AVOID AT ALL COSTS, they will find any reason to take money off of you.
Cancelled my policy without warning after breaching black box rules which hadn’t been made clear, then charged me for their choice to cancel.
Any emails or attempt to contact them is ignored, and they will prolong any contact so that you miss payment deadlines.
APPALLING COMPANY..DO NOT USE!
Charged £50 for the cancellation of a policy that not only hadn't started but payment had been put through 3 times and showing only a blank screen. Charged over £2200 told will take up to 30 days to return and £50 charge for presumably a software error.
Bought a new car within 6 months of the first year and was able to insure it easily hassle free for a decent price, going from insurance group 2 to 15. In my second year being with them it has now been 1 year and 10 months!! I have always had a very good blackbox score and am I good trustworthy driver which they can see. However upon purchasing a new car being insurance group 22, they can't even change my policy to insure me for the remaining two months of the year. Absolute joke, saying it is too high of an insurance group to insure knowing I'm a safe driver anyway. Useless company
I took out insurance on a saturday and within minutes called to cancel, and phone lines closed, so emailed them instead, they did cancel on the tuesday after taking the money on the monday however i had paid over £300 up front and i had no response to a number emails, the claim they tried calling, when i finally got through after trying to call them, i found i am being charged £50 admin, plus £28 for 14 day cancellation, plus£75 for the black box device but can get £30 back if i return which i am doing, but ultimately it has cost me £123 for the sake of a few minutes!!, they do not consider this to be excessive which is terrible, they allow you to take policy fast but not cancel fast, because they say it is automated and so policy kicks in straight away even though i have evidence of calling within a few minutes and sending email within 10 minutes they still charge in total £123, i would not recommend as this seem to be very unfair cancellation charges, excessive for the required admin and as far as i am concerned bad customer service, we even have evidence of calling straight away but not getting through, i think if they have it automated to implement policy fast then they should have the phone lines available to also cancel immediately! and it is unfair that this is not the case, so by the time you contact hey count that time as bein covered so they can charge you! watch out, i would steer clear, they enforce policy straight away so you are caught out with barely the time to read the policy!!, i was in a rush purchasing a car and will not make this mistake again and never with AURA
There is no online portal where you can log in and view your insurance documents or payment schedule. You cannot change anything online, you must call them and the hours they are open are limited if you work full time.
The agents are all very unhelpful and judgemental if you call them and ask for any sort of financial help. I spoke to a South African or Australian sounding lady and she was very patronising and asked me 4 or 5 times why I didn't have the money and why I wanted to move my payment ahead a couple of weeks, even though I'd explained I had been very ill. She wouldn't listen at all and when I expressed to her that my previous insurance company were much more understanding and helpful, she said 'well that's not how we do things here'. I am highly upset and urge everyone not to take out a policy with this company.
I also had a call once telling me they were going to cancel my insurance policy because they had tracked me and I was staying at my mum's house for a while before she passed away. They weren't even understanding then.
I have just renewed my insurance for the third time with Aura and I have had no problems with them. A reliable, trusty insurance company! I spoke to Lisa today to renew my insurance policy and she was so helpful, full of information and made sure I understood the policy etc. Definitely worth taking at look at their policies!
I went with Aura for my second year of driving as they offered the best quote on a comparison website. The policy went through quickly and I received my documents online within a few days.
About a week into my Policy, I was advised my no claims bonus proof was not valid as it didn't have my address on. Despite them not having any guidelines on what constitutes a valid/acceptable document, they told me via phone call (which I had to make) that if I didn't provide the proof then I would be charged extra/my policy cancelled. By luck, my old insurer was happy to comply with this request, and also stated how irregular it is to have an address printed on a no claims bonus document. I'll be requesting a NCB proof from them as my policy is up next month and I'll be moving elsewhere, will be interesting to see if they provide an address as standard...
The telematics data is a complete nightmare. I contacted them several times about zones that were not classified correctly and received general and indirect responses, the classifications were not updated on the app. There's a section of road(50mph) that turns off to be a 30mph restricted which flagged me for speeding 20mph+ when I did not turn onto it. This warranted a threatening email about how speeding can result in your policy being cancelled.
Also regarding telematics, your score is calculated via 3 datapoints: Speed, Breaking, and Driving at night. I can't speak for others, but my policy did not restrict the time of day I can drive. Quoted directly from the periodic Driving Score Update email: "We can see that your overall score is lower than average. If your score drops further you may be at risk of cancellation." - It feels almost illegal to threaten to cancel my policy for something I am completely within my rights to do? If you dare to drive even a couple of times at night, you can see your driving at night score drop to 30-40 points/100. Considering your total is made from an average of those 3, it really has a major impact.
