Don't use, you can't contact them

Booked apartment through Hoseseasons, unable to pay balance due to glitch system. Tried to phone 52 times, then received email saying they had changed booking ref number and had now taken final balance. Next day had email from owner of apartment who told me he used to rent his apartment with Blue Chip, parent company but no longer does but keeps receiving booking requests from them. I now cant get hold.of Hoseseaons or Blue Chip by phone or email for a refund. Started proceedings with credit card company for a refund and have reported them to ABTA. Holiday was booked in June for a week in August, do not use any of their companies, Blue Chip, Hoseasons etc all part of the Awaze Group/Vacation Rentals.

We are currently staying in ‘The Cribb’

We are currently staying in a ‘platinum’ property that is a million miles from ‘platinum’. It is a show home with polyester sheets and dirty coloured towels with cheap and uncomfortable furniture. The shower is luke warm at best. However, the worse thing about this property is that it is directly next to a busy road which services an industrial estate. Lorries thunder past from early to late in the day which you cannot escape as the front of the property is the only place to sit outside. If this company ‘Bluechip’ rate this property ‘platinum’ then I dread to think what their other property’s are like. We will NOT be using Blue Chip Holidays again!

Stir Clear, they filed for Bankruptcy, Mar 20

Update: Blue Chip Holidays filed for bankruptcy, March 2020 (info via Companies House). Allegedly BC are still taking peoples money and refusing to return people's deposits.

Stir clear of blue chip with a barge pole. We were supposed to travel down to cornwall tomorrow (11 Jul 20), however at 1630 today they telephoned to say that the apartment was no longer available. No explanation was given, apart from a clitch in the system. Shocking when you have 2 x excited kids to tell they are no longer going on holiday in the morning.

I haven’t been on my holiday yet but…

I haven’t been on my holiday yet but wishing I hadn’t booked reading all these reviews, my concern is that I can not get hold of anyone by either phone or email to answer my concerns on certain issues. Don’t feel comfertable paying the balance due on my holiday if I carnt even contact the company even by email, I live in Spain and calling and waiting over half an hour and still no response is costly. I have never had such bad service from any other travel company.

Update have to say after emailing the company they called me today and apologised for not being able to contact them due to our weird new life, their resources just Carnt cope, understand that and so grateful to receive a call from the company so all good and restored my faith in them thank you Sarah at blue chip customer services

Our holiday cottage was cancelled but we got a full refund.

We booked our UK holiday cottage in January before Covid-19 struck. We were assured that the final payment would not be taken until such time as the government had eased lock-down restrictions and allowed holidays to be taken.

Sure enough. once we had the all clear the balance was taken. We contacted the owner to ask a few questions and she told us that she had informed Blue Chip in May that they were cancelling all bookings for 2020/21.

I immediately rang Blue Chip and, after being on hold for over an hour, managed to get through to a customer service operative, Molly. I explained the situation and asked her to expedite the refund asap so we could find somewhere else. There was no question of vouchers or moving the booking to a different date, I just wanted a refund.

I received a 'phone call 2 days later that the refund had been authorised and would be in my a/c within 2/3 days which it was.

I am disappointed that the property manager had not updated the system when he received the cancellation but am happy that Molly was able to sort out our refund.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

We have used this company several times in recent years, staying in 7 Harbour View, Newquay and had no complaints whatsoever at that time. The accommodation was of a high standard and the company easy to deal with and we had no problems at all.
Because of this, we decided to use Blue Chip to book a week's holiday in June at "Seaside" in Newquay, paying the lower deposit. What a mistake that turned out to be.
In early March I received a text from the NHS advising me that due to my two serious medical conditions (I have bronchiectasts-permanent lung damage due to childhood chest infections- and asthma) and was told to self-isolate for 12 weeks to avoid severe illness. I received another text later asking me to pack a bag in case
of hospitalisation.
Because of this my husband rang Blue Chip to ask if we could change the dates to much later in the year but was told that not only could he not do that, we also had to pay £250 on top of the deposit already paid.We paid as there seemed no alternative.
We only discovered after going online that Blue Chip is actually owned by Hoseasons and others, which spoke volumes.
This company has no interest in its customers whatsoever.
Go elsewhere to book your holiday.
I do not want a reply from Blue Chip telling me how much they value their customers blah, blah.
illness due to Coronavirus.

Highland View,Sandygate, Devon

Sadly due to the Coronavirus outbreak we had to cut our week short. Our choice, not the owners. We felt our family needed us and with the government calling for partial lockdown we couldn’t really go out anywhere. Having said that I cannot think of a more relaxing place to be. The property is absolutely stunning and has everything you will need. The view across the countryside from the balcony is so calming, watching the sheep and the red kites and it catches the sun almost all day. The hot tub was fantastic and the jets massage away any tension and aches. We will definitely book again after the outbreak is over and next time we will get to see more of beautiful Devon.

