There were a lot of documents to upload, but I really appreciated communicating online. Autotrader provides many safe guards for the seller and buyer. They supplied tips and lists to ensure the selling process went smoothly. The car was sold in less than 2 weeks. I received payment into my bank account in less than 24 hours.

Overall the process was very good for buyer and seller. It provided security during chat and transactions. The only problem I recognized was the lack of AT reaching out by not just by email but by a phone call to speed up and assist with the process. Thank You

It was very easy to go through AutoTrader to purchase a used vehicle. I appreciated that the payment could be secured through the website and that they verified the vehicle seller and vehicle history.

Besides the safety and security reasons, I had great interactions with your customer service reps when I needed help or status information. Your checklists for both me as a seller and the buyer also were great. And it was easy to upload needed documents and photos. Good job!!!

Being a first time car buyer thru a private seller I appreciated having Autotrader assist with all the paperwork and communication between the buyer and seller. The transaction felt safe and thorough.

Bots and trash that you can get free on marketplace. Also if the buyer uses their services to buy your car.....the SELLER pays an extra fee. Just skip this.

It was about as good of an experience as I could have. The service was quick. The delivery company could have communicated a bit better. I had an issue sending the payment at first, but it worked the next day. But overall, I really can't complain. The biggest gripe I have is with the messaging system. It was terribly complicated getting into the messages with the seller after I bought the car because the Autotrader site said the car was no longer available and wouldn't bring the messages up. I had to go into Private Seller Exchange and jump through hoops to get back to the messages, which should be easier to get to. That's my biggest gripe.

The customer service people were very friendly and helpful. The Private Exchange made me feel secure and safe in purchasing a vehicle from a private. Verified seller. I really like the process of how the transaction is handled by AutoTrader and that my monies were safe in case the vehicle was not as promised or other potential issues, giving me control to finalize the purchase. I have already told others how impressed I am with The Private Exchange and recommend it.A great idea!

Listing was super easy, great exposure (my vehicle sold in 2 weeks). Liked that Autotrader handled the money exchange. Some negatives, a lot of shady scammer reach out through the platform. You have to sort through a lot of those, as long as you know what to look out for, not a big deal. Thought Autotrader would also handle the paperwork and title switch, but it’s on the buyer to select full services when they pay for that to happen. Think it would be better to have the seller responsible for that option. I would have gladly paid for that, instead I had to handle all that on my own. When I read through the process of listing on Private seller exchange, it made it appear that the seller was in control of that option, which I think would make more sense. Other than those two thing’s, I’d list my car again on Autotrader.

In my opinion, they favor the seller, the auto dealer more than assisting the buyer. I recommend car gurus and cars.com. Way more informative than AutoTrader. . When following cars for sale You might have 10 plus cars In your favorite list. When a car sells they just say it's sold and they delete the picture, the info, the ad and everything. So it's hard to tell which car sold and what it sold for. When a dealer list a car they will tell you how long it's been listed, but they allow the dealer to reset that time frame. They also have several dealers posting cars for sale that are no longer available. Auto trader will also tell you which cars are are being watched and popular by several buyers but they never sell and they sit for months. This is another example on how they favor the dealer. There are several cars listed that were purchased back from the manufacturer due to lemon laws, but when you look at the bullet points AutoTrader calls it a great value, no issues reported, one owner and no wrecks. You have to dig deep to find out it was a a buyback from the manufacturer. Due to a defect the manufacturer could not resolve. Carfaxandcars.com will tell you that info up front.

I found Private Seller Exchange quite helpful. I had to call 3 times and each time I found someone not only helpful but pleasant to talk to.

Autotrader made it simple to sell my Honda Odyssey Mini Van. Their network allows for great exposure for potential buyers. Staying with the system protects the Seller and Buyer from fraud.

Using the private seller exchange gave me a safer, easier way to handle the sale with verified buyers and secure payments. This is priceless. Too many scammers out there and this process removes them from the equation.

The only suggestion for improvement is to require anyone inquiring about a vehicle to be verified users only.

Both the seller and I talked about it, and we both appreciated the way that Autotrader kept us each safe during the process.

Got a lot of "bot" messages but when I posted my ad. However after connecting with a real buyer the process went very smoothly. The transaction process with an out of state buyer was handled extremely well by Autotrader at a reasonable price.
