing to help me.

Bait and Switch

Take note that nearly all of the 5 star reviews this company gets are from people that are just looking into a building, not people that have actually done business with them. Most 1 star reviews are from an actual customer who has been financially damaged by this company. I personally paid a $7k downpayment for a steel building through them February of 2021. I got a great deal so I thought because "they had purchased a large lot of steel at a good price". So you can imagine my surprise when I get a call in November 2021 from them telling me the price is going to double from what we agreed upon in our contract. The reasoning was an out of control steel market that caused prices to rise, not sure how that matters unless the line about a cheap batch of steel was a complete lie. You would assume after refusing the more than doubling of the price I was offered a refund of my deposit right? Wrong, not offered a single penny back and told that the contract says no refunds of deposits. Any questions about my experience, feel free to reach out to me on social media as others have. I may never get my money back but at least I can share my experience with others to possibly keep it from hapening to them!!

He has had to deal with a lot of changes and has happily helped us out and we could not be any more grateful. Conner's helpfulness and willingness to go above an beyond is a big reason for us choosing Armstrong.

Great experience

I want to tell Armstrong how blessed I was having such a qualified, caring, helpful employee, Joshua Arteaga
Building Consultant help me. Joshua took time to help me with a quote for a building I was looking into getting. You see my husband was the decision maker. He and his mom died 3 weeks and 4 days apart each with COVID19 pneumonia last July and August. Then 2 weeks after my husband's death hurricane Ida came through south Louisiana and damaged my house and blew down my husband's shed. Joshua explained everything to me and sent me emails to help me see exactly what he was talking about. I appreciate his time and understanding and knowledge in your company. I had a great experience talking on the phone with him. Thanks again to Joshua Arteaga, I appreciated his patience with me, when I needed it the most. God bless, Sincerely, Julie G

Do not do business with them

If I could give them a negative review I would. Do not do business with this company, run away, far away. They will take your deposit, tell you the building is done but request a significantly larger amount of money due to
“Pricing increases” even though they claimed to have secured your material prior to these increases. Then they refuse your deposit refund because you signed a contract, even though they’re claiming majeure, but only on the portion that benefits them. This company makes me sick. A lot of scamming and there are a lot of other reviews to prove it.

very happy first time customers

I have been looking for metal building manufacturers for quite some time and after a brief call with the Armstrong Steel team, all the questions I had were promptly answered well beyond my satisfaction, and it was extremely easy to go through the process to commission a building. Alexandra Claudio went WAY above and beyond for me in designing the building and then helping troubleshoot all my questions and making what would have been an OK building into an AMAZING building. The local building code threw a massive curveball and she again stepped up to the plate and made all the necessary changes. This is truly an impressive company. Anyone looking for a well-oiled team to put together a gorgeous building at a very reasonable price, look no further. Armstrong Steel will absolutely have my repeat business and I’m already planning our next build.

This place is a scam

This place is a scam. They will take your deposit and youll never get your drawings or structure. The 5 star reviews are fake, paid advertising.
Look up all the lawsuits and read the 1 star reviews to find out the truth.
They will hold you in a endless waiting line until you forfeit the deposits.
They have hidden clauses and terms in their purchase agreements. They sue their employees, their customers and their competitors. They will do anything except provide the service they claim to do. During the purchase they will provide a "rebate" in order to expidite the sale, making you rush to sign the initial document.
They do not honor or take any responsibility of the structure or the options outfitted to the structure after delivery as specified in their terms.
They will intimidate, coerce and extort you out of your money once the deposit is paid and force you through the deal as they ream you out through the entire process.
**in response to Armstrongs reply**
I changed my username, so what? If your company was capable of fulfilling the orders and agreements then i wouldnt be here or any of the other reviewers that state the same thing as i am.
Ive been working with you guys on this for nearly a year now and ive received nothing except excuses and your childish/ insulting reply. I dont want my identity to be public and thats for my own protection and none of your business but i wouldnt expect you guys to comprehend that.
You keep blaming your lack of staff, leadership and ability to fulfill orders on a global issue but thats just an excuse at this point.
Why did your entire engineering department quit?
Why are your project managers quitting?
Ive been in contact with you guys several times over the last year and am continuing to work with you because i want my money back and im done being understanding and patient. At this point you cannot expect me to provide you clowns with any more time or patience. My reviews are legitimate and im writing this to warn others of armstrong being a shady, fly by night company so they dont fall into the same trap so many others have.
You say its malicious, i say its honest. But of course, what you guys are doing to people is seen as righteous in your eyes and anyone that speaks out are liars and haters right? I dont even know how you guys can live with yourselves.
Think about what youre doing man. Think of how many families are being tortured over Armstrongs policies and business practices. You cant provide the structure but keep on selling. Why not refund the people that havent recieved anything after a year? Or did your ceo already spend that money and leave you to run interference against the angry mob.
Your reply has revealed the type of people you are to your customers. The unfulfilled and distraught ones that speak out are bad people right? We are the problem not you right?

**BEWARE OF FAKE REVIEWS**

Hi John/Admonger,

We reached out to you attempting to look deeper into your situation in hopes of helping, but after you deleted and reposted your review under different names, it seems safe to assume that you do not want to be identified and don’t want our help.

These are difficult times and we have done our best to shelter our customers from the inevitable effects of global shortages and failed economic policies. Most of our customers have understood the current state of affairs and have worked with us (as you refuse to do) to reach amicable resolutions where they can be found.

Legitimate reviewers would not refuse assistance this way.

Our reviews are not “paid advertising,” that’s not a thing. We do honor our contracts, we do care and we cannot consider the way you are choosing to portray us as anything short of malicious. Disappointing.

If we have reached this conclusion in error, please feel free to call or email me at 1-800-345-4610 or ClientAdvocate@armstrongsteel.com to get in touch with any additional feedback or concerns.