Do not book with Blue Chip.

I was absolutely disgusted by Blue Chips attitude following the recent government guidelines in light of the recent Coronavirus outbreak. We had booked a weeks holiday mid may at the Seahorses property in Seaton Cornwall. We have visited the Same property 5 times now and take our dog with us. We contacted blue chip to ask for our holiday to be postponed until the crisis was over after the government stated no unnecessary travelling, only to be told by a very rude customer service representative that we either travel and go or lose the full deposit, £175. When we pointed out we were asking for a postponement and that we have been loyal repeat customers for a number of years, again greeted with a statement that we had to pay the full amount, no postponement or lose the deposit. We made the choice to do the right thing and cancel. £175 out of pocket. The following day I wen on the website to see that that they were offering to postpone people’s holidays for up to 12 months. This is an absolute disgrace treating customers this way and having no regard for their safety or wellbeing. They clearly are only interested in profit and clearly have no problem with racketeering from a global crisis. We have sent 3 complaints to the company over this issue to have absolutely no response from any of them.
Good luck Blue Chip with staying in business following the end of this crisis because treat others the same way as other reviews are suggesting and you won’t last much longer. We will never use your company again and suggest to others not to bother.

Blue Chip Holidays refuse to refund our money

Do not book with Blue Chip Holidays.
They have cancelled our holiday, which is understandable in the current climate, but they now refuse to refund my money. Instead they are insisting that i have to change the date of the holiday. They will not listen to the fact that it is not possible for me to go at a later date. They will not listen to the fact that i need that money back in the current climate with job insecurity and wage cuts.
In my eyes this is theft of my money and I am advising everyone to stop using Blue Chip Holidays now and for the future.
Employees are unhelpful but this is probably due to the fact that the company is more interested in stealing money rather than giving refunds.
In a time where the entire country is pulling together Blue Chip Holidays are only interested in retaining money that is not rightfully theirs rather than helping its customers. It just goes to show when there is an emergency Blue Chip Holidays only care about themselves and not its customers. There are plenty of other holiday companies out there that are giving full refunds. Please pass this review onto everyone you know who is looking to book a holiday.

Cancelled holiday with no refund offered

Blue Chip have cancelled our holiday due to Coronavirus. Not only will they not offer a refund, we have to rebook within 12 months with no certainty as to when we will be able to travel again. There is no other date within the next year which does not involve having to pay an extra cost. The company are with holding our money and expecting us to pay them more. This is to no benefit of the owners of the flat that we booked. We book with Blue Chip or Skyes, all under Cottages.com every year, and we are really disappointed in the treatment of their loyal customers at times like this and will not be using them again.

Do not book on a low deposit scheme!

Do not book on a low deposit scheme. Have to pay to cancel even when circumstances are beyond your control! We paid £25 to book and have had to pay £175 to cancel. Absolutely disgusting and not made clear at all when booking. We have also stayed in lodges with this company that have been filthy dirty and in another instance mouldy. Only ever been offer 10% discount as an apology even though our holidays were ruined in both cases!!!!

Preston Sands Apartment, Paignton

Travel Date: 24/08/19-31/08/19. Not as advertised. Unfinished property that was being let with no regard for children. I am not going into lengthy explanations not enough hours in the day. So this is general but not full list of complaints. Suffice to say on a main busy road. The busiest road in the area. Near to impossible to park when one hs a second car. No Welcome pack
No Fire or safety instructions
Only one way out of the building in the event of fire (this is upstars remember) at the end of a long corridor - If there were a fire in the kitchen area that spread to the corridor people would be trapped.
Bed room door does not close. Breaking safety regulations
Partner woke up in the night nearly on the floor the slats had fallen out of the bottom of bed.
He is only 12.5 stone - In other words not overly fat or heavy.
We are still looking for the Astro turf bit of garden that is supposed be for relaxing in. Later informed it had been removed
The railway track is running very close along the back of the building.
Mr fix it man called in to rectify windows said the windows locks are all tired with a k. He had to put 2 screws in the large boiler housing because it was fell of the wall and hit my partner.
No wardrobes for hanging clothes in just cheap plastic rails with minimal hangers supplied. Most of our clothes were on the floor as there is no where to put them.Badly finished just thrown together.
I would think fire hazard and escape would have been priority issues.dirty toilet brushes,no shower curtain on the shower in the onsuite.bath plug is not attached to the chain therefor difficult to get out once one has had a bath. Could not find nice bit of bit with the astro turf (later told it had been removed) and there is now where to dry clothes. Window frames rotten. Needless to say Blue Chip took no responsibility and could not see anything wrong with the property. We stayed because it was a family holiday we were not offered alternative and could not find anywhere else at short notice to stay. The children had looked forward to the holiday for weeks. Its very sad because we have been holidying with Blue Chip for many years. The standards are dropping all the time. Luxery Holidays. ?