I luckily didn't have to claim on my policy, but from the overall experience I had as just a standard customer, I'm very glad I didn't. Overall, it gives the impression of an organisation that isn't particularly customer-focused, and seems to thrive in grey areas.
Unfortunately I did not have a great experience with this company, I purchased a telematics insurance for my Daughter, they cancelled the insurance after 20 days and was charged a total of around £500.
Absolutely a disgrace.
TERRIBLE experience with this company, avoid at all costs!
These Issues began in January and are still on-going and I put this down to their appalling and sheer lack of customer service. I have sent emails upon emails and spent entire lunch hours on hold to them to never gain any sort of response.
I am STILL awaiting refund on my deposit and though I didn't think it could get any worse they're attempting to charge me for 'cancelling' all due to their delayed ignorance around revising my policy details with me after refusing to accept the format of my NCB.
Completely appalled, avoid, avoid, avoid!!
Gave me a telematics device that said I was speeding through housing estates when I was infact on the motorway next to it. Useless customer service and very inaccurate technology using Trakm8. Avoid at all costs
Honestly the worst insurance company ever. Only reason i went with them is because it said they have no curfew - turns out you can’t drive between 11pm-5am. They’ve threatened cancellation multiple times, i told them that my car was rejected by the finance company due to being faulty and was being returned back to the dealer and i was trying to get a new car. They told me I had 7 days to get one. I said that wasn’t enough time as I hadn’t been refunded yet, they gave me 14 days instead. 7 days later I get notice of cancellation from them despite them agreeing to give me 14 days !! phoned them and they agreed it should have been 14, so they uncancelled it and i got a new car. today when i got hit with a bill over £100 for exceeding my annual mileage of 8000, according to their black box. I have evidence from the auctions company who inspected my first car to show the amount of miles i had done, and the tracking device to show what was done on my new car. I’ve only done 6500 miles, they say i’ve done 8000+ !! apparently they’ve never had issues with this before? I said majority of people probably just take their word for it that they’ve exceeded the mileage because they don’t have the evidence to prove they haven’t, but i do. staff on the phone said he would pass it on but that it was unlikely to change anything?? please please please avoid
This is the worst insurance, really bad customer service. With out doing any claims at the end they have put claims on my No claims bonus so my new insurance have go up so much because of this. I have told them why you done this to me change it send me new no claims bonus but they are saying we are sorry we can’t do that, we know you have not done any claims but sorry we can’t change it. I have to pay lots more just because of them also I have asked them okay if you can not change it pay for the extra charge I have been charged because of you guys still they do not want to help.
Had I read the reviews for this company I would not have gone with them.
I'm not going to re - iterate everything that has been said by others apart from verifying there experiences have been similiar to mine.
This year has been my worst driving period of my life. I have two weeks to go then I'll be rid of them. WARN YOUR FRIENDS.
AVOID BLACK BOX CAR INSURANCE.
This is the worst company ever, they constantly tried to cancel my insurance because they didn’t let me have any social life, if I go to visit family and stay over they will cancel it, you can’t drive after 11pm, they tell you you can but the score goes right down if you do it just one time it will take atleast a month to bring the score back up. I had to buy more miles, and If you want to contact them you need atleast an hour spare to be waiting on hold before they answer the phone.
The reason for 1 star is where I live the roads are atrocious with potholes. There is simply no way around them. Every time I go out. My score on the blackbox becomes lower and lower, and the it sends information that I have had a crash which is wrong. I contacted blackbox support and they simply ain't interested. Pleased I am leaving in 3 months time.
If there was an option for 0 stars that would be my pick. Will do anything to ensure it takes more money out of your pocket. DO NOT recommend to anyone out there who is looking for an insurance company.worst insurance company I have been with.
If only we could award 0 star reviews, and if only i had read the reviews on here before taking the plunge!
I do not think i have ever come across a company with such appalling customer service.
Please AVOID at all costs.
Awful. Wish I read the reviews before going with them. Moved address and couldn’t get in contact with anyone from there. As a result had to cancel my policy. I owed them some money as I cancelled and didn’t know until it got passed over to a third party company as I moved address and they only sent letters to my old address. They were aware of all this and still didn’t help. I wouldn’t bother going with them.
Absolutely, horrifically, completely disgusting company! I wish I had seen just one of the reviews on here (reviews on their website seem to be fabricated). Avoid this company at all costs. Completely impossible to get in touch with, disgusting approach to customer service and they will scam you out of every penny they can! Agree with other reviews that they should have zero stars. I have no idea how this company has not been shut down/taken to court. AVOID AVOID AVOID.
