The Big Green Egg Genius has been a great addition to my BBQ setup. It takes a lot of the guesswork out of managing the temperature and makes it much easier to maintain a consistent cook, particularly during longer cooks. It’s easy to set up, straightforward to use and has made cooking on the Big Green Egg even more enjoyable. A really useful bit of kit and definitely worth having if you regularly do longer cooks.
Such a great tool - can leave the egg cooking away and not stress about maintaining temps. Great for a beginner! It’s not cheap, it does feel a bit flimsy to insert and like an aftermarket accessory

The product does a great job of maintaining temperature; if you place the probe in the right position. I found out the hard way that when using the conveggtor, a placement too close to the edge results in a 20 degree misread and it does not heat up enough. This is user error though, so be sure to do your homework! The WiFi connection is problematic and I had to enable WiFi Agile Multiband in my access point settings to get it to connect. Once this was done (after hours of trying to find the issue), no issues connecting, at all. For the price, I would expect the WiFi connectivity to be easier. Would be a valuable improvement if the app were able to estimate time to target temperature, but it is fine just checking in now and then on the app to see progress.
Expensive but does a great job. Surprised that for this price it only has a 1 year guarantee.
The product doesn't even have a battery to allow you to charge as not often do you have power near your outdoor bbq.. Also it feels a little flimsy for the amount in my opinion it has design flaws for a quality product brand it is very little cost of parts to be charging such a fee
The app is not user friendly and connects with fan only just toke 2 hours and still got problems with the app
The main problem with the Egg Genius is the initial setup. It is essential that latest software is downloaded, a bit of a fiddle in itself, or it will not connect to iOS. This is only made clear on the US website. UK distributers seem not to know about any connectivity problems. That said after I got it connected seems to work well.
Eggsellent product - very useful. To be perfect, a more robust system of fixing in place would be good.
The clue is in the name of the product - Genius! Low & slowed a pork shoulder for 14 hours, mainly overnight, and the pit temperature of 110 degrees stayed constant throughout! One tiny negative is that the product isn't waterproof, which in the UK can be an issue! Other than that a fab product!
Really nice bit of kit. Had the meater plus before and decided to upgrade to full egg genius with fan. Only used it once so far and very impressed, excellent that it can work with a batter pack too without draining too much. Only thing it could do with is an estimated cooking time / count down as per the meater plus.
Needs easy access to instructions.
Have used this for 2 cooks now and honestly it's awesome. It's expensive for what it is, but it works incredibly well and easy to use once set up.
Light it, leave it and EGG Genius does the rest
