Two statues delivered smashed to pieces. Hopelessly inadequate packaging. Disorganized, moronic courier.

charge too much in fees, they had 27% if you are bidding in the room, BUT charge you extra for bidding on the own website which is ridiculous, they did this in the pandemic as well when you couldn't even go to the room, 30.3 % for using Arthur Johnson website surely it should be the same rate as if you was in the room

They sell absolute trash rarely works - ex costco stuff is generally broke - the fees are extortionate use easy live auctions find a decent auction house

How stupid are some people buying bottles of wine from Arthur Johnson Auctions?
"Eight bottles of wine 'Roc De Lussac' (2010) Lussac Saint-Emillion, Grand Vin De Bordeaux, cellar stored"
Hammer - £75 + 30.3% Fees =£12.22 per bottle
Same brand wine on offer at Sainsbury for £11 a bottle less 25% when you buy 6 or more = £8.25 a bottle
Not only cheaper but of more recent vintage and will be actually fit to drink.
Very unlikely that this 15 year old wine in dusty bottles will be even fit to drink!

Sale room 1 has more recently become very disappointing. It appears to be dominated by a clique of sellers who enter the same or very similar items week after week.

However, other individual sellers are often being told their similar items are not suitable.

It feels it’s become less about what you are trying to sell, and more about who you know at the Auction Room.

Astonishingly poor service. Auction room reception staff are always poor when it comes to customer service but these are in a new league. Worst auction house I’ve ever dealt with. Simply our way or no way, no reasoning. Luckily the UK is full of equally established auction rooms.

First Class Experience with Arthur Johnson Auctions.
I deal with many UK auction houses but I can honestly say that Arthur Johnson are in my top 5!
The staff are Exceptional - I have had nothing but friendly help and assistance from everyone (including packing), whenever I have bought from them. A Special mention goes to Kirsty who cannot do enough to help customers. She is a credit to the business.
I recommend them 100% and cannot fault their customer service, speed of delivery and excellent packaging. Do not hesitate to buy or sell with Arthur Johnson.

They make the charges up 25% more like 50% min would not use them in any way got worse charges for now putting a plug in a wall 3.00 robbers

Placed an absentee bid on an item only to receive an email after the auction to tell me I wasn't successful even though my absentee bid was £50 and the hammer came down at £35.Was offered nothing other than a reluctant sorry.Not very happy with my experience!

Brought 5items from them and 3 items were damaged. How are they allowed to sell such utter rubbish. I wouldn't advertise anyone to buy anything electrical. As none of it worked. complete waste of 100 pounds.

This review is mainly about AR's preferred delivery company, R. Removals. I had an item to be delivered to a Third party, and the staff at R. Removals were absolutely amazing. From the first contact through to delivery, they were just a cut above. Fully recommend.

Two out of three lots faulty which is poor, one had a part missing which was obvious but chose not to show on the picture. They should show some diligence on lots.

My husband and I have been going to Arthur Johnson auctions for 20 years and have always had such positive experiences particularly in auction room 3 where they sell high end quality contemporary furniture. The auctioneer is such a lovey man, Jason has a great sense of humour. He clearly has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in this field, whilst always putting people at ease with his light hearted humour. The staff are also very helpful. Today was no exception we purchased a beautiful piece of garden furniture to which we saved several hundred pounds on the retail price. Also having an independent van driver available to transport your goods home is so helpful and reasonably priced to. Before buying from a main furniture retail store I would highly recommend you visit the Arthur Johnson auctioneers website that has all the details you need to know, better still go visit the auction house for yourselves you will not be disappointed.

Disgusting , underhanded and fraudulent.
I did not want my unsold lots put back in the auction and they ignored me, then have the audacity to charge me a fee for them being unsold again.
And don't even get me started on the attitude of the auctioneer in room 1 the other week when they messed someting else up, what an obnoxious rude weasel.
You even think about taking my money i shall be taking legal action.

I have been going to Arthur Johnson’s for many years and have always found them a professional friendly company.
The staff are lovely and helpful right from the girls behind the desk and the staff in the sales rooms.
Going to AJ really is a lovely experience and have had many bargains over the years.
The boys in sale room 1 work very hard and are always willing to help.
I bought a chest of drawers recently and they assisted us greatly.
I thoroughly recommend Arthur Johnson’s to go to and certainly is the best auction house I have ever been to.

The process is easy, from watching the auction to bidding.
I won a piano recently and was not expecting to win it to be honest. As i needed a lorry to collect it, i sourced AnyVan to collect. They did not turn up that day to collect, so i rang the receptionists, who were fantastic, helpful and professional. The next day the driver turned up to collect, i again rang the receptionists and explained. They assured me it was all Ok and not to worry. I know they need these items out the same day for the room for other items, however, they gave me no stress. I have just come off the phone to Max, who rang me back regarding a question i emailed over to Arthur Johnson, he was very knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. Overall experience was excellent, THANK YOU ARTHUR JOHNSON

the staff are great and i love the whole experience of the saturday auctions, been going to the cattle market along with family for 45 years and yes there has been changes with loss of traders outside but the items we have purchased are our choice in a way that some items we are told at each lot number if there is damage or with electrical goods that they may not work,,,

Unfortunately this Auction has gone down hill because of the greed of Arthur Johnson,
25% buyers premium plus vat is outrageous in a recession, its a crying shame because this place was buzzing a few years ago,
I have spoke to some of the side stall traders and they tell me that the prices to set up a pitch for selling has gone up considerably,
Hence most of the traders have disappeared over the past few years, I can name a few Pete the tool man and the guy next to him,
The paint Lady, Cleaver meats have gone.
I suggest Arthur Johnson needs to wake up because their greed is killing the place off

Bid on a lot of two Bosch GBH breaker drills in a case from Arthur Johnson.
Went down to collect later that day, paid and then collected, just as they were closing.
Got home and and opened the case, the breaker drills were in fact just drills. No breaker function on them.
I understand how they have made the mistake in the listing as Bosch do make a breaker drill that looks like their drill. However I don't need two drills, I need two breakers and these are not what Arthur Johnsons claimed them to be.
I am entitled to a refund. This situation is not covered by buyer beware. They have listed an item with it's make a model number and then provided a completely different item.
I contacted them straight away to report this and have chased up since. 3 weeks later they are still blanking me.
I am about to make a claim through Visa against them and will update when this is determined.
