Purchased for use while riding motorcycles. 5 days after receiving I departed on a 16 day 4000+ mile trip. Some days I had my ear plugs in for 6 or 7 hours, no ear pain. Yes they are expensive but wha... See more

0 star — If You Have Two Years to Waste, Big Ear Inc. Is the Company for You
I honestly wish there was an option for zero stars, because Big Ear Inc. has managed to turn what should have been a simple aviation headset ear-mold purchase into a two-year customer service nightmare.
I purchased custom ear molds for my aviation headset. The molds didn’t fit properly, and somehow the process ended up damaging my headset. Naturally, I contacted Big Ear expecting a company that specializes in aviation ear molds to stand behind its product.
That was apparently my first mistake.
For over TWO YEARS, I have been trying to get this company to actually address the problem. And what have I received?
“Next week.”
“Soon.”
“We’ll get back to you.”
And then… absolutely nothing.
At this point, I’m starting to think “next week” is actually Big Ear’s official customer service department.
I’ve spent more than two years chasing a company that apparently believes that if they ignore a customer long enough, the problem will magically disappear. Unfortunately for them, I have a pretty good memory.
The irony is incredible: this is a company selling products intended for aviation professionals who depend on their equipment, yet they seem completely incapable of taking responsibility when their product doesn’t work as advertised and causes damage.
The ear molds didn’t fit. My headset was damaged. And after two years of trying to get a resolution, I’m still waiting.
Two years.
Not two weeks.
Not two months.
Two years.
At this point, I don’t need them to fix my headset. I just need someone at Big Ear to invent a calendar and discover what year we’re currently in.
If you’re considering buying from Big Ear, my advice is simple: don’t. There are plenty of companies that will gladly take your money. The difference is that some of them will actually answer you afterward.
Big Ear has demonstrated an impressive level of commitment to one thing: not solving the problem.
Save yourself the headache, the money, and the two-year waiting period. Look elsewhere.

Fit was great (used the home mold kit with the help of my wife) and the 30db passive nr filters worked great shooting my USPSA 9 major open gun. Comfort was great even after over 6 hours of wear. Definitely recommend and Glenn was great to deal with.

I can fully recommend these earplugs. They fit very comfortably in the ear and are genuinely pleasant to wear! The volume level on the airplane and during freefall is now significantly more comfortable. I have the standard ear plugs without filters and would definitely buy them again. Best regards from Germany and thank you

These ear plugs have quickly become one of the most valuable pieces of gear I own for skydiving. Hearing protection is something every skydiver should take seriously—from the aircraft to freefall and countless hours in the wind tunnel, the noise exposure adds up over time.
The full-protection plugs are perfect for tunnel training. They significantly reduce the constant wind noise while remaining comfortable enough to wear through extended sessions.
For jumping, the filtered plugs are outstanding. They make it much easier than your run of the mill plugs to equalize on the ride to altitude, and in freefall, while still allowing me to clearly hear and communicate with my teammates on the plane, and stay aware of everything happening around me. In freefall and under canopy, they take the edge off the wind noise without making me feel disconnected.
The fit and comfort are second to none, and knowing my hearing is protected every time I jump or fly in the tunnel gives me peace of mind. Whether you’re a weekend warrior or training every day, they’re an investment in your long-term hearing health that’s absolutely worth making.
Oh, and did I mention the top notch Customer Service? I had the privilege of being able to order my plugs in person at a Boogie. Stone and Casey are very passionate and knowledgeable, and just all around down to earth people.
100/10 highly recommended. You won’t regret it!

