The service was amazing apart from an old lady (I'm assuming the owner or manager) that was being extremely rude to the waitresses especially one girl which ended up in tears because of the way she was being spoken to, its not nice to see when you are trying to enjoy a meal, the owner should be absolutely ashamed at the way she talks to her staff as at the end of the day its a first job for the majority of people that will work in there and its not a very nice way to start a young working life. The food was mediocre, presented well but had a very bland taste. There was also a problem with payment, the old lady overseen us paying the £40 which we were told was due after we tried to explain that it must not be right for a party of 4, she then proceeded to call us after and threaten us with the police if we didn't go right back down and pay it. Wouldn't recommend to anyone, wont be back. 👎😡

Really great stay. Great service in the bar. Good selection of beer and larger and great selection of wines. Food was amazing from the starter to the main course. No room for pudding but managed the sorbet which was delicious. Thank you to Grant and all the staff we met, we could not ask for more, they were courteous prompt and very friendly. The room was a good size with all the amenities you would expect, lots of storage, large walk in shower, tea coffee facilities TV and a very comfy bed. We will definitely stay again.

The breakfast was scrumptious with fresh tomatoes and black pudding to die for, whilst the location is 30 minutes out of Edinburgh the drive is scenic and no hassle to be away but close to the city, we also visited the Tattoo and Newton Grange Colliery, Both of which I would recommend.

Had a lovely few hours here whilst holidaying in Lauder.
Good atmosphere, friendly staff and the food and wine was excellent. The decor is fantastic..
I would and will certainly be going back.

Very disappointing meal. Cullen skink hardly warm and was awful. Fish not nice and linguine wasn’t nice either. The waiting time was unacceptable. My friend said merlo was nice. Felt sorry for girls waiting tables. Never again.

We had an excellent meal with friends that stayed in the Hotel all weekend. Our friends had nothing but praise for the staff and Hotel room.
