Film your bathtubs!
A year after carefully selecting and buying a Kaldewei enamel bath a hole appeared where the surface had flaked off. On examining the bath we could find no object that had fallen to cause this and no one else had been in the house. So we contacted the sellers, Sanctuary Bathrooms, who passed us onto Barwicks aftersales [presumably the relevant distributor] . They claimed we had impacted the bath. I said the only thing that had impacted the bath was "a human arse" during normal usage, so I suggested it was a paint bonding issue. . No move from Barwicks. Later, at our own expense we brought in an expert bath repairer who pointed out an small circular indent in the black metal of the bath. I photographed this and sent it to Barwicks indicating that it would take a considerable force to indent the metal and that this was probably the hole that left a gap with the paint, that then flaked. They still denied any such notion and told me I had hit the bath. I can't prove much in this case, but it seems to me that any warranties YOU may have regarding baths are not worth the paper / email they are written on since manufacturers and distributers will always deny any fault. So please start filming your bathtubs 24/7 so you can see and show when manufacturing faults occur! We are disappointed that a reputable bath manufacturer and distributer who proffer a 10 year warranty - in reality don't offer any such thing. Buyer beware..
