UNFIT PARTS AND POOR CUSTOMER SUPPORT

I purchased a set of Dobinsons outer CV boots for a Hilux KUN26R from Auto Parts Co. The process to select the correct part was thorough which gave me confidence that I would be getting the correct part. When the parts arrived and I tried to fit them, I discovered that they were completely unsatisfactory for fitting. The inner diameter was centimeters small than both the hub that they need to go over and the original part. They were even narrower than the inner boots. They were also shorter than the original boots and had half the number of ribs. This made me convinced that I had been sent the incorrect part.

I went back to the Auto Parts Co who checked with Dobinsons and after much back and forth confirming what vehicle I had and what parts they had sent me, this included photos of the size difference between the supplied parts and the original parts they advised that I had been provided with the correct parts. After all of this, their response to me was "they are a large stretch to get over, but do fit and are essentially a bugger of a job to get them on".

To me this is total rubbish. I should not have to use levers to fit a set of CV boots. These were clearly unfit for purpose. However, they steadfastly refused to refund my purchase price. I considered a complaint to consumer affairs, but noting that I am in WA, the retailer is in QLD and the supplier is in NSW it was all too hard. All I can do it to try and warn other people about them in the hope that others do not share my experience.
