I love Barbour and have owned many jackets.
I treated myself to a new one in the sale. Delivery next day. So far so good. Ordered the same size as usual but it was too big. Rang to swap it but they won't swap for a smaller size and now it isn't on sale so I would have to pay more.
Really, really poor. I just want to swap a non used tag on item for a smaller size.

Fantastic customer service
My lovely barbour wellies developed a crack underneath one after 11 months. I contacted customer service on Monday by email with the details and they were brilliant and said they would replace them. On Wednesday my replacement pair arrived. Fantastic service all resolved within 3 days. Couldn't ask for more, so pleased to have a new pair for my muddy dog walks.

I resent receiving a gift from Barbour. Over the summer, I was given a dog jacket in the wrong size and had to return it, they charged a hefty return fee. Once it started getting cool I went to the store to buy a new one and was told they'd be in stock next month. A month later, I came back and they said they didn't carry the coats. I tried to order it online but there's no way to use store credit online because they're separate stores. The solution they offered was to order it from a store in a different state and then use the store credit, but I would have no way to know whether the coat would fit with my dogs harness because there's 0 info about the coats online. This gift has only been a waste of time and mental energy and since they charged the return fee my store credit wouldn't even cover a new coat. If I could give 0 stars I would. While the customer service person was nice, all she did was confirm that they're system makes no sense. I tried to leave a review on their website (which only features 5 star glowing reviews) but you can't actually leave a review there.

Purchased an expensive ladies handbag from John Lewis which failed after 11 months. John Lewis refused to offer a replacement. Barbour stepped in and offered a replacement immediately. 5⭐️ to Barbour. Nil stars to John Lewis.
Wellingtons are very poor quality and don't last.
Bought their Nimbus short wellingtons and after less than 2 years minimal use they started leaking as the soles had worn through. Very poorly made I expected more from Barnour. I am now wearing my decades old cheap no make wellies that are still waterproof.

I bought a Barbour Roseroot Quilted Coat from a company called Country Attire in 2022. I bought the coat as it was advertised as Watreproof. I have not had much opportunity until recently to wear the coat in the rain. When I did it is NOT waterproof and the rain went straight through completely soaking me. I have checked on various outlet sites and this coat is still advertised as Waterproof. I am being refused a refund by the original outlet so have to pursue Consumer Rights avenue. Please beware this coat is NOT waterproof.

I bought a Beacon waxed jacket, which is on the pricier end of their range, but looks quite stylish and functional (to me, at least). But it seems there are numerous corners cut, which make the jacket unwearable for most situations that I'd want it.
The sleeves have the inferior polyester lining, and the body of the jacket has an unbreathable plastic lining. Together, these cause a huge amount of condensation to build up inside the jacket and leave the wearer soaked if they do anything vaguely active. From what I understand, this is true for some of the other models of jacket, too. I hear there are some companies (or maybe local alteration tailors) who will modify it to make it more breathable (Barbour, themselves, will do only the arms and even then, only at a price).
I find it hard to understand why Barbour would even sell an unwearable jacket, and the polyester sleeves are particularly hard to justify when they are charging this much for the jacket.
Stole £109 from me
Returned sweaters in store and they took all back but failed for refund me for one, thereby stealing £109 from me and refusing to engage with me to get it back. Absolutely appalling customer service for such a storied brand.

I recently sent my Barbour jacket in for repair, cleaning, and re-waxing. When it was first returned, I was very disappointed — the lining hadn’t been cleaned, and a tear in the lining hadn’t been repaired. I felt this should have been obvious to anyone inspecting the jacket.
However, Barbour’s customer service throughout the process was superb. They responded promptly and professionally to my emails, and when I raised my concerns (with photos), they asked me to send the jacket back.
I’m delighted to say that the final result is excellent — the jacket has now been properly repaired, cleaned, and re-waxed, and it looks fantastic.
So while the initial work fell short of expectations, Barbour’s customer care and their willingness to put things right were outstanding.
Blisters
I ordered my size 8 Barbour from Superb and they were much too small and narrow , probably size 7. I put them on for a walk expecting them to settle but at the end I had blisters. The soles were hard the leather was tough. Not what we expect from a brand name like Barbour and £110

This is a mixed review regarding Barbour! I purchased a pair of ankle wellingtons instore while on holiday a few months ago. They developed a leak within weeks and, since I couldn’t go back to the shop, I contacted Barbour direct via email. I had a very prompt reply and customer services were extemely helpful in resolving the issue and sending me a replacement pair. However, these too started to leak within weeks and once again I contacted customer services who, again, were very helpful in letting me know my options. They dispatched an alternative item, which I chose, as soon as i sent proof of return of the boots. So, while I am very disappointed in the quality of the Barbour wellingtons, I could not fault customer services who were, helpful, courteous, and swift in dealing with the issues on both occasions.

Having bought Barbour boots I have noticed that the quality of them have decreased significantly, just bought a pair of Barbour Meays boots and are not fit for purpose, first time of wearing them my feet are soaked.
Powell Quilted Jacket turns white when left close to heat
I purchased a Powell Quilted Jacket a few months ago and like the look and warmth it provides however last week I noticed a large white mark for almost the entire length of one arm which can't be washed out.. I suspect that it was the result of hanging the jacket over a chair when I was at a cafe which was close to a radiator. After an hour the damage was done. There are no warnings about not placing the jacket close to a heat source on the web site. I contacted Barbour support and they said nothing could be done about it. I was expecting a bit more durability out of Barbour.

I was looking to replace my Barbour…
I was looking to replace my Barbour quilted arctic polar jacket and found the equivalent today being the Powell jacket. The quality has significantly deteriorated since my first purchase about 7 years ago. The zip is now plastic instead of brass, it’s no where near the quality and being significantly lighter almost flimsy by comparison, with imitation leather details instead of genuine leather! That’s not the Barbour I know. I looked at the wax jackets which I also have one of and was shocked at the standard compared to mine of about 15 -20 years old, repaired and rewaxed by Barbour and still looking as good as ever! I feel that they are relying on their reputation whilst sneaking in sub standard materials, and haven’t even bothered to address negative reviews. Sad for a company like this, still family owned and going back generations. May as well farm out the manufacturing to China like most company’s for the quality they produce today.

Exceptional customer service
I have recently had the pleasure of dealing with the staff at the Cambridge store regarding a complete refurb and repair of my ancient jacket.
When I enquired as to what could be done, I was given comprehensive information as to my options. When I returned much later to send off my Barbour, I had a full explanation of what would happen and the likely timetable for the renovation. The assistant, Sam, was very helpful and delightful to deal with.
The extensive renovation took only three weeks, which was much faster than any of us had expected. When I collected my jacket later, there was general excitement among the staff, as well as me.
The quality of the restoration is exceptional. It has been sympathetically and intelligently dealt with and, as well as the newly inserted panels in the sleeves where there had been tears, some of the original lining remains, while the problematic section has been repaired using the same 1980s fabric from archive.
Quite apart from my delight at the work undertaken, my experience at this store was truly exceptional. Every member of staff is truly invested in making the customer experience one to remember.