I bought a pair of the custom molded solid plugs after attending a seminar presented by Big Ear at the 2026 BMW MOA rally. It was definitely not a sales or product demonstration, but it confirmed to me that I needed hearing protection before I lost any hearing. I had a pair custom made for me at the show in about 5 minutes and then came back to pick them up an hour later. They showed me how to insert them properly. The next day, I used them for 6 hours on a motorcycle ride. They performed just as described and there was no ear fatigue or pain. In fact, they enhanced my in-helmet biker to biker communication, which is now clearer while blocking nearly all the wind noise. They greatly exceeded my expectations, and I would not hesitate to recommend the company and their products.
2026 BMW MOA Rally. Friendly and accommodating. Provided good service with an emphasis on protecting hearing and being realistic about hearing recovery. I'm looking forward to using my new ear protection to prolong what hearing I have left.
Still have and use my original pair from years ago. Love them. Have three pairs.
2nd set of custom ear plugs. Great service, were ready in an hour and a great fit.
I have had no response to emails or phone calls. I’m hesitant to place an order, as it may have closed down and it will be lost money.
I ordered molds for the Bose Proflight headset. It took almost three months for the custom molds to be made. The molds are uncomfortable and the noise canceling of the headset does not work right with the molds. Glen from Big Ear was slow to respond to help then ghosted me. I wasted my money. I don't recommend Big Ear.

I waited months for my Big Ear custom ear pieces to arrive, and when they finally showed up, they didn’t fit at all—even after having my impressions professionally taken at my ear doctor’s office.
When I reached out to customer service for help, their “solution” was to tell me to go buy a Dremel and shave them down myself until they fit. I’m not sure how a company selling custom medical-grade ear pieces thinks DIY grinding is an acceptable fix, but it was honestly shocking.
For the price and the wait time, I expected a professional product and support. Instead, I’m left with ear pieces I can’t use and advice that feels downright unsafe. Would not recommend.

My order process began in December 2024, and it is now November 2025 — I still have not received the product I ordered. After waiting nearly six months for my original molds, they arrived defective. Big Ear told me they would remake them and ship them back, but after months of additional waiting, I still have nothing.
I’ve called, emailed, and spoken with them directly, and each time I’ve been assured my order was “on the way soon.” Yet here we are, almost a year later, with no product and no meaningful updates.
This company’s customer service has been extremely poor, and based on my experience, I would recommend avoiding them.
Update- It is now 2/24/2026 and I have yet to receive the remade product. I’ve reached out several times and get nothing but delay tactics every time. They have the time to reply to this complaint but they must not have the time to make products and get them out to their customers. Avoid this company.

I teach Aerobatics in the Extra and Pitts. These airplanes are extremely loud. I had to change out my clarity aloft foams just about every day. My Big Ear clarity aloft adaptors have turned an almost unbearable condition into a pleasure. I love them so much I just ordered a set for shooting sports. It’s rare to find a product that actually delivers on its promises.

Waiting period went from 5 weeks to 2 months. UPS shows delivered but as the sender my able to assist me with a proof of delivery. So cannot claim from receiving company because I can’t get a proof of delivery, and they don’t care. Use someone else. You’ll be better off

The earplugs took a bit more than 8 weeks. However, when I inquired via the chat function of the bigearinc.com web site I was given an email to send my concern to. Once i sent that email within a few days the earplugs arrived. The earplugs were very good, very true fit to my ears, and the silicone is soft. Very comfortable. Highly recommended

I received my Big Ear 5’s a few weeks back and after wearing them since on my motorcycles, all I can say is WOW! The fit and comfort is unmatched and the build quality is impressive. But the sound, now that’s where the magic lies. The tone and clarity of the voice and music input is awesome, and very easy to hear every nuance even at speed with a loud bike.
I am beyond happy with them and the entire process, despite the build time they were definitely worth the wait! I will recommend you and your team to all my riding friends and hope that these last a long time. Thank you again for the great product and experience, you rock!
Well I wish I had seen the reviews before I decided to wast $200 dollars and 10 weeks of my time. I have called many time and I get the same story they will be ready next week. Well next week has come and gone and I needed them for an airshow I have coming up but nothing. I guess I will call the credit card company and start over with a reputable company for the product. Sad but I will be sure to leave more than just 1 commit so other don't have these issues....

Worst customer service ever! I paid $700 for headsets to fit in my motorcycle helmet. The wire came loose from the earpiece. I’ve called six or seven times and emailed twice. No response at all from the company. They will not even let me know whether it can be fixed or not. Steer clear of this company at all costs!
