Our experience with Baroš
Our experience with Baroš, Bičakčić & Partners unfortunately did not meet our expectations.
In December 2024, our company entered into a written Engagement Agreement with the firm concerning claims arising from a very large renewable energy Project that our firm was contracted to provide an investor for. The agreed professional fee with Baroš, Bičakčić & Partners was €8,000, of which we were requested to pay an advance of €4,000 on account.
The scope of the written engagement included pre-court representation and, if required, filing claims against both the project’s developer and the Project Company.
The firm prepared two warning letters, although ultimately only one was sent. No court proceedings were commenced on our behalf.
Shortly afterwards, when we instructed the firm to proceed, we were informed that following internal discussions they had decided not to continue with our case.
Our concern is that we were never provided with a formal termination notice under the termination provisions contained in the firm’s own Engagement Agreement.
The firm has subsequently declined our request for reimbursement of the €4,000 paid on account, maintaining that the payment was earned through the preliminary legal work undertaken.
We disagree with that position, particularly given the substantially wider scope of the original engagement and the fact that the contemplated litigation was never undertaken.
We have attempted to resolve the matter directly with the firm and have requested an explanation regarding the termination of the engagement and reimbursement of the advance payment.
We believe prospective clients should be aware of our experience when considering engaging this law firm, particularly in relation to agreeing clearly in advance how fixed fees will be treated if the firm subsequently decides not to continue with the representation.
