We visited Aveika in Newcastle Quayside on "Good Friday" 2026.
The staff were excellent.
I had 3 strips of sashimi, which was supposed to come with "crunchy vegetables." ... The sashimi was excellent. But the crunchy vegetables should not have been pluralized. "They" were shredded radish (mooli), but the abundance of ice hid any of the other "vegetables." (and no digging in the crushed ice brought forth any more vegetables)

Also, I would have left a tip, because the service was very good.

BUT, I noticed that 12.5% was added to the bill as a service charge.
I wonder if it was really given to the staff (?)

A service charge should not be imposed; it should be left to the "paying quest" to decide.

But, as I said earlier, the staff were great, and "all in all" if was a good experice'

Highly recommend this beautiful venue for a night with the girls/boys or an intimate dinner with your significant other/first date.

The décor is stunning with a beautiful enormous chandelier in the centre of the bar area.. and the adjoining japanese restaurant has a very modern but cosy feel to it..dimly lit creating a beautiful ambience.

The staff are friendly, welcoming, professional and extremely efficient.
They go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need.

I recently attended a private party on the mezzanine level of the bar. The music, atmosphere and service was amazing.

The food- where to start.. my favourite dish being the Chicken Katsu Curry..i could eat this every single day.. its too good! The selection of starters and sushi available will please even the fussiest of palettes. WIN WIN!!
The Ebi Katsu California rolls are delish and the Scallops&Prawns are out of this world.. Highly recommend!!.
Another recent fave of mine is a new addition on the menu- The Halibut.. this is one of the nicest fish dishes ive ever tried, Meaty but Mild and the sauce and trimmings it comes with are super healthy so definitely a guilt free dining experience.
Cocktails and wine list are equally as good as the extensive menu.. you will not be disappointed.

Its fine dining without the hefty price tag but with all the modern trimmings of a trendy London haunt, just casually nestled on the quaint Quayside of Newcastle upon Tyne instead.

Visited here through Restaurant week to give it a try, friendly staff, nice atmosphere and the food was top quality. Cocktails were great too with a bit more effort put in than most places