The Eider House, Hayle, Cornwall

We have recently returned from a four night stay over New Year. There were nine of us in total over two families. A really lovely house with plenty of room for us all. The five bedrooms and three bathrooms are spread over the first and second floor. There was more than enough room for us all. The house was lovely and clean when we arrived, the bathrooms were sparkling. There were also some really lovely additional touches such as a hamper of local treats, beautiful crisp white bed linen and gorgeous white fluffy towels. There was plenty of crockery, cutlery etc in the kitchen for our large group. I’ve read reviews for this property saying that it’s “a bit tired” or “in need of some TLC” .... I disagree. Of course, there are things that could be tweaked slightly but it’s a holiday home with, I suspect, a lot of families coming and going. If there is anything at all that I could fault it would be that the curtains in the main bedroom are completely see through with a light on, so unless you want to get changed in public best get dressed in the dark or in the bathroom! This property is easily a five out of five! Thank you blue chip holidays!

Rude owner, poor facilities, broken hot tub and £600 down the toilet!

AVOID AVOID AVOID!

We paid over £600 for 3 nights for a lodge in Cheddar. What a massive regret! Well, it is hard to know where to start, but as things started going wrong before we had even arrived, I will start from there.

We were told we could arrive from 3pm. We got a call at 4.15pm (ish) saying that our hot tub had broken in our lodge and therefore we were to be upgraded. I understand that sometimes these things happen, so we accepted the "upgrade". It turns out that this new lodge was only more expensive because it had 2 bedrooms, instead of just 1. This was completely useless to us, as we were a couple going away for a romantic weekend. Additionally, the "upgrade" didn't have a freestanding bath of which my partner was really looking forward to. Just a shower. It also had no sheltered area externally, which we booked specifically because the weather was scorching that weekend. There was only a parasol for the table, which was broken and lying on the floor. We checked in Friday to Monday, but unfortunately the staff don't work weekends so other than the Emergencies Only number in the book, we had nobody around to ask. The "upgrade" was not prepped for someone to stay there, as it was dusty, had quite a lot of cobwebs and the handyman obviously hadn't services the place yet, as the door handle fell off the bedroom door and in general, it felt tired. One of the sliding doors had strong resistance and wouldn't open properly. Also, the water pressure from both showers was really poor. In fact it was so poor, water only came from half the shower head.

It gets worse ...

On day 2 we started to notice a bad smell coming from the middle of the main room. By day 3 and 4, the smell was absolutely disgusting and unbearable. We couldn't get out of there quick enough.

The pub on the entrance to the lodge is an absolute joke. The barman made judgemental comments like "you got a nice car mate, you can obviously afford to come and stay in places like these whenever you want, can't ya?". He advertises that he serves food until the evenings, but we went in at half 5 to book a table for 7pm and he basically said "I will have quite a few customers by then, so won't have time to cook you anything". Okay - well don't advertise you do food then.

So we got an "upgraded" lodge which had less facilities than the one we booked and paid for, with no shelter from the scorching sun, which meant we couldn't use the hot tub in the day. On day 3, we managed to find one of the young lads who were doing a service or something to our hot tub. He managed to do a temp fix to our umbrella, although it meant that it was permanently fixed up. Although a bit of a dodgy job, we appreciated that he was trying to help and it meant we could finally use the hot tub for during the final day.

It gets worse ...

So we wrote our complaint in a polite email and sent it to Blue Chip Holidays. We were told that the owner would be in touch within 48 hours. 4 days later, there was no response so we chased them. The owner obviously mixed us up with somebody else who also had a bad experience, because his response was not relevant to the points made in our complaint. We pointed this out to him, he obviously got very embarrassed, then became quite rude and confrontational. At one point he accused us of lying to him! We were always polite about our complaint and just wanted to give him the chance to resolve it. He kept telling us how he had PERSONALLY given us a hamper as an apology for the mix up, but he is obviously mixing us up with the other couple that complained because we never met the owner and we certainly didn't get a hamper. He also called my partner RUDE AND UNGRATEFUL. Disgusting attitude - the guy hasn't got a clue how to handle complaints. A simple apology and a partial refund (25% maybe?) would have gone a long way, and we may have even come back to give it another go. Unfortunately, he kept talking down to us, being rude and tried hard to make us feel like we were being a nag. He offered us £50 discount off our next stay, and refused to discuss any further. Needless to say, we will not be going back. You ruined our weekend away and your customer service skills are shameful. Especially for the price we paid. £600 down the toilet, and we didn't even get an honest apology.
